Welcome, come away in you?ll have had your Brew. This is the April Fledgling Flyers Thread.

Thanks to WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes who was champion at leading us through March.

We are trying to stick to the Flylady © Website and her baby steps and routines to help keep our houses out of C.H.A.O.S and ready for everyday, maybe the odd visitor or two.

Check her website out but don?t sign up for emails as they are likely to inspire but fill your inbox so full we might not see you till August. Grin

The principles are:

Babysteps (one at a time)
Babysteps and 15 minutes daily decluttering
Babysteps and daily missions.

This month I will be posting the links and leading you down the road to building a routine and keeping your house under control.

It is amazing what you can achieve in a simple babystep,15 minutes a day and a little Wink chat.

Well I did find a bit of motivation. Ive done the ironing Grin and Ive wiped down the kids table (something that doesnt didnt get done as much as it should) which I intend to wipe every night now to avoid the build-up. They do have placemats which got changed all the time. But now the table is clean and it is to stay that way.

Im debating the back garden. The problem is I need DH to help me get set up and he's not available at the mo :( Its not a big deal I will put it in my todo list for this week.

Right tomorrows list:

  1. start washing machine off with load that is in it
  2. Hang clothes up/put them in the drier
  3. Iron earlier load
  4. go to town to take some forms to the council and a bit of window shopping for when we next have some money Grin
  5. Wipe down kitchen side
  6. wipe down kids table
  7. fill washing machine ready for Tues
  8. one of the gardens depending how long we are in town for.
  9. get in touch with friend to see what the plan for Tues is.

Oooh thats looking more like it. A bit of a longer list. I feel my motivation popping to say hello Grin

Sorry there's no personals as Ive just previewed my messages and I cant see anything.

Have a good time in Whitby whoever that was.

Envy to those of you sitting in the garden enjoying the sun. Ours needs cutting first and sorting out. Will get there this summer though.

NettieSpaghetti · 17/04/2011 20:16

Good evening all.

I have downed my fly lady tools and am thoroughly fed up. DH is off working on the boat again. (I suppose I did see him last night and he says he told me) [sceptical] As we don?t communicate well on these issues who knows. Confused

Today my list

  1. smoke alarms - done
  2. get dressed and ds dressed-done
  3. decide where to take them for the day-done, in laws and playpark
  4. finish putting away my clothes-nope
  5. washing on-done
  6. visit in laws-done
  7. prepare faijitas for dinner-nope crappy mc d?s
  8. get car cleaned inside and out as am driving a car load to agm on monday night and dont think people will want to sit in the crumbs.-nope were hoping the car cleaning chaps next to crappy mcd?s were open but not.

I have also:- moved all dc books upstairs. Moved old unit upstairs to put books in. tried to tidy up ensueing mess and swept floors. Also had a proud moment as ds has learnt to read 3 of the 100 basic words. Grin it?s a start.

Instead of doing anymore, I am now watching Mamma Mia as you all talking about it made me want to watch it again.

scatty had a busy crafty, (making the inside of a tardis) Shock occupying dcs type day, well done you.
myhouse was lacking in motivation this morning but did excel at rather a large list. She is staring listfully at her garden hoping for the garden pixies to turn up. (sorry am I projecting Grin)
lady had brill flying this morning and was having friends round for the afternoon. And im sure I read she was washing her washing machine in Calpol! Confused
caramel doughnut is inspiring us all with meal planning. Think I will sign up for one weeks examples. There is only so much braised mince based dishes one can eat. Hope you get dc off to bed early so you can chill.

Right off to watch Mamma mia followed by eyebrow reshaping and bath. (TMI) Grin

Have a good night, links in a mo.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 17/04/2011 20:43

Evening all,

A pottering sort of day today. DS went to a party this morning and DH tookDD ice skating and out for lunch. Lots of playing outdoors and trying to prise DS away from the telly. He is a bit obsessed with football, we have Sky Sports, with the potential to watch one game after another all weekend, so it is quite difficult trying to keep it off.

