Having a green kitchen( reed)with white quartz with grey vein and oak floor, can’t find a suitable wall colour. Any recommendations?

I have just had my kitchen done, units are cardamon green (I call it sage) and quartz worktops are the same as yours I have lots of oak beams as the house is over 500 years old. I got some Farrow and Ball paint charts and chose a colour similar to the graining in the quartz and then took a lighter shade of the same colour for the window frames. I think one of the colours is called carnforth and is a grey toned white.
it looks fabulous so much so that the company have headed up their web page with it.
worth noting that F and B paint is not that good, I contacted a company that will colour match F and B paints using Crown paint and the decorator said that it was much better quality

A Mediterranean apricot colour. Looks fabulous, even if I say so myself

Thankyou that’s really helpful. So matching grey grain in quartz could be key, do the walls not seem a bit cold? Was wondering about focusing on the grey.

I haven't decided as house isn't ready til April (new build) so plenty of time. I'm looking at a beige neutral like this www.benjaminmoorepaint.co.uk/colour-gallery/colour/ShakerBeige/HC-45/ as we have a long east facing lichen, diner, living area. I'm thinking soothing spa tones and lots of plants

Helterskelteroo · 12/02/2025 22:02

We have reed green and have lightish wooden flooring with wooden worktops. We have white on the walls. It's a white but not bright white. It's from farrow and ball colour matched in b&w. Sorry can't remember the name but it gives a warmer tone than the brilliant white. We have added colour with accessories and tea towels, rug, shelving stuff.

Ma11ard · 12/02/2025 22:03

Actually just looked at the Carnforth, is quite warm.

its not cold at all. I also painted the ceiling in the same colour as the wall I believe this is called colour drenching. Is there anyway to send private messages here? I could give you the website name to look at it

Does the grey make it seem cold or does the green and oak lift it and give enough warmth?

It will depend on whether your room is north facing or south facing, etc.

If it’s a north-facing room you can bring in some much-needed warmth with colours like White Tie, New White or Dimity from Farrow and Ball.

South facing rooms work well with paints with grey tones so Strong White or Ammonite by Farrow and Ball.

If it’s east or west facing you’ll again, want to look at the tones in the paints.

We have sage green units, oak worktop and pale pink walls.

Another vote for F&B cornforth white (and yes use someone who can mix it up for you). We have F&B green smoke units, plain grey slate floor and a mix of marble and stainless steel surfaces. This time we went for School House White for all ceilings, walls, skirting etc. Very pleased with it. Have Cornforth in our boot room and that would also be great.

Ma11ard · 13/02/2025 08:47

Yes I like that Cornforth and room is north facing. Does anybody know where you can get reasonably priced F&B testers. Have just spent a fortune on Dulux heritage testers at our Dulux decorating centre. 😫

Sounds gorgeous

Have you looked on Pinterest? Lots of ideas. Just search green kitchens 🙂

Yep, no wall colour names or suggestions though.

We have a similar combination of kitchen colours and went for a grey toned white - our kitchen is south facing and gets a lot of sun. It was a Dulux colour. We also have some wallpaper on one wall near the table which is grey and green.

We're just about to have a bathroom and the sink unit is same colour as green smoke apparently.

Would this work as a bathroom do you thinj?

That F&B green looks very similar to what we’re having for cupboards( love it). F&B recommend shaded white too. Think I’m just about to spend a fortune on F&B testers. Will get whichever one we use in Dualux diamond at the centre but omg the price of testers!

Was going to say look at Neptune paints.

Salt and dove are great neutrals.

The quality of the paint is way better than farrow and ball.

Also look at lick online, they have patches that are stick on testers and I think £1 each.. and also have great neutrals.

I have a sage green kitchen with white walls and black slate floor tiles. Accent colour is black. The effect is surprisingly warm but I think that's because our worktops are solid oak and the room gets a lot of sun.

DumpedByText · 13/02/2025 09:02

B&Q colour match any paint and they do tester pots.

I've had my whole house painted with Valspar premium, all colour matched to other brands. I chose the colours, B&Q matched it.

One tip though, make sure you get enough as it may not match if you have to go back at a later date!
