Am very excited - having oven cleaned professionally for first time ever

Am expecting to have a transformed oven. Have had to stop using top oven for fear of it catching fire.

If it is lovely I may even cook something in it.

Envy. I need to ring my man. You will be amazed and want to hug him if it looks anything like mine did. Grin

DP offered to try and clean it with a scourer and some cif last night. I looked at him in horror and had to explain how that just wasn't going to work.

Oooooh how exciting. How much is it, roughly?

Stangirl · 01/05/2012 15:34

I think it's about £56. I'm in London so it's pricier than elsewhere and I also needed it done this week so had to speak to 3 places before I found one that could match my timetable.

Innnnnnteresting.....I've got 6years worth of grease on mine that I am categorically not using my own elbow grease to shift as they will just fall off. Might have to look into it

madasa · 02/05/2012 13:02

Watching with interest....am about to ring and book someone to come and clean my crud infested oven

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 02/05/2012 13:47

I love my oven cleaning man. He comes in once a year, takes about 90mins and costs £35 (Hampshire). Best bit is being able to see through the glass on the door again.

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 02/05/2012 13:51

I'm sort of getting my oven cleaned - new cooker arriving on Friday...

But the old one has to be relatively clean for them to take it away, so I'm out with the oven cleaner tonight after work (cba paying for a cleaning on one that's being thrown out).

I may treat my new cooker to a professional cleaning when it gets dirty - start as I mean to go on!

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 02/05/2012 13:52

By "out with the oven cleaner" I mean I am taking out the spray can of chemicals and covering the oven with it, not going out on a date with the oven cleaner man!

tara0202 · 02/05/2012 14:09

You have inspired me to book one! My oven door glass is a disgrace! Man is coming on the 11th May - £39. V excited!

madasa · 02/05/2012 14:09

tantrumsandballoons · 02/05/2012 14:11

madasa · 02/05/2012 14:13

tantrumsandballoons · 02/05/2012 14:15

aaah £30 not £0 :)

tabbycat7 · 02/05/2012 14:16

Can anybody recommend an oven cleaning man/woman in the King's Lynn area? I really can't be arsed to scrape 4 years' worth of dirt off mine :)

madasa · 02/05/2012 14:17

Have just had a second quote....£100

tantrumsandballoons · 02/05/2012 14:22

madasa, what area are you in?
thats ridiculously expensive????

madasa · 02/05/2012 14:26

Hi tantrumsandballoons
I'm in Kent
I think it may be because I've got a ridiculous double range oven because it's the only bloody thing that fitted in the sodding gap when we moved in

TheScottishPlayer · 02/05/2012 14:26

I paid £80 for mine last year, but that included the hood, replacing the filter, and making the bits on the hob all shiny again. It was amazing.

I was very surprised when he told me he'd replace the bulb too, I had long forgotten that it had a bulb.

This thread has however reminded me that the liner I bought in Lakeland is still in my cupboard and the bottom of the oven is dirty. Gah.

tantrumsandballoons · 02/05/2012 14:26

oh maybe thats why ;(

madasa · 02/05/2012 14:29

Yes....I didn't take that into consideration before I started getting excited....duh!

The guy I booked for £39 (I have a normal single door oven) charged about £89 for ranges. For my £39 though he does replace the hood filter and light bulbs! This is in Nottingham.

madasa · 02/05/2012 15:41

That's worth considering smalltown as I don't use the grill or the left hand oven either.

The main grimy, filthy, disgusting problem is the glass splash back/hob cover
