I would really like one of those duvets you can buy that are different tog ratings on each side, for when you are a couple where one of you gets hot in bed and the other is always freezing. But I wonder how good this is in practice - does the heavier tog side weigh more? does it slide that way? And is it thicker on one side making the bed look odd when it made? (not that our bed gets properly made each day! Grin )
I'd love to know if you've got one and whether you like it?

LMAO at cargirl! That's hilarious!

Mowgli1970 · 12/10/2010 16:06

Blimey I wondered why this thread had so many posts! Thought it had got spicy for a moment!

PotteringAlong · 12/10/2010 17:10

We have 1 duvet but I just stick a spare single duvet inside the covers for me - I've put sone of that self adhesive Velcro in the corners. Cheaper and effective!

SuperLapin · 12/10/2010 17:16

What do you do when you're watching TV then Cargirl? Grin

FluffyDonkey · 12/10/2010 17:21

PMSL Cargirl

We have 2 double duvets. It's brilliant cos DH has a habit of rolling himself up tightly in the duvet, leaving me uncovered and freezing - we even ask for an extra sheet when on holiday!

We also have no problem when cuddling - in fact, I second (or 452nd) what Cargirl said. Cuddle under one duvet, then separate to sleep.

Grin posted from work (in my lunch break)for the first and last time!

Shows you how great our IT system is Grin

This thread has made me chuckle. Poor Cargirl.
I'm quite surprised how many of you there seems to be using two single duvets. I'm not sure I would like it because I get heat radiating towards me from hot-coal hubby, which warms me up, and I probably wouldn't get it with two singles? He just needs less tog than me. Interesting what Potteringalong said about having an extra duvet inside the cover - isn't that too heavy though? I find my winter weight duvet, plus a throw is pretty heavy. I think I must be very fussy!! Grin

You were intent on making your point Cargirl! PMSL

will investigate these duvets now.......

Lollylola · 12/10/2010 23:52

Two double sized duvets here on a king sized bed. 15 tog goose down for me and a 4.5 tog for DH. It's the only way, if you want to be sociable you can overlap them together but when the time comes to go to sleep we both retreat to the luxury of our separate duvets.

I know that in Germany it's common to have two single duvets on a double bed, but that seems a little mean to me..

We did try having two king sized duvets on the bed, but we did feel swamped, so have come to the conclusion that two doubles is best. Whenever we go somewhere where there is only one duvet on the bed, my heart sinks as I know that I will get left out in the cold as DH (more than a foot taller than I am) has a tendency to roll himself up at night.

Rockbird · 13/10/2010 12:21

We have a superking sized bed and two doubles works beautifully. Single duvets are mean and designed for children!

Schroeder · 13/10/2010 13:36

3 duvets here; 1 each and a kingsize over the top. When it gets really cold we have our own fleece blankets underneath tooBlush.

It's really cold in our bedroomGrin

bran · 13/10/2010 15:37

Is this duvet top trumps? Grin I think Schroeder wins if so. Doesn't 3 duvets on one bed make for an awful lot of laundry?

linspins · 13/10/2010 16:39

Laughing at the top trumps thing!! Grin Grin
Do we count water bottles, heated blankets etc?

Cargirl that was hilaariious. I was pondering what could have kicked off on a duvet thread!?

I always have a kingsized duvet and a bedspread. I like to wrap myself up in the bedspread aand rest my leg on a bunched up bit of the duvet, leaving almost the entire rest of it for DP.

Although when we first got together he was between houses so we ended up sleeping in a single bed with a single duvet at his brothers house on a few occasions. It felt like being in uni halls which was fun but the worst nights sleep ever.

WelcometotheJungle · 14/10/2010 04:36

cargirl - are you sure about that? Grin

LoveBeingAMardyBum · 14/10/2010 09:27

Another who wondered how it had got ot that many posts Grin

We have a supersized duvet on our double bed, however dh stills moans about me. We did when staying with my parent shave two single beds pushed together each with their own double duvet and have to admit it was fab.

mousymouse · 14/10/2010 09:38

"two single beds pushed together each with their own double duvet"

this is what in germany and scandinavian countries is called a double bed Smile

diddl · 14/10/2010 15:09

Yes, that´s what we have-two single mattresses in one frame.

We both tend to sleep at the outside edge-think that´s a throwback from when the kids used to get in!

Good thing now though as when I get hot at night I can just throw my covers off into the middle!

Shaggy68 · 22/05/2013 14:46

Hi, Realise this is an old thread, but I've just purchased one of these CosyCool duvets and thought you might like to know they have 20% off at the mo.