Scatty - that's what I have always done in the past, put stuff in the loft and then got rid of it when they aren't around, now they are a bit older they are fully aware of what has disappeared and what is in the loft, it is harder. Last year I wanted to change my old pink patterned lounge curtains for some cream ones, I went into a shop with DD and told the lady I wanted some new lounge curtains and DD went mad, saying I was not to throw away the old ones, this went on for a few days. A few weeks later I did change them, and gave away the old ones, she has either never noticed or didn't really care that much, it was all her making her point.

Re the meal planning, I had a look at the example menu on menus4mums, but 2 of them I wouldn't eat, 3 of them at least one of DD or DS wouldn't eat, so wouldn't really work for us. I get most of my recipes from BBC Good Food magazine. On my long term list of things to do is have a go through some of my older cookbooks, scan the few pages that I do actually use and get rid of a lot of them, never quite get round to it though.

janeyjampot · 17/04/2011 21:35

Hello,

Forget the menu planning, I'm living on cake in a tent with Linzer! Grin

Well, I'd have been less ambitious today with the basic flying if I'd remembered it was St George's Day, and that the DDs would be busy all afternoon and need us for moral support in their parade. Church took all morning, and was a bit scary because there were far more children than I'd anticipated for my junior church session (I naively thought they'd all be on holiday), and then we rushed home to grab lunch and find Guide uniforms before the usual fight over who was carrying the flag etc.

Then later we went to collect the caravan from the farm where we keep it to get it ready to go away in this week, bumped into some friends and ended up drinking wine in the caravan on our drive to the undoubted horror of our neighbours. So not a lot got done, but we learned how to relax in the caravan and grow thick skins, which was not a bad thing.

All in all a good day - hope everyone else enjoyed it too.

BlueEyeshadow · 17/04/2011 22:27

Another good day, on the whole. Today's DS1 drama was over tooth-brushing. [roll eyes] Got everything done that I wanted to though. We got the necessary bit for the dishwasher and it's now working. We've never had one before but I'm liking the lack of dishes cluttering up the worktop, esp. as DH is doing the unloading before I get up! Grin I'd live on a diet of Kaffee und Kuchen too...

Tomorrow:
Weekly shop
Put away
Other errands
More stuff to charity shops
Laundry
Morning and evening routines
Attempt not to lose it with DS1
Er, that'll do!

Night, all. Yawn.

Toffeefudgecake · 18/04/2011 00:51

Nettie - well done to your DS! Grin

WhoKnows - I can understand your uncertainty about Menus4Mums. To be honest, I am not sure how many of us will eat the recipes either as DH often comes in late and eats separately and DS2 will only eat pasta and homemade vegetable sauce. However, I enjoy having a new 'project' and DS1 and I will enjoy the different food. Also, I like the fact that I don't have to agonise over which meals to cook each day - plus, I saved money on my shopping this week.

Janey - sounds like a very busy day, with a most enjoyable ending!

BlueEyeshadow - how wonderful to have a new dishwasher! I love mine so much. I had to go without for nearly a year when our old one broke and we couldn't afford a new one - it was awful. I could see the hours of my life ebbing away as I stood at the sink washing up over and over and over again (truly 'chained to the kitchen sink'). Never again! I especially like your DH doing the unloading first thing - very good!

Not much flying done today, but I have cleaned up the kitchen and shined my sink tonight. I have also loaded the washing machine with the first wash for tomorrow morning. Oh, and I did a Tesco order online, due tomorrow. DH had a go at decluttering in the bedroom, so the great clear up continues.

Took the boys out to an 'Easter Fun Day' today. It gave them a chance to run around in the sunshine for a bit. I thought it might cheer up DS1, who is very low at the moment, and it did help him at first, but then he grew anxious and wanted to come home. Later, we planted some more seeds in our little vegetable boxes: tomatoes; pumpkins; and sweetcorn.

