I still like grey. And I find sage green dull.

Spill your bad taste here - what do you like that according to this board you really shouldn't?

I have fairy lights everywhere, and massive twiggy shit.

I don't like spotlight lights

ladygindiva · 05/04/2024 22:31

Also a lover of twiggy shit here
Love mirrors
Crushed velvet anything
Zillions of cushions
Oversized canvas portraits of my babies in black and white
I have a fake wood burner fireplace ( electric) which I know everyone I know is appalled at
Mahoosive TV is essential

I LOVE a fake plant.

Yes!! Me too

ladygindiva · 05/04/2024 22:33

Big lover of feature walls here too

Oh I loooooved those! As a kid i dreamed of having a flat with a wall of those which somehow lit up different colours 😄

I used to rent a flat with a window between the entrance hall and lounge with these bricks! I loved it!

ladygindiva · 05/04/2024 22:36

All my curtains are eyelets, had no idea that was even considered bad taste!

Diversion · 05/04/2024 22:37

My house is dark and I love it. I am not a fan of bright and airy houses at all.

LaWench · 05/04/2024 22:37

I don't mind grey as a colour choice, it's a decent neutral but I prefer a warmer colour like beige. I'm not keen on grey everything, it's a bit soulless.
I have fake and a few real plants all over the house, I love plants but not so great at keeping them alive. I suppose fake ones are classed as an abomination.

mdinbc · 05/04/2024 23:01

I am a fan of feature walls also. I'm also way out of fashion with my buttery/cream walls and warm natural wood. My feature wall is a brick/clay colour.

Also coloured Christmas lights, no theme colour bobbles!

LifeofBrienne · 05/04/2024 23:18

All walls off-white/cream. I’ve never considered anything else - makes rooms light and peaceful . And everything in them looks better, like food looks better on white plates. I think most of MN would be horrified by this as ‘boring’ but I just don’t like coloured walls that much and prefer the focus to be on interesting stuff in the room, furnishings, windows etc.

mathanxiety · 06/04/2024 00:29

I'm not averse to grey in moderation. I like grey velvet a lot.

I dislike feature walls, ditsy wallpaper, and matchy curtains, cushions, and rugs.

I like greenish beige walls and white subway tiles.

I like - and have - white voile curtains. I'm sort of pleased someone here has said it's a style that is coming back.

I don't have a themed or monochrome Christmas tree. I buy a fresh one every year.

I have a medium-to-large TV and I have it in a spot in the sitting room where everyone can see it. It's not the only TV in my home.

I'm not a mininalist.

Sameratdifferenthat · 06/04/2024 00:40

I am never going to update my kitchen even tho it's fairly 1980s with a bit of 2004 paint. It is not gorgeous but I simply cannot be arsed.

GeorgeOrwellsTurningGrave · 06/04/2024 01:11

Another vote here for twiggy shit and year-round fairy lights.

I would love some bi-fold doors into my garden. I do not care one jot that they are no longer fashionable.

JJathome · 06/04/2024 08:42

I don’t get the hate for bifolds either, I think it’s envy sometimes. My friend put them in last year, no extension, she just changed the back wall to bifolds, and removed the old sliding doors. What a difference, the room was so much more lighter, and in the summer it was fabulous.

the only bit I disagree with her is she didn’t put any form of blind or curtain up, and I think it looks cold on a winters evening. Just a big black wall of nothing ness. Blinds or curtains would make it much warmer and softer looking.

i think a lot of folks do that, as they don’t know how to dress them and don’t want to block out light . And of course due to size it’s really expensive to do well.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 06/04/2024 08:46

I still like grey.

I injected some colour in our sitting room by changing up cushions and adding artfully draped bright blankets, but I liked the monochrome look better and I’m itching to go back!

Jungfraujoch · 06/04/2024 10:04

No grey in my house! Not a fan - but I love greens and a splash of bright pink. Majority of walls are Dulux Trade Magnolia which we call Dorset Cream in a nod to the poncy paint companies 😁

I like those 1970s clear interior bricks. I saw them called fox’s glacier mints on here once.

They are awesome, friends of my parents had them back in the day. Considering putting some in our attic bathroom to bring more light in, there are loads on ebay.

We have a big wall of bifolds - eek there's another thing I love that I shouldn't! They've been in 12 years now with electronic blinds - but funnily enough, they never get used in the winter - it's the summer shading we use them for - we don't strive for cosiness - the log burner is cosy when I need it (claxon is another thing I love but should hate).

Anyone who’s worked in MH would probably avoid sage green. It’s all I associate it with.
