This follows on from a previous thread I had but can’t be bothered to change user name back. Immmaking my small single into a spare single which my DC will use when back from
uni. It’s tiny so thinking just lovely rug, lovely bedding and maybe dark colours to make it feel nice and cosy and a fabulous lamp and textiles. Show me yours if you don’t mind. Or any lovely pins you know of if working on your own little teeny room? Thank you 🙏

Your post has inspired me, OP! Ignore the naysayers, my son at Uni wanted the same room as this as neither he nor his brother wanted to share when we moved to our (gasps of horror!) council house, with one large double room, one 8 x 6 room and the box room which is about 6 feet long on the bulkhead side and 7 feet wide! I have it when he's away as it's super cosy and feels safe and enclosed. Thinking of making a raised platform out of something like kallax to the same height of the bulkhead and create a platform for a mattress.Has anyone else done this rather than pay a joiner?

@BatshitCrazyWoman I agree with you that a roman blind or shutters are best , budget allowing.
I have shutters in the box room and they are really good.

I've as also done a built in bed using IKEA Kallax as mentioned by a pp. Will try to find a photo

We just built a frame on the wall at the same height as the top of the Kallax and then put the slats across both. It was only one unit high, but sure the same method would work for a higher one.

I had a box room too and loved it. The bulkhead was a really cosy cushioned reading nook with some shelves next to it and just a single bed. Inset blinds are best as you don't lose depth.

I think the trickiest bit is do you lean into the cosy and go for a rich colour or go for white allover? I prefer the former.

Some lovely rooms on here! (and one very rude poster).

There is an old thread on here where the lady had done a lot of panelling and staining over IKEA furniture I think, to build a bed into a small room. Cupboards built to make use of every cm, loads of perfectly chosen colour, paint & wallpaper really creatively combined. It was a work of art, detail everywhere you looked. Bigger than yours but not unhelpfully so. I will have a quick look but if I don't find it, it might be worth you looking through old threads. I think it's here but might be in Property & DIY

I used this navy striped cotton set from Leruum recently and really like it. https://leruum.com/products/navy-chevron-cotton-duvet-cover-bedding-set-oslo
The cotton feels nice and sturdy, and it washes and dries well without losing shape. The colour’s deep and calming, perfect for a small cosy room.
