Curious because lately I've let things slip (understatement!) and I need to know what things to do everyday to keep on top of it all again.

Sweep/hoover and mop all floors. Why do the floorboards get so bloody dusty?

Put the recycling out.

Do the dishes (dp or dd does that)

Change the sheets.

Put bleach stuff down the loo and clean the seat.

Clean the bathroom (dd does that)

Tidy up the sitting room (put books away, wipe coffee table, plump cushions etc)

Wipe down sides and cupboard doors in kitchen (DON'T get a bastard glossy white kitchen with black granite tops anyone, it is a nightmare to keep clean)

Usually 2 washes so all the launrdy needs sorting/drying and putting away etc.

every day : something in the kitchen/bathroom, doing the washing

MayorNaze · 19/11/2010 12:47

GetOrf I am going to come to your house, jump on your bed and do what 4 year old dd likes to do on my fresh changed pillowcases ie sit on them, wiggle from side to side and shout BUTTPRINT!!!

Grin
Fluteyboots · 19/11/2010 12:58

I wish I did all these things, I really do.
Will someone come and live with me and do it all?

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/11/2010 13:05
doggiesayswoof · 19/11/2010 13:29

Um

The list is this:

Make bed (just ours, kids play in theirs so not much point)
Wipe round toilet and sink
Hoover (downstairs needs done every day)
Cooking, washing up
Wipe kitchen worktops
Clean table after every meal, v messy eaters chez moi
Toy tidying
Load of washing

In reality a lot of that doesn't get done every single day. Some days we just do the kitchen stuff and toy tidying.

Really should sweep or mop kitchen every day but I don't

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 19/11/2010 13:33

hoover
washing up
wipe kitchen surfaces
general tidy-up
load of washing

OnlyWantsOne · 19/11/2010 13:37

A lot of above tends to change on your family set up. For instance, if you have kids / pets / sahm / work etc

I have 1 DD who is clean and tidy but I have a 4 month old lab...!!!

Kitchen floor hoover + washed every day
Dishwasher unload in morning then load as I go during day
At least 1 load of washing on + hung out
Fold + put away day befores washing
Hoover round upstairs (once every 3 days?)
Wipe round kitchen - surfaces are always clear except when cooking etc
Wipe bath room sinks over and squirt cleaner / bleach in loo
Empty bin and recyling

SecretSlattern · 19/11/2010 13:46

These lists are interesting and it seems that only basic things need to be done daily. I have 3DC, although DD1 is at school. But DS is a 2 year old boy (nuff said) and DD2 and her reflux makes things tricky.

Thanks for your lists. I've been a busy girl today by those standards!

It does depend on family set up I think Only

I'm a sahm with 4dc's, 2 pre schoolers (Grin to the 4 month old lab, ours is 4y but still a dirt magnet)

Daily

Clean 2 loos and sinks

Make 5 beds - change, wash and dry 1 set of sheets a day in sad rota fashion

2 loads of clothes washing

put clean washing away

load and unload dishwasher twice

wipe kitchen surfaces twice

Empty composting and recycling bins, rubbish 3 ish times a week

Hoover downstairs and sweep kitchen (should mop everyday but don't)

Scrub dining table 3 times!

quick tidy of bedrooms / toys

That does seem a lot but that's over the course of 17 hours and with 6 people in the house!

LaDiDaDi · 19/11/2010 13:57

Make beds

Wipe kitchen surfaces after each meal

Load dishwasher, set away and then unload again

At least 1 load of washing, usually more

Clean ds's highchair after each meal

I might hoover and mop the floors a couple of times/week.

I have a cleaner who comes once/week and hoovers, mops does bathrooms etc.

OnlyWantsOne · 19/11/2010 14:00

goodaysbaddays I've found that this mop is perfect for clearing up the messy little bugger's footprints from door to her bed etc... I squirt some anti bac / floor cleaner on the floor, fill sink with hot water and go :)

Pluto · 19/11/2010 14:09

Cleaner comes once a fortnight but daily maintenance is usually...

d/w on and emptied at least once daily
kitchen surfaces wiped after every meal prep
sink is shined every eve
loo given a wipe over / bleach
swish and swipe in bathroom
recycling / bins - something needs doing everyday
dining room table and floor under wiped down once a day

laundry and hoovering downstairs about 3 times a week. Ironing once a week.

General tidying up of toys and DCs things - every eve before bedtime. They are supposed to help with this.

craftynclothy · 19/11/2010 14:11

Not much Grin

Make beds
Wipe the worktops/table
Dh does the washing up
We both pick up toys in the living room

I would say laundry but tbh I tend to have a laundry day and will do several loads that day then all the bedding the next day rather than spread it out over the week.

GoodDaysBadDays · 19/11/2010 14:13

ooooh thanks for that only Smile

lillybloom · 20/11/2010 17:52

make the beds
put a wash on, dry and put away
vaccum downstairs
clean work top
hob
wipe over downstair toilet
put on dishwasher

nameymcnamechange · 20/11/2010 17:57

None.

Some days I don't do a load of washing
some days I don't put the diswasher on
some days I don't do any washing up
some days I don't put any clean clothes away

I never make the beds unless someone is visiting

Just about the only thing I do every day is make sure that leftover food is thrown away properly, because I don't want the house to smell.

gorionine · 20/11/2010 17:59

cook
wash the dishes
sweep/mop the kitchen+ clean work tops.
hoover the house
a quick wizz through the bathroom
make our bed (dcs do theirs)

I wish I was disciplined enough to do a bit of ironing everyday instead of waiting for an interesting TV program to do soGrin

WRT doing the hoover/bathroom only weekly, I am in admiration! How do you manage to keep it ok for an entire week?

I think I am the laziest of all!

Never make beds

I might try and wipe counters if there is time in the morning.

I try and tidy in the evening and DH does the dishwasher.

There is nothing that I do every day!

Am Shock at the thought of changing sheets every day! Once a fortnight is bad enough!

Alouiseg · 20/11/2010 22:21

Riven you Meanie! Do you stand over 6 yo dd till she makes the bed? Wink

mathanxiety · 21/11/2010 02:41

Supervise DCs in doing a lot of the chores in the category of tidying rooms and bedmaking, plus keeping the livingroom and diningroom clean and tidy.

Wash and sort laundry -- DCs put their heap away.

Sweep floors if wood and hoover if carpet.

Clean loo, shower, bath, sinks, bathroom floors mopped every day by me.

Kitchen cleaned and surfaces cleared and cleaned by me

Dishwasher loaded throughout day, run in the night, emptied every morning by me or taller DCs.

DooinMeCleanin · 21/11/2010 02:52

Pick empty lager cans up. I don't drink lager Angry

Appranently the cat and dogs make all the mess Hmm

Orissiah · 21/11/2010 09:54

Make beds (though DH does this too)
Put DD's night clothes away (DH does this too)
Make up her daycare napy bag (at night)
Wash up
Clear up DD's toys before taking her to daycare
Put a load of washing on (every two days) and hang them up to dry
Quick wipe down of kitchen surfaces
During the day/evening: Make lunch (for me) and dinner (for me and DH; but DH often makes dinner too)

Ready to sit down to work (from home) by 9am - thereafter no housework apart from washing up as I use things.