My list for Monday:

Dress
Breakfasts
S&S
D/W - unload
W/M
T/D
Email work
Ring CAMHS to chase up appt for DS1 as nothing seems to be happening Confused
10 - 12 Tesco delivery
Lunch
Walk to bank and chemist
4 - 6 Plumber here to mend leaky tap in the bathroom at long, long last
4.30 Cook dinner (are you doing Chicken and Tomato Rice as well, Caramel?)
5ish Dinner
Load d/w
Before-bed routine
Bed at decent hour (unlike tonight Hmm)

Am not even going to attempt the 'home blessing'.

Goodnight all.

LinzerTorte · 18/04/2011 07:48

First day of the Easter holidays here today, so I had a lie-in until 6.45 am (DH asked whether I was feeling OK). I'm on my own with DD1 and DS at the moment, as DD2 stayed overnight with a friend and we won't be picking her up until late morning.

Toffee The Easter Fun Day sounded good; sorry to hear your DS is feeling low, though.

Blue I have the opposite problem with DD1, who is quite likely to "forget" to clean half her teeth if I don't supervise her closely.

janey Wine in a caravan sounds like fun. Smile I'm with you on the cake - who needs menu planning?

Nettie Sorry to hear you were feeling fed up; I hope Mamma Mia cheered you up. Well done to your DS on reading the first three words (that reminds me that I ought to get the ORT books out for DS again, as he really enjoys trying to read them, although teaching children to read before they start school is slightly frowned upon here).

myhouse Glad to hear you've rediscovered your motivation; mine keeps going AWOL.

Caramel At least if you're just starting to fly, you only really need to worry about the babysteps this month. I really must shine my sink today if nothing else (but am determined to at least have a go at getting my routines done).

WhoKnows I'm also trying to declutter all my recipes books/folders/recipes cut out of magazines/recipe magazines, etc etc.

I'm not sure that Menus4Mums would work for us either, partly because it's not always easy to get hold of ingredients for English recipes over here. I've never seen lamb in the supermarket (or indeed sheep anywhere in Austria) and would have problems tracking down tortillas too, for example. I rarely need to cook more than a couple of meals a week anyway, as we live on meals from the freezer the rest of the time. The DC eat such small portions that one meal will do us several times (I only eat the same as them if they're having something vegetarian and DH has a hot meal at work, so just makes himself a snack when he gets home). And they usually have friends here for tea at least once a week, when there's no point in me serving anything other than pizza or plain pasta.

List for this morning:

Routine
15 min decluttering
Mission
DD1: homework (school/dyslexia lesson)
Pick up DD2
Get DC to draw pictures and write cards for my dad's birthday on Friday

Had better make a start - the DC still aren't dressed, so that's no. 1 on the list!

scattyspice · 18/04/2011 08:19

Morning all Smile.

First day of the holidays for us too Linzer (though my lie in lasted until 7.45!).

Today:
ironing
recycling
floors
banking
go to park with dd's friend
kids tea
take friend home

Feeling sluggish today Hmm.

Toffeefudgecake · 18/04/2011 12:09

Welcome to the Easter holidays, Linzer and Scatty.

Felt sluggish this morning too, Scatty, but that's my own silly fault for going to bed too late again. If only I could just squeeze an extra couple of hours into the evening so that I could do everything I wanted without going to bed too late.

So far, today:

Dress done
Breakfasts done
S&S done
D/W - unload done
W/M done
T/D
Email work
Ring CAMHS to chase up appt for DS1 as nothing seems to be happening done - woman is meant to be calling me back today
10 - 12 Tesco delivery arrived and put away
Lunch
Walk to bank and chemist
4 - 6 Plumber here to mend leaky tap in the bathroom at long, long last
4.30 Cook dinner (are you doing Chicken and Tomato Rice as well, Caramel?)
5ish Dinner
Load d/w
Before-bed routine
Bed at decent hour

I said I wasn't going to attempt the blessing, but decided I really should give the bathroom a good clean, rather than just a swish and a swipe, as the plumber will be in there this afternoon. So I have decluttered all the bath toys, cleaned the surfaces, hoovered and washed the floor and hung a new towel up, as well as the usual swishing and swiping Smile.

