Grown up pink?

I want to paint the bedroom in my new house a soft grown up pink. It’s the first house I’ve ever owned by myself (post divorce) and the joy I’m getting from decorating it exactly as I want it is immense. I’ve always wanted a pink bedroom. But … it’s a very bright room, faces south, and all the tester pinks I’ve tried end up looking like sugared almonds once on. I’ve tried Tailor Tack F and B, and Dulux Heritage Powder Colour, both of which came up too bright. Has anyone used Summer Linen (Dulux)?

Try dulux heritage potters pink. It has grey and brown tones which will make it look calmer in a bright light.

I used Farrow and Ball Peignoir in my quite dark living room because I wanted a hint of pink.

Unfortunately, because of the low light levels, it only looks pink when the sun shines directly in and it just looks off-white the rest of the time. It's such a faff to repaint that I'm living with it for now. But avoid it if you want actual pink and don't have lots of natural light.

We painted our south facing bedroom in Dulux soft stone. It looked like an earthy neutral when tested, but actually turned out a really muted slightly pinkish tone. It's lovely and restful.

Haversham pink

Its in my bathroom and I love it. The colouring on the photo may be slightly off.

I have F&B Setting Plaster in my study, which is a beautiful peachy pink, it’s soft a warm, but still feels grown up.

SweetDreamsAreMadeOfFizz · 26/02/2026 09:31

I'm planning Sulking Room Pink for my office. Partly because of the name if I'm honest! 😂But it's a lovely grown up colour.

GoldDuster · 26/02/2026 09:33

F and B Setting Plaster maybe?

NewYearNewMee · 26/02/2026 09:34

Another vote for setting plaster / sulking room pink! My office is also sulking room pink, I had a dulux pink before but on work calls it was too pink in the light, sulking room pink is perfect.

aardvarkappeal · 26/02/2026 09:36

We have F&B setting plaster, colour matched in Johnstone’s from decorating centre online and it’s absolutely gorgeous, gets lots of compliments from people we show around too (new house so everyone wants a house tour).

DM’s bedroom is Sulking Room pink. It’s a sunny room, and it looks lovely.

SoftOctoberNight · 26/02/2026 09:49

So many lovely ideas! Thank you. They are all lovely pinks.

Bouder means sulking in French, so a boudoir is a sulking room.

A south facing room will be hard with pink because there will be a tendancy for them to go peachy. I've got F&B Middleton Pink in our east facing sitting room. It's their lightest pink and in direct morning sunlight it's quite a cool pink but in the evening with all the warm white lights on even it has a slight peachiness to it. I have no other pink in the room and I think that's the secret to not making it feel like a nursery, it becomes a flattering backdrop to other colours rather than being 'a pink room'.

Madaboutthehouse on substack had a pink south facing bedroom in her last house and she painted it Threadneedle by Mylands so that's probably another good pink to look at. I've been considering pinks for our kitchen and am tempted by Julie's Dreams by Little Green. I love their paint much more than F&B these days so take a look at their light pink options as well.

Just to add to this I also painted a north facing dark room in peignoir. It looks lilac at some points and felt very cold.

F&B calamine is a nice grown up pink.

F&B calamine is a nice grown up pink.

I looked at that one but worried it might be a bit too pink. I made a mistake first time round and painted the room a shade I can't remember the name of, but it was like walking into a flamingo's lower intestine. I only stood that for a couple of months (faff notwithstanding). I want subtle, but not TOO subtle...

I'm wondering about F&Bs Sulking Room Pink.

Sorry, OP, we've hijacked your thread!

I don’t know if this might be a bit dark for what you’re looking for but I’ve just used this one for my daughter’s bedroom and it’s absolutely beautiful!

We’ve used Crown Softly Does It in our living room and Johnstons Rosebud in our daughters bedroom.

We painted our bathroom in F&B Setting Plaster at our last house. It was a fairly large (former bedroom so 12'8 x 9'4) space with small, east facing cottage window and whilst it's undeniably a lovely colour, it looked quite washed out in that room.

We were going to use it in the hall at our new cottage (with large north facing mezzanine window), but are going with Edward Bulmer Jonquil instead. This is a similar but a slightly more yellow-based pink.

We only discovered Edward Bulmer paint recently, but have used it successfully in several rooms here and it's far superior to both F&B and Little Greene, imo.

In our south facing snug we've painted walls and woodwork in Edward Bulmer Nicaragua which is a saturated, deep pink that looks lovely on both sunny and the dullest of days.

FruAashild · 26/02/2026 15:24

Yeah, not used Edward Bulmer but heard good things. I have used a Graphenstone pink: Briar Rose, in my garden and have been impressed with the quality and coverage.

Defiantly41 · 26/02/2026 16:32

My downstairs loo in Graham & Brown Sugar Rush (with G&B Nuit Blush wallpaper). I can’t tell you how much it grieves me that the handwash is a totally clashing pink!

have also used Paint & Paper Library Rhubarb in a different house - a much stronger deep raspberry pink https://www.paintandpaperlibrary.com/rhubarb

Our bedroom is sulking room pink and I absolutely love it, the only thing I will say is I’m amazed how different it looks in different lighting throughout the day. In the evenings I’d describe it as more of a clay like mauve. I did panic slightly when I was decorating but as I say love it now

Look at coat. https://coatpaints.com/products/south-facing-colours-sample-pack?srsltid=AfmBOopXk18ne1fzrJDarTmt4ocsS0SMzHcSfoldwI6rp9Oph22KxZYe

You can buy vinyl sheet testers for different facing rooms. They do 3 types of pink that suits a bright room. The sheets are fab, you stick them to different parts of the room to see what you prefer on different walls & in different lights. I think they are only about £10 for the whole set or you can get a few for cheaper I think
