How much would you pay for this floral decoration?

I've recently started making these home floral decorations. How much would you pay for one of these if anything. I understand they may not be everyones taste. The plant pot is made from concrete and is quite heavy. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I’d only buy it as a non painted planter for outside, either empty or planted with real flowers.

EternallyDelighted · 14/09/2024 21:25

I'd prefer a completely plain pot (indoor one, outdoor are too chunky) and real flowers in a single colour (from a choice of colours). The black and white is too gothic for my taste. I do have a couple of fake plants but greenery only, I'm not keen on fake flowers.

I prefer the terracotta colour. That paint highlights the seams of the pot and makes it look even cheaper IMO. Good quality pots don't have those seams, because of the way they are cast, or they get buffed off. Is it pot terracotta?

tsmainsqueeze · 14/09/2024 21:28

I like the unpainted pot a lot , not so much painted and sorry to say it but the flowers are awful and cheap looking ,not something i would buy.

Olika · 14/09/2024 21:30

The painted pot is horrible colour and makes it look cheap. The flowers don't go together with it at all. I would much rather have it as its original colour and then something bigger flower arrangement in it. Currently the pot and flowers are wrong size to each other. Probably would pay like £40 if it appealed my eye.

Agreed, re the seams, other pots have been buffed to remove seam lines. No pot is just concrete

I really like the pot after you have painted it and I would definitely buy it. Usually, pots that look like that are cheap plastic things, so to get one that's solid concrete would be great, I really like what you've done to it. However, there's just something about the foam flowers I don't like. The black and white don't go with the colour and style of the pot. I'm someone who actually likes foam roses. I have some pink ones in a gray, hat box style pot. Again, I love the pot, I think it would look great either side of a front door or in a tiled hallway/indoor room. What else were you thinking of putting in the pot?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 14/09/2024 22:42

It's not good. I wouldn't ever buy it.

Neverheather · 14/09/2024 22:43

Thinking about it, I'd definitely put something that's all one colour in the pot. What about some (very realistic looking) fake hydrangeas, either all pink or all purple/blue? Or some kind of spiky plant?

Thank you for your feedback. It's really helpful. I was also thinking that they may be nice in a conservatory or by the front door in a tiled hallway. I'll look into something that's not foam and maybe all one colour instead.

Pump up the spooky vibe and sell them as Halloween centrepieces?

I do like this idea, I may try this and report back to mumsnet Smile

You need to rethink this. As it stands it is totally unattractive.

Hoppinggreen · 14/09/2024 23:03

Nothing, I wouldn't even want it if it was free to be honest.
But we all have different tastes

Seedseason · 14/09/2024 23:06

I would prefer red rather than black roses and also add some foliage

Tygertiger · 14/09/2024 23:12

I think the purpose of it is unclear.

If for the garden (because it’s a concrete pot) - I’d want real plants in it or it to look a lot more real rather than obviously fake plants.

If it’s for inside, I wouldn’t want a concrete pot and I can buy really realistic fake flowers in IKEA cheaply.

As it is now, the only use I can really see for it is as a grave ornament. Which is fine, but might not be the market you’re thinking of.

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 14/09/2024 23:16

It's grim looking sorry @Scoobydoobydoobydoo0987 But with a terracotta pot and warmer colours, maybe £12 to £15.

Els1e · 14/09/2024 23:25

£5.00. Sorry but think it is ugly

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/09/2024 23:29

Sorry, OP, I've done some floristry & church/exhibition/competitive flower arranging, & it doesn't appeal to me at all. I don't like the base or the roses, & I don't think they go together. I do apologise - I'm not trying to be rude, just to answer your initial question.

I've used fresh, silk & dried flowers at various times, so it's not the artificiality that puts me off. I just can't imagine where anyone would put it. It does look a bit funereal - but I've done floral tributes & church arrangements for funeral services & they were a lot cheerier than your picture!

Without the seams it's a nice pot for the garden. In the house it would feel 1980s to me.

nicknot · 14/09/2024 23:30

For me the e problem is flowers don't ordinarily just 'fill' the top of a plant pot like a lid. There was no gap like a natural flower would have. I don't think the flowers or the pot are the problem I think it's the combination.

Livelovebehappy · 15/09/2024 00:07

The concept is good, but this specific example isn’t a good one. It looks a bit tacky - I’m not a huge fan of fake flowers, especially when they look fake due to colour.

Stichintime · 15/09/2024 00:12

What is it supposed to be?

KnickerlessParsons · 15/09/2024 00:26

Sorry OP but it's awful.
The flowers have no stems, and why would anyone want black flowers.
Instead of bringing more plastic tat into the world, could you do something with real flowers?

TheOliveGoose · 15/09/2024 00:35

Straight away I thought of flowers for graves. It reminds me a lot of the artificial arrangements for gravestones. I see what you are going for, that classy with a K look as my dd calls it, I'm not sure how to explain it, I suppose maybe the old Mrs Hinch look? I'd say try asking on local Facebook groups what they think they might be your intended audience more than mumsnet.
