i want a nice dinnerware set. Where everything matches and is lovely. I currently have no more than three of anything the same, and rather a lot of odds and ends. So, inspire me with your sexy dinnerware

Watching with interest....and I'd like different shaped plates!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/07/2011 21:20

Blocking hell, Lemon. I want diamond studded for that price!

OK, this is exactly the kind of challenge I like. Do you have a budget? Does it need to be new for that or would you collect it off Ebay?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/07/2011 21:25

I'd like to get lovely, sexy dinnerware for under....£75. and I don't want plain White. And I like chunky. And flowers.

OP posts:
LemonDifficult · 09/07/2011 21:28

How many settings for that?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/07/2011 21:29

At least 4, but ideally 6

over budget but have a look in this range not chunky or floral but fun - there are some other nice chunky things from Habitat too and they'll all probably be on discount soon enough

LemonDifficult · 09/07/2011 21:35

Again, not totally chunky but definitely useable

pallymama · 09/07/2011 21:39

chunky, floral, and £75! Grin

LemonDifficult · 09/07/2011 21:47

Pally, I admit defeat

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/07/2011 22:04

Oh. Well, yes. It is floral. But it's also making my eyes bleed a bit. Maybe subtle floral would be more....acceptable.

What did you think of the Rachel Barker stuff?

I like it, lemon. But I will never convince DH that I need to spend £15 on a cereal bowl. Never ever.

Eternal Beau?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 10/07/2011 12:26

Erm, not really me. A bit...fussy. I like plates to be round.

Over budget and out of production, but I absolutely love my Wedgwood Painted Garden set. If you can find it somewhere, it's absolutely worth the money.

I also have Villeroy & Boch's Castellina set for everyday use, it's very high quality and extremely durable and just within your budget (I ordered my set from Germany and it arrived in perfect condition).

Dare to be different and buy the best (mixed non matching) at charity shops. It can look wonderful a la Kirsty Allsop.

Jackaroo · 11/07/2011 03:02

This may be slightly more patterned than you're looking for... but my parents bought it for me for my wedding present.

I have nothing else to add.

slightly over-the-top

LemonDifficult · 11/07/2011 03:37

I like it - doesn't look chunky though... (Doesn't look cheap either)

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/07/2011 08:21

Jackaroo, I like that. If I had a formal dining room, I would have it. But alas, I have a tiny round table wedged in the corner of the kitchen. That dinnerware is above my table's station.

Well, thank you ChickNo, I do too. Although it was better in our teeny dark red dining room in London victorian house than in our 1960s australian home now. It's on it's way over the sea as we speak, all 28 dinner plates of it Shock plus hundreds of other pieces. The lady who we bought it from had collected it over teh years (every time there was a buffet or similar) and assured me she'd never let "the staff" clean it. My very own little piece of Downton Abbey :-)

Fizzylemonade · 11/07/2011 11:58

Well having had white dinner plates for years, I have square ones now from M&S, I decided to rummage in the loft and find the dinner set that we bought when we got married. It has been stashed since we had children as we loved it so much we didn't want it to be broken.

So it is now in the cupboards and I have just eaten a little cake off one of the tea plates.

I went searching on line to show it to you, (I like it but I find everyone's taste in dinnerware is different) and I realised how expensive it is compared to my white M&S! Shock Will be eating with care now.

this

I have 12 of the dinner plates, small tea plates, plus "starter" plates, bowls, noodle bowls and a massive glass platter. As much as I love it if I can sell it for what the website can I would do it Grin