Irritatingly, DS2's Easter egg was crushed in the Tesco bags, so I have a new thing to do as well - request an exchange for the next delivery on Friday.

It's a glorious, sunny day. We are going into town soon to do some chores, which is not very exciting for the children, but necessary for me. At least it will get them some fresh air and exercise.

It'll be my first attempt at a Menus4Mums recipe tonight!

Hope you all have a lovely day.

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 18/04/2011 13:09

Hello everyone, lovely sunny day here in York Grin

Today so far I have:

  1. start washing machine off with load that is in it - done
  2. Hang clothes up/put them in the drier - done
  3. Iron earlier load
  4. go to town to take some forms to the council and a bit of window shopping for when we next have some money Grin - done
  5. Wipe down kitchen side - done
  6. wipe down kids table - done times 1, to do again after tea
  7. fill washing machine ready for Tues - after dinner
  8. one of the gardens depending how long we are in town for.
  9. get in touch with friend to see what the plan for Tues is. - done she text me yesterday

Have been absolutley worn out while pottering round town this morning. Right now Im just having a few mins relax.

Unfortunately no garden pixies to tidy it for me, but Im feeling quite motivated to get some done this aft.

Envy to those of you with dishwashers. We cant have one as we have nowhere to put it :( How much cleaner would it look in our kitchen if we could hide put dirty dishes in the dishwasher out of site. ATM we leave them for a bit. CBA to wash up straight after eating.

We are quite good at menu planning, though we do seem to have a bit of a routine with our meals. We ask the kids what they want for tea and go with that, but we do our main shopping on a Friday and get things in for our teas then.

I will be back later, hopefully with a full list of things I have done :)

NettieSpaghetti · 18/04/2011 16:25

Good afternoon.

Mamma Mia was fab and an early night has helped lift my mood.

Today we have had a lovely family day, The Pier, rides, lunch, softplay and some more rides. Now ds is eating dinner. DD is exhausted and fast asleep. Dh has gone to get the car washed for me. I have got to get ready for Agm in a mo so going to do an early round up tonight.

who knows hope you had a nice day today, pottering always sounds lovely to me.
blue enjoy your dishwasher. We had a meltdown yesterday because I chose the wrong seat at McDs?? There is just no telling what will cause the next one. Grin.
janey thick skins and relaxation sounds fantastic to me. Glad parades went ok and church group even though hectic.
toffee hope your menu for mums meal goes down alright tonight. Well done for attempting home blessing on top of that huge list. Your vegetable boxes sound delightful.
linzer what are OTR books? They frown on teaching here too as im not very good at sticking to the phonics and have already been told off by ds Montessori teacher. For telling him his name begain with an E, capital E and not a little e. Hmm My dc eat like horses I cant keep freezer fully stocker. Hope you had a good day.
scatty well done on lie in. I hope you got a wee bit more energy as the day went on.
myhouse I feel for you being dishwasher less. In our last house we had a miniscule kitchen area which we had to do and I put in a dishwasher instead of storage. I was that desperate to have one. Hope you have recovered from your jaunt round town. Here I forgot you had a baby growing, blimey girl let the garden go. I attempting mine now cos dd is now 2.5 but havent doen any real gardening since ds was born 4.5 years ago.

Right I apologise and give huge waves to anyone who hasn?t popped in yet. Catch up tomorrow. Off to get ready for a nice meal and a wee bitta meeting of which I know nowt about so will be trying to glean information. I am going to be secretary of a similar group next year so better start putting my brain in gear.

Bye bye for now.

OP posts:
Toffeefudgecake · 18/04/2011 16:32

Sounds like a really lovely day, Nettie. Thanks for fitting in the round up too.

