Corner sofa - will it help with discomfort?

Odd question I know
i have a long term niggly back and find it really hard to get comfortable in general.
but I’m always comfy in bed, so spend a lot of leisure time there - working, watching stuff, reading.
I’d like to be downstairs more- I have three normal sofas, can’t get comfy as I like to have my feet up and stretched out, but then I’m side on and twisting to talk to other person so it’s uncomfortable on the sofa.
anyone have similar? Would a corner sofa help? I’m looking at the Viv in dfs…

You need a footstool that is the same height as the sofa seat so that you are completely sitting up with your legs out flat in front of you

We have the same set up as PP with the matching footstool. I like it because it's quite versatile, it can be against the front of the sofa to make an L shape and allow someone to sit with their legs up, or can be placed separately for another seat, plus it has the storage within where you can keep throws or spare cushions. We have a three seater and a two seater sofas, have used the footstool with either sofa and it works well.

A corner sofa is rather less flexible I would think. I did consider them but went the footstool route and haven't regretted it.

We have a corner sofa from Next and it's wonderfully comfortable. I work from home sitting on it for most of the day and don't ache at all. It's from their Parker collection, and I sit with my legs either curled under me or straight out in front

Hi I have your exact back problem. In my last house I had a Parker Knoll reclining sofa which sorted it but the neck problem remained. It was too big for my current house and I’ve solved it with this IKEA armchair and footstool. For me the angle of the back, the deep seat and the height are the key things (I’m 5ft 9) Also as someone said the footstool needs to be at seat height and I push it in longways to the seat so it’s like being in bed! You can also angle it to other sofas so you eliminate the neck pain.

If you go for a corner sofa, get one where the internal corner is a right angle and not a curve. With a curve you can’t lean back against the corner as comfortably. I love our recliner sofa for watching TV but it’s not ideal for socialising because of the angle you’re at, looking either forward or up. Maybe get rid of one sofa and replace with a recliner chair that you could put at an angle towards the sofa where the other person is, to make it more social? With a recliner, make sure to get one where the headrest can be controlled separately so you can get your head and top of spine in a comfy position.

We bought two cheap corner sofas from furniture village to make a U shape and yes they are the most comfortably ever as two people can stretch out!

I think a chaise sofa would definitely help as you can lie out.

A footstool is probably a more flexible option but many footstools are slightly slower than the sofa itself which I would keep an eye out for. You want one that is exactly level.

@YourSpleenIsDamp thats really lovely!

okay, I’ve ordered a footstool! Hopefully same colour as my sofa (navy velvet).
it’s two cm lower than my sofa so hopefully I can get some feet pads or something to boost the height?

Two cm isn't that much. Placing a blanket on it would easily raise it 2cm if needed. I hope it works out for you OP!

Thank you!

Studio Velvet 3 Seater Motion Sofa | DFS

We've had this for nearly 2 years and it still looks like new. (3 children 3 cats.) It's so comfy.
