Where can I purchase an enormous (40cm plus deep) indoor plant pot?

. Ideally ceramic but I’d take a nice looking plastic one at this point. I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find one deeper than 30 cm (without paying £200!)

It sounds like you need a big heavy pot to stop this plant from falling over, so you’ll probably need to look at outdoors ones. These usually have a drainage hole and no saucer so you’d either need to find something like a big plate or round tray for it to sit on or else either line it or put as large a plastic saucer as will fit inside it.

IKEA had some large metal ones when I went last week.

Watching with interest - the choice is tiny. This is one of the few I've found - comes in zinc and rust. Can bring myself to spend that much www.crocus.co.uk/product/_/aluminium-urb-pot-aged-zinc/classid.2000033937/

That looks an awful lot like the mixing bowl on my John Lewis own-brand Kitchen Aid-a-like

I agree with this btw. You can get some absolutely lovely outdoor pots.

B&q website lets you filter by depth. I got an enormous plastic one there a couple of years ago. It’s “textured” and matt and it’s not blindingly obvious it’s plastic. It’s not exactly what I want but it was about £20 whereas what I want doesn’t exist and it it did exist would be £300.

What's your budget and what colour do you want? I agree with looking at outdoor ones for that size.

That's lovely.

Look on Facebook swap and sell sites, marketplace etc - it's the kind of thing that's expensive to buy, but which people give away/sell cheaply when they no longer need

Jysk is worth a try

I’m obsessed with these pots. They are a lot of money but they are so worth it. Very durable, they bring me joy.

Some of those are lovely!

Very difficult to find large pots without drainage holes. It’s quite frustrating. Avoid metal - I’ve discovered to my cost that they’re not always properly waterproof.

HelloCharming · 03/12/2025 12:32

I use big clay ones - they are relatively cheap as they don't have to be frostproof and put a saucer under them. TKMaxx also sometimes has very good pots - also put a saucer under them. I have a fig tree that is about 3 foot wide and 5 foot high and that's in a TK Maxx pot with a saucer underneath.

Hortology has lovely pots but spendy for big ones.

Metal containers IME need lining and/or a saucer or plate inside them, to avoid corrosion as well as leaks.

I use elho nursery pots with the saucer attached they go up to 55cm then put them in baskets from bm or homesense, very large monsteras and still sturdy

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 03/12/2025 13:01

I wish these huge planters, or any planter for that matter came with the corresponding plastic planter for inside.
i get fed up of thinking of cracked the planter problem but not to find out that they don’t easily accommodate a planter to go inside.

may also still be Black Friday savings.

Can you get to a b and q? Their website is awful and I can never find anything on there.

I've got a large blue pot (an outdoor one but I've got it inside) with plate and I think it was either £40 or £60, plate was separate. I've just tried to look and I can't actually see it on the website which is a worry as I want a matching one after Xmas is over. It was in the outdoor plant section about 2 months ago. If you need a plastic nursery pot I found one on Amazon but it took a bit of searching.

tipsyraven · 03/12/2025 17:33

I’m a fan of Elho pots too. They don’t look cheap and have the advantage of being lightweight so easy to move around.

AreYouBrandNew · 03/12/2025 17:40

Another vote for Elho with wheels for large indoor plants - mine are on a tiled floor and easy to move around

lilacmamacat · 03/12/2025 17:48

Use www.externalworksindex.co.uk to search for indoor planters. The size you're looking for is more aimed at the commercial market (and priced accordingly, and you'll have to pay VAT) but you might find something within your budget. There's loads out there

We bought a very large ceramic pot some years ago from an auction house. Very often these places have an outside corner with a array of garden stuff from hose clearances.