Myhouse - sorry you don't have a dishwasher Sad. What about one of those stand-on-the-counter types? Or a slim one? We thought we couldn't fit a tumbledrier in, but in the end we fitted it in the cupboard under the stairs.

The plumber has cancelled, but I am actually quite pleased because I had only just remembered, when we got home from our excursion into town, that he would have to go into every room to check the radiators Shock and this gives me time to tidy up a bit. His visit is proving a good incentive to get things done. My bathroom looks very clean and tidy now.

I missed the CAMHS woman phoning me back, so I am going to do that now, which puts our dinner back a bit. However, the children are quiet and busy, so this is a good moment.

scattyspice · 18/04/2011 16:37

Sounds like a nice day nettie.

We got our 1st dishwasher last month myhouse and it has changed my life!

Managed to get a few jobs done this morning (incld ironing) as dc quite content to be home after their very busy past week.
Unfortunately this aft has been a bit trying as we have been looking after boy from DDs class (his mum has chicken pox Sad), he didn't want anything to do with DD and just wanted to play with Ds (as he is older), DS played with him for a while then lost interest so all 3 have been trouble! Angry I dragged out the trip to the park for as long as possible, now they are eating pizza and I can take friend home soon.

Still need to bless the house Hmm.

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 18/04/2011 16:58

I have done the garden. Only the front one. The back one is booked in for Thursday Grin

Re the dishwasher, We dont have anywhere to plumb it into though. I assume its like a washine machine in the fact it needs somewhere to be plumbed in. Ive never actually had one (anywhere Ive lived, as a student, in a shared house or with my parents) so its a bit like I dont know what Im missing. Just want one so I can hide the dirty dishes Wink and pretend they're not there. Perhaps I should get DH to put up a cupboard for me for that.

LinzerTorte · 18/04/2011 17:35

Have had a lovely day here; it's been nice and sunny, so we've spent virtually all day in the garden (which meant I didn't actually get much flying done in the end Blush). DD1 and DS played really well together until we picked DD2 up, which made a nice change, and we had friends over this afternoon.

Now waiting for DD1's friend to arrive, who's supposed to be staying the night; she's getting quite concerned, as we'd arranged with her dad that she'd come over at around 4 pm. Even if he'd confused 1600 hrs with 6 o'clock (which I think only we Brits do), she should have arrived by now. I've tried phoning her dad, but no reply. This was the friend who let her down about a month ago, when we'd arranged for DD1 to go and play there but her friend ended up going home from school with another girl from their class (and none of the parents involved apologised, which was what really annoyed me).

Nettie ORT = Oxford Reading Tree, which doesn't seem to be very popular on MN but DS loves the books (calling Chip "Chicken" is a source of endless amusement to him).

DD1's friend's dad has just phoned - he'd taken his DD to visit a baby (no idea whose) in hospital, but will bring her in about an hour's time (7.30 pm here). I'd made her favourite pizza as well (salami, but she takes the salami off), although the DC have eaten it all by now anyway. No apology again either, and it would have been nice if he could have phoned beforehand to let me know they'd be 3.5 hours late. Grr.

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 18/04/2011 19:43

Evening all,

Right todays list

  1. start washing machine off with load that is in it - done
  2. Hang clothes up/put them in the drier - done
  3. Iron earlier load - done
  4. go to town to take some forms to the council and a bit of window shopping for when we next have some money - done
  5. Wipe down kitchen side - done
  6. wipe down kids table - done
  7. fill washing machine ready for Tues - done
  8. one of the gardens depending how long we are in town for - done
  9. get in touch with friend to see what the plan for Tues is. - done she text me yesterday

I have also done an extra load of a towel as while we were getting the kids bath ready the cat decided to use a towel as a toilet Angry. Its now getting dry in the washer. Good job I hadnt loaded machine for tomorrow yet, I must be psychic. I was honestly going to do it about 2ish, but never got round to it. Now I know why. Bloody cat.

Im feeling quite good that I actually managed to accomplish my full list. Im feeling rather pleased [smug smiley]

Not going to be a big one tomorrow as I will be out most of the day.

