When watching the soaps ... l always wonder why loads of the houses haven't been decorated for years.. ( yes l know it's soaps and not real life) but even so .. you would think they would change things around..
Some of the houses are very modern and some haven't changed for 20 plus years.
On average l change mine every three years.. especially living room .. my bedroom and dining room.
New colours... add new pictures .. curtains/ cushions/ throws/ bedding etc.
Rugs/ plants etc.

I am into interior design and take time to choose and decorate. Then I add bits and pieces over time so it evolves and things might get moved or replaced but I don’t redecorate often . My living room was last done in 2000 when we all had time! Last year DD21 had her bedroom done and we repainted our bathroom but that’s an afternoon job! Kitchen last painted in 2018 but it’s neutral. Hall, stairs and landing is in need- been over 10 years!

We have lived in our house for ten years. Not done anything and no plans to, it’s just as the previous owners left it. I just seems like an expensive hassle.

I’ve lived here exactly a year while house anponted magnolia when I moved in

have decorated the main bedroom twice. Including new bed bedsides and wardrobes the second time, but they’ll now last for years.
the kids room again has been decorated twice with new beds the second time.
next job is to redo the hallway stairs and landing
the living room is decorated but that’s due a repaint (same colour just a refresh) that’s after the hsl. Then it’s onto painting the kitchen.
I do however buy 95% of furniture second hand then sell what I’m replacing
personally can’t imagine leaving paint and wallpaper 20 years

When we move house - the room belongs to me when I paint it. And then as and when it needs it after that, which depends on the room and would mean a repaint maybe after 10 years. I do not do refresh with soft furnishings. I love interior design - but it is too time-consuming to redecorate frequently.

We've never had a massive re-decoration, just minor adjustments and replacements here and there, but I love moving furniture around and do so every 4-5 years or so. I have this furniture placement tool that helps me work on the next arrangement, I just get bored of how things are placed. DH has nothing against it, so we're just moving things around and replace what needs to be replaced, and that's it.

We're planning to change the look of the garden, though, I've already got a landscaping software and drew a plan and DH got some materials and started the basic preparations (removing the grass mostly). He's fully on board which is great.

Minor adjustments here also. Victorian mid-terrace and we have Victorian furniture DH inherited. In the past 20 years we have changed the paint colour twice and the carpets once. I don't have alot of wriggle room as he does not like change so i make heavy use of changing throws and cushions.

I know a woman who has a very well-developed sense of the aesthetic and she changes paint and furntiure twice a year. She has a storage pod and if she likes things then they just get stored until she wants them out again. I have been in her house three times and everything was in silver grey and blush pink the first time; then in winter she changed things to a deep rich blue and grey and currently everything is green and blush pink. I don't have the energy, the willpower or the money for that.

When it needs it(moving house, moving rooms, refreshing). I remember my Nan changing decor every 5 mins. Perfectly good items sent to the tip (admittedly you could send them to a charity shop) but I just don't see the point if it's not needed. It feels frivolous.
