There's so many gadgets to choose from - everything from steam cleaners to slow cookers.

What have you found that has really been worth the money - that saves you time in the daily grind, and gets regular use?

Halogen oven( table top thing)

ihearsounds · 13/10/2012 10:44

Dishwasher, saves hours not washing up.
Iphone - pics, net, skygo, games, music, print, satnav, bus stop app, one note plus loads more.
Coffee machine with timer.
Steam cleaner.
Micro fibre glove, cleaning the blinds takes minutes, much better than the crappy blind cleaner.
External hard drive.

iPad!! For books, cookbooks, shopping apps (Zara, boden, h&m, net-a-porter), tesco shopping (apologies but it is better than the ocado app), emails, music, films an tv, live streaming, Skype, educational children's apps and lots more I can't think of now and it is portable. Not sure what I did before it.

racingheart · 14/10/2012 19:29

Magimix.

In seconds it chops veg for stir fries and spag bols that would take me 30 mins to chop. It mixes cakes, pastries, dough and icing in seconds. It makes breadcrumbs, crumbles. It purees soup.

I use it every day. Love it.

ATourchOfInsanity · 14/10/2012 19:36

Slow cooker
Bread maker
Tumble dryer
I use all of these most days

Am interested in rice maker and steam mop - anyone got any advice?

VerySmallSqueak · 14/10/2012 19:55

I have to say that I'm excited about the thought of coffee ready for me in the morning. But also excited in equal measures at the thought of a steam mop,a rechargeable floor sweeper and a roomba.
I think the i phone sounds fab,but I don't think I could work one [old gimmer]

iPad and Roomba, couldn't live without them!

Yorky · 15/10/2012 16:31

very interested in lightweight rechargeable stick hoover type things as the hall and dining room are laminate floored and DC are messy eaters, but sweeping never seems to be done and I hate the too heavy dyson with its awkward to get out hose bit!
Recommendations welcome :)
Does a roomba cope with different types of flooring?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/10/2012 17:02

This is the one we've got Cordless Vac. It's great on carpet, although no good on deep pile, it drags, it's OK on solid floors but not as good at getting up to edges as either a proper cylinder vac or a brush (in the case of solid floors). It has a tendency to push larger crumbs (eg cheerios) ahead of it rather than going over them on solid floors, but then so does the proper vac. I use it as a quick every day clean up tool and then get the proper vac out once a week for a proper clean

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/10/2012 17:05

I should add that the head swivels really well and it's great for getting in and out of a tangle of chair and table legs without having to pull them all out every time. We've got one of those round tables on a central leg with four long feet and a chair in between eqch pair of feet and it is a pain to get a proper hoover or brush round without moving it all, the unirapido is far better.

MisForMumNotMaid · 15/10/2012 19:49

dyson cordless just try not to look at the price. It does vac for about 20mis on full charge and is now my main vac.

Heated clothes airer
Slow cooker
Breadmaker

ATourchOfInsanity · 15/10/2012 22:42

Boffin I found mine the other day and am wondering what to do with it as it takes up a fair amount of drawer space. Can you 'up-cycle' these things? Wink What else could I use it for?

lolalotta · 16/10/2012 07:16

lolalotta · 16/10/2012 07:17

Slow cooker
Smartphone
Steam steriliser
Ipod

AnyFuleKno · 16/10/2012 07:37

miele cat and dog hoover

after having a dyson for years, it's a revelation. it takes me a quarter of the time to whizz round and don't have to empty it all the time like the dyson!

BoffinMum · 16/10/2012 13:11

Making cappucinos? Grin

ATourchOfInsanity · 16/10/2012 13:16