  1. start washing machine off with load that is in it
  2. Hang clothes up/put them in the drier
  3. Iron earlier load
  4. meet friend and her DD for picnic in the park
  5. Wipe down kitchen side
  6. wipe down kids table
  7. fill washing machine ready for Wed

Im still waiting for some clothes bags to come through our door. Now Ive made a definate decision to fill them as soon as they come with old decent clothes I dont get one, typical.

Nettie Glad to hear mama mia lifted your mood. Your planned day today sounded like my idea of a perfect day out. Grin

Linzer DS brings the oxford reading tree books home from school. Is chip the real name of the child or has it got another name and chip is the nickname? Seems a strange name to me, I thought it was the dog at first Blush Obviously I realise its chip as its easy to read, just think its a stange name to call your DS (apologies to anyone who has actually called their son Chip). Also grrr to the parent of dd1's friend. Not very polite of them. Anyway hope your DD has a good night with friend.

Hi to everyone else.

Toffeefudgecake · 18/04/2011 21:34

Final list:

Dress done
Breakfasts done
S&S done
D/W - unload done
W/M done
T/D - done
Email work do tomorrow
Ring CAMHS to chase up appt for DS1 as nothing seems to be happening done - woman did not call back
10 - 12 Tesco delivery arrived and put away
Lunch done
Walk to bank and chemist done
4 - 6 Plumber here to mend leaky tap in the bathroom at long, long last postponed
Text friend re meeting up tomorrow done
4.30 Cook dinner done (Chicken and Tomato Rice was popular here, apart from with DS2, who ate pasta again. How did it go down with your family, Caramel?)
5ish Dinner done
Load d/w done
Before-bed routine done
Played Junior Monopoly
Put rubbish out
Bed at decent hour definitely

Linzer - that is really rude (unless his wife didn't tell him what time you were expecting them). Grr. DS2 loves ORT, btw.

Scatty - what a difficult playdate!

Myhouse - well done on completing your list!

Ds1 and DH are watching a film, which leaves me free to browse and then have an early night.

Night all.

BlueEyeshadow · 18/04/2011 22:33

Grr indeed, Linzer. I'd be fuming! Is punctuality not such a big deal in Austria as Germany or is it just this family?!

Managed to finish my list, although not losing it with DS1 only by the skin of my teeth! We got through till almost bedtime before having a huge fight about putting away all the cars he got out... Mind you, I nearly had a meltdown in Sainsbury's café when they said I couldn't have my hot cross bun toasted because it was after 11.30! Hmm

Ended up having to take both boys with me to try on sports bras as I seem to have decluttered my old one at some point. DS1 informed the shop very loudly that he didn't want to look at my tummy and that DS2 wanted to feed on my milk (he's been weaned for 9 months now!) Blush. It is quite funny in retrospect though. Spent the afternoon in the garden though and managed to declutter several more bags to charity shops.

Tomorrow's list:
Laundry and putting away
More charity shop bags
Hopefully get rid of stereo via freecycle (2 people have failed to turn up now grr!)
Messy church and lunch in café
Downstairs hotspots
Afternoon's work
Back up PC
Get DH to get cases out of loft

scatty - hope you've recovered from your trying afternoon! I always find other people's children much harder than my own!

Well done on the list MyHouse

Sounds like a productive day for toffee too. There's nothing like strangers in the house for motivation! Grr to Tesco for crushing the egg.

Hope the AGM went well nettie.

Waves to anyone I've missed. Night all.

ColdHeartedBitch · 19/04/2011 01:10

Evening.
Hope all are ok.
good weekend, lazy day after craziness of weekend.
Now off for sleep.
perhaps will get some flying done tomo.

LinzerTorte · 19/04/2011 06:08

Morning all,

Was hoping to have a leisurely browse of MN over breakfast, but DD2 and DS have just got up - rather annoying, as they would still be fast asleep at this time if it was a school day. Goodness knows what time DD1 and her friend went to sleep; I could still hear them talking when I went to bed and noticed that their light was on when I got up, so went in to switch it off.

