Y'know, the cheepo Daisy dishwasher tabs are really just as good as the expensive 'platinum' ones

I made the change a month ago cus I was sick of paying through the nose to wash my dishes and, as long as your salt and rinse aid is topped up, they're just as good as the other kind.

Daisy dishwasher tabs: £2.50/ box
Expensive Rip-u-Off tabs: £7/ box

Simples.

I agree completely! And, as it's just me and DS, a box lasts us about 6 weeks :).

Aldi Magnum All in 1 Complete

£3.99 for 40 tablets

is a "Which" best buy at 10p a wash

Tesco Daisy did not score so well, but works out at only 6p a wash

I strongly agree about remembering to keep the salt and rinse-aid topped up, it really is better than hoping a 5-in-1 tablet will be as good.

GWenlockMaryLacey · 30/08/2012 11:09

Yep, Tesco stripey here. Haven't bought expensive ones for years and no complaints.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/08/2012 14:51

Try the powder, I'm still on the same box from last November.

I do spray the inside of cups with bleach though.

I had 20 free finish powerball tabs sent to me though and the plates were no cleaner.

Northernlurkerisonholiday · 30/08/2012 14:53

I've been using Waitrose all in one. They are cheap too and seem very good.

debka · 30/08/2012 14:55

I use sainsburys basics AND break them in half because I have a smaller dishwasher! Everything is clean still.

GlaikitFizzog · 30/08/2012 14:56

Salt? Rinse aid? What are the potions of which you speak??

StanleyAccrington · 30/08/2012 14:57

we don't have a dishwasher , but recently stayed in a holiday cottage where all the cleaning products were Daisy - cleaning spray, laundry liquid, washing up liquid, etc - and we were very impressed.

greenhill · 30/08/2012 14:57

I agree, as long as you've kept the salt topped up in the dishwasher, there is no significant difference in performance. You just notice the price difference.
Wilkinsons ones are excellent too.

LegArmpits · 30/08/2012 14:58

Lidl 5 in 1 here, and no salt or rinse aid in sight.

Pascha · 30/08/2012 14:58

If I don't use salt and rinse aid I end up with streaky wet orrible dishes at the end of the cycle. I use tesco liquid at the moment which is doing just fine. I found the Daisy left dirty food behind.

GlaikitFizzog · 30/08/2012 15:02

Ah I use a 5 in 1 tab, but I wouldn't even know where to out the salt and rinse aid.

Pascha · 30/08/2012 15:03

happens with 5 in 1s as well. Very very hard water area. It needs the whole lot thrown at it.

Lovemy3kids · 30/08/2012 15:05

Asda Smartprice tablets for me....have used them for years :)

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 30/08/2012 15:06

We use lots of daisy cleaning stuff, it's all great. Washing powder good too and cheap as chips.

Rubirosa · 30/08/2012 15:09

I use the Aldi ones usually - got Daisy ones as a one off and they weren't as good.

FreeButtonBee · 30/08/2012 15:15

salt and rinse aid needed here in london - the water is 'orrible. I alternate between the two. Use cheapo stuff for ordinary washes and have tablets for super dirty washes.

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 15:25

Yup - you can break them too! I actually for a box of 15 Finish ones in the pound shop for, well £1 actually. I thought that was not too bad as it was an 'emergency' purchase.

Someone said that vinegar works for rinse aid, so I am waiting to try that one. Not cheapo alternative for the salt though!

PigletJohn · 30/08/2012 15:57

If all else fails, RTFM.

Indith · 30/08/2012 16:01

We just got our very first dishwasher. It is a thing of great joy but that is another thread. I sat on the tesco website and worked out the cheapest stuff. Ended up with cheapest salt, rinse aid and powder. It seems ot do the job.

Nagoo · 30/08/2012 16:04

yup they are :)

GlaikitFizzog · 30/08/2012 16:05

Rtfm?

BikeRunSki · 30/08/2012 16:06

We have very soft water, and all the cheap stuff works brilliantly.

belizabus · 30/08/2012 16:37

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/08/2012 16:39

You always need salt, it cleans the resin that softens the water.

The all in one's are a bit of a con/clever marketing.
