Do you iron your DH's /DP's clothes?

I am having a bit of a revolt at present due to my work changing. Have always worked p/t and from home for much of it, but now I am busier and work around 3.5- 4 days a week, mainly afternoons up to 6.30pm.
I cook from scratch every night, do all the food shopping, cleaning, washing etc .

DH does bin emptying and IT stuff, etc, but that's it except running repairs when needed.

I feel the balance is a bit wrong. I can't afford a cleaner or ironer - well, I could but would rather spend it in other ways- so what is a fair balance?

I was thinking that if he ironed his own shirts and we had a snacky dinner some nights with me eating at lunchtime ( hehas a big meal at work) it would be fairer.

I don't want to pay a cleaner. £80 a month or so is too much. There is not a lot of work if it was shared-but there is if I have to do it all.

I do DH's ironing and mine, DD does her own (or doesn't is more the case!)

DH does all the cooking. DD does all the clearing up and dishwasher stuff. I do the gardening. Which is a fab split imho, as the garden is closed until spring! Grin

Your husband sees no reason to get bogged down by domestic drudgery every weekend and I cant see why you do.

If you dont want to be a 1950's housewife then stop being one. You said your husband doesnt see what needs doing and that's because it doesnt need doing. I've never cleaned a window in my life.

Your husband has quite a fulfilling weekend doing stuff that he enjoys doing. Why dont you do the same, go to the gym with him, potter about town, have lunch out etc.

The only reason I can see why you dont do anything more worthwhile is because you have nothing better to do with your time.

We both work FT and even when we didn't £40 a week was a god send to get the house clean without having the arguments about who was going to do it, or the resentment from the one who did (me)

Having a cleaner is about far more than the cash you spend. It's the best £160 a month we spend.............

Yes I iron everything clothes wise (obv not knickers etc), but only mon-fri.

I work a half late, half night shift, so I get the housework and food prep done for the dcs and dh getting in, and before I go to work.

Dh does everything housework related at the weekends as he doesn't work sat/sun, and that includes changing beds, dusting and tidying the whole house.

I iron in front of the tv, and the rule is that whoever irons picks the programme.

We both iron in batches, pretty much whatever is in the clean laundry basket, unless some particular item is needed soonish, then that get priority. Other than that, I hate ironing! Smile

Trifle- what a mean post!

I have plenty to do with my time thanks, but I don't want to live in a slum.

I fit in my busy life around housework. The weekend before last i went to London for the day on my own, -went to 2 galleries, shopped, had my lunch out- and left DH to it! Normally i would meet my friend as well but she was away on hols.

You have never cealned a window in your life? Well either you can't see out of them now, or you have someone else clean them!

I do it all.

Near enough accepted now that he runs, manages the farm & plant hire including 250 acre farm and I do the kids and home.

Yes, its hard but to me its no hardship doing his ironing.

On the otherhand, I do get peed off when he cant even open the dishwasher door - arse!