Am still a little annoyed about DD1's friend arriving so late - it wasn't even the lateness so much as the fact that her dad didn't phone beforehand to let me know (and didn't mention anything when he dropped her off). We'd made the arrangements with him, so he had no excuse for not knowing. I told him she could stay for lunch today if she liked, and he said he'd pick her up at around 4 or 5 pm!

A friend of DS's plus his little sister are arriving at 11 am; their parents are getting divorced today. Sad They'll be staying overnight so I'll have a full house today; at least it looks like it's going to be another nice day, so I'm hoping we can spend most of the time in the garden again.

CHB I'll probably be joining you in the naughty corner today as I don't have great hopes of getting much flying done.

Blue Well done on the decluttering and getting through till almost bedtime without any fighting (we only managed until late morning here).
Re punctuality: it's only this particular family that I've had problems with (they're Eastern European); all my Austrian friends are fairly punctual (or at least will let me know if they're going to be late).

Toffee There's an ORT DVD? Will definitely have to look into that.

myhouse I don't quite understand why the children in the ORT books have such strange names, either - the other two children in the books we have are Biff and Kipper (and I keep thinking Kipper is the dog!). I suppose the word chip might be quite useful to be able to read in other contexts, but can't imagine biff and kipper coming up very often otherwise.

Will go and have a shower while DD2 and DS are being entertained by the TV and then make a start on my morning routine (even if I only manage to empty the dishwasher and make the beds).

NettieSpaghetti · 19/04/2011 07:40

good morning, very sleepy here, late night (agm was a tough one as noone stepping up to take over, im a newbie and taking over somewhere else so cant commit to two) and ds up at 4.30 meant me being awake for ages. Have spent a long time listening to Paul McKenna and trying not to shout at noisy birds Grin

Breakfast is going really well for dh. Both dc screaming intermittently so im hiding out in here. Grin

Links for today

babystep

Im going to post a list to keep me motivated.

Morning all,

Linzer grr at inconsiderate father, you are very kind having so many other people's children awt your house, he should be a bit more considerate.

Myhouse, Biff etc are nicknames, I think Biff is Barbara? We're on our third year of them and I still have to think about which one is the girl. silly names! I'm quite fond of them though.

Nettie - that's the problem with committees, getting someone else to take over. I was on our local NCT committee in some role or other for over 6 years, which was at least 3 years longer than I really wanted to be, the last few I was just doing their website and email, but I just couldn't find anyone to twke over, finally got shot of it a couple of months ago.

Well, the DCs were despatched to their GPs yesterday morning, so I went to work, came home, had to go and water the school gardening club beds and greenhouse stuff. It is all growing very nicely. Then went for a run, and out for a meal with DH, which was nice. Off to work again for a couple of hours this morning, then to a friend's for coffee, followed by some serious decluttering of DD's room before the DCs get back.

Hello!

Spent most of yesterday sorting out caravan and finishing last minute work so that I can leave it alone for a couple of days. Sorting out the caravan was mostly fun except DH seemed a bit on edge - I think he'll be fine once we get going though. We managed to work out how it all works - water, hot water, electricity etc, and to some extent where everything should live. It's a bit like having another house in that respect!

Today I've been for a run, done 2 loads of washing (just need to put 2nd on the line) and finished my Simnel cake, as DH informed me that his parents are coming to visit us in the caravan for 'tea and cake' tomorrow Biscuit.

Linzer you always seem to have a house full of other people's children! I don't know how you do it. I'm a complete introvert and find having other people in very stressful after a while. I'm in awe of your hospitality.

Nettie I've been in the same position on endless committees, all with the same people all the time regardless of what kind of committee it is. I think it works best when there's a time limit of x years so that you have to step down. That way people are more prepared to step up, knowing they won't be playgroup chair when their kids are at university...
