oven cleaner or persil or bicarb of soda.

Thumbwitch · 28/01/2012 13:16

Brillo pad? Is it non-stick pan or stainless steel?
Boiling hot water and dishwasher tablet might work better. Or if you have any soda crystals, they would work too but it might be an idea to do that outside...
Possibly oven cleaner?

NoMoreMarbles · 28/01/2012 13:17

Put hot water and a bit of washing up liquid and put to boil on the job for 10 mins...works for meSmile

Or white spirit vinegar and bicarb...

NoMoreMarbles · 28/01/2012 13:18

The HOB not jobBlush

BiltongandBoerewors · 28/01/2012 13:19

A few tbsp of bicarb, top up with water and boil for 10mins - leave to cool in pot then wash out.

laptopdancer · 28/01/2012 13:19

My other used to do something with bicarbonate of soda.im not sure if it was with water or just the soda as it is but she heated burnt pans with it on the stove. It kind of froths.

Marne · 28/01/2012 13:19

I agree with NoMore, i used to be a chef and would use this technique a lot on burnt pans.

ledkr · 28/01/2012 13:20

Boil it up with some washing powder in it,for a while-dont burn that tho as i have done before Grin failing that fairy oven cleaner will get it off.

CarrieAnnRegardless · 28/01/2012 13:22

A proper scourer.

ZeldaUpNorth · 28/01/2012 13:23

Boil cola in it, used to work on mine.

Ineedacleaneriamalazyslattern · 28/01/2012 13:38

Agree with boiling it on the hob don't let it go completely cold before you clean it.

Hollyfoot · 28/01/2012 13:40

This will sort it. From Wilkos or supermarkets. Wonderful stuff. Just sling some in the pan with water and leave overnight.

duckdodgers · 28/01/2012 13:41

Cola apparently is really good.

flamingtoaster · 28/01/2012 13:41

Biological washing powder dissolved in hot water and then leave it for a day or two - works wonders (not that I would know about burning saucepans of course ...).

queenebay · 28/01/2012 13:42

soak with washing powder in it

Thingumy · 28/01/2012 13:43

Agree with Hollyfoot's suggestion

dh is currently cleaning our minging oven with soda crystals while I sit on MN Grin

Heleninahandcart · 28/01/2012 14:06

White vinegar, lid on and heat gently on hob till steamy. Turn off, keep lid on swoosh around when you remember. Then scrub if you still need to.

zookeeper · 28/01/2012 14:07

fill it with boiling water and a dishwasher tab, simmer for a few minutes and wash - it should come away

loopylou6 · 28/01/2012 14:27

Yes boil coke in it. dont you watch how clean is your house :)

StealthPolarBear · 28/01/2012 14:46

Thanks everyone am boiling washing up liquid in, if not will dig put the oven pride. Washing powder usually does the trick for me, I'm no stranger to burning food but this must be really tough

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 28/01/2012 14:48

Oh and might try coke but with the price of it it might be cheaper to get a new pan

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 28/01/2012 15:04

The soapy water definitely did some good but its still caked on. Now the coke

i do the 2 methods mentioned here- bicarb coated on the bottom for bit then swish some water in it and boil it till it starts to lift then I get a butter knife and flake off the burnt bits. let it cool a little then scrub with a goldilocks scourer. failing that dishwashing liquid great big squirt, water and boil it scrape with the knife and scour. Some one I knows buries them in the garden with the handle up...never tried it...apparently works!!

mamababa · 28/01/2012 15:24

Fairy power spray

Scholes34 · 28/01/2012 15:34

Hob-brite - slightly abrasive and on sale at a knock down price in Aldi at the moment. So pleased when I picked some up yesterday. It works wonders on my 20 year old Le Crueset pans.
