Do your kids wear clean clothes every day?

I tend to wash my daughters every day regardless of whether there dirty or not but with another baby on the way and no tumble dryer I'm not sure I can keep that up. I'm interested to find out how many other people do this.

My 4 dcs do not dirty clothes at the same rate.

DD1 is growing up and also her trousers can keep a few days, the tops smell of "adult" after one day, I would not dream of letting her wear the same top two days in a row.

Ds2 is playing outside constantly and needs at least a change a day

Ds3 plays outside but much quieter games and can wear the same cloth 3 days no problem.

Dd4 is a nightmare, she goes and change herself several times a day, destroying the beautiful piles of clothes in her drawer.

for school uniforms, they tend to be able to keep the same trousers a couple of days in a row but get clean top every morning.

""*by 'straight in the wash' I mean on the floor, in their beds, tucked behind cushions on the sofa rather than 'in the washing bin'""

Pretty much the same here with one little difference, they make the effort to go all the way to the "batroom cupbard" where the laundry basket is, they open it but then they find it to hard to actually put the clothes in the basket and just drop them on the floor, actually touching the basket but NEVER actually IN it!!! That drives me mad!

i have 2 girls, they have clean uniforms every day, come home from school clean clothes and then clean pjs every day.

i have a sn daughter and she wears a pull up nappy at nite so i wudnt put the same pjs on anyway.

i bath them once or sometimes twice a day, i dont think there is a right or wrong way, people with big families would have a lot more washing than say me with two so its individual choice.

Everyday my son goes to school in clean clothes. There is no uniform at the school. he wears clean vest, t shirt, top, cardigan, jeans/trousers, and socks.

I wish there was a uniform sometimes!!!

i wash my ds2 clothes every day my older 2 dont live at home now so knowing them they dont !!

Answer for me is - it depends. Depends on how old kids are (when mine were babies they needed a couple of changes a day, now they're 5 and 3 so not so much now), how messy they are (DD a horribly messy eater and has no issue with dirt, DS much neater and hates being dirty), what time of year it is (mine need clean clothes more often in summer simply 'cause outdoors more than in winter).

Except for pants and socks (which are fresh every day), I try to only wash when visibly dirty, though mine (especially DD) have a nasty habit of trying on lots of stuff deciding what to wear, strewing it all over bedroom floor and then, when told to "tidy it up" just throwing it all in wash basket. Trying to break that habit...

I wish...

My 4 yo daughter goes through 12 clean outfits before lunch time. Drives me mad.

Reesie · 14/09/2010 22:25

I have 2 dd's - nearly 4 and nearly 1 1/2. I would love to let them not change every day. However, prev nights pj's are destroyed at breakfast time so new ones for the night. Clean clothes are usually filthy by mid morning.

We have a large garden and they do spend lots of time playing outside with our neighbouring children.

I do not however do any ironing...Wink

Infact a quick shake from the line/tumble dryer and straight into the wardrobe does the trick.

Fozsjobear · 14/09/2010 22:34

The baby gets clean clothes every morning and a clean sleepsuit every night. My eldest is 11 and I'm lucky if I can get him to change his clothes once a week...not my choice but it does save on washing!

Hulababy · 14/09/2010 22:36

No and hasn't since she was very small and her clothes actually needed changing daily.

It isn;t great for the environment nor the clothes themselves to wash them so often unecessarily.

Things get washed when they are dirty or smelly really, or after a few day wear regardless as wold be grubby if not dirty.

Underwear is the only thing that gets daily wear.

Quattrocento · 14/09/2010 22:51

Yes. So do I. Fortunately I don't do the laundry though

robbie09 · 17/09/2010 10:25

I have a 14mo and a 5mo they have clean clothes & pjs & blankets everyday, wash jackets when dirty. My oartner wheres trousers a few time as do i if there not white! Clean underwear for us both & clean socks for us all. Bedding gets changed on cot, moses basket & bed every week & more if needs to. I dont have a tumble dryer, it can be done
