Stubborn burnt rice in pan

So I spectacularly burnt the rice last night - thought I was going into labour (I wasn't Angry), and was dealing with tired toddler, and have cold so couldn't smell it burning until the smoke alarm went off! So it was a pretty horrific mess to be honest!

Anyway, I've managed to get a thick layer of burntness off, but still have persistent black rice-grain shaped marks all over the bottom of the pan. To get it to this state, I have tried:

  1. Boiling up water with washing up liquid in it then leaving to soak
  2. Mix of vinegar and bicarb then heated that
  3. Leaving overnight with boiling water and washing up liquid

So now just left with the stubborn stains right on the bottom. What would you recommend I try next? I'm 10 days overdue and need to take my mind off that, so I'm willing to spend hours getting this bloody pan to shine like new if necessary!

if that doesnt work its bin the pan I*m afraid.

A big scoop of clothes washing powder in a couple of inches of water, leave for a few hours or overnight then it should scrub free tomorrow.

Mind you if you are 10 days overdue you may not be there to see the result tomorrow!!

Need biological washing powder - or napisan or biotex. Tis the enzymes apparently
PS good luck with impending arrival Grin

I'm assuming it's just a metal pan rather than non stick or whatever. I use a razor blade to get the worst off then a metal pan scrubber eg a brillo pad or one of those metal spirally balled up things.

Will try washing powder.

TBH I'm hoping I won't be here tomorrow to deal with it. Then DH will have to :o

If it's not non-stick, I scrape as much as I can off with the end of an old knife, then Brillo pad.

A layer of salt, then heat it gently.
