Soup bowls - help me find soup bowls!

I absolutely hate searching the internet, but need these delivered...

My mother would like some soup bowls. White or beige - with a beige or brown coloured rim.

And....square, deep shape / type. They like a chunky soup.

But not so big they won't fit in the cupboard space (small kitchen cupboards).

Anyone seen anything like this?? Not too cheap (they are a gift) but under £100/£150 for 4 ideally. Could spend more if lovely.

John Lewis is always good for china. They often have seconds as well

I immediately looked at V&B because their stuff is lush. These are gorgeous, but plain white if that might be option.

You can’t put soup in square bowls. Soup is round.

Most pp missed the shape.
Personally I hate square bowls, you can’t scoop everything up!
I can only find cheap ones I’m afraid & plain white.

Square! Shock

Clearly my brain has filtered that part out due to the fact it's madness.

I don't think you can get square stuff any more. It's not the nineties.

Sgtmajormummy · 27/08/2023 18:13

Villeroy and Boch New Wave are square-ish but white.
Ikea Gladelig are beige with a dark ring but round and cheap (hot food and microwaving might crackle the glaze).
Personally I’d ignore all of your criteria and get ceramic Le Creuset soup bowls. They’re generous, colorful, perfectly rustic for soup and bound to get you kudos as the giver.

George at Asda, £3.50 each. Square bowls. A thing of beauty.

Tesco have light beige round pasta bowls that might fit. Bought some a few weeks ago!

I own a single, beige, square bowl. No idea where it came from, but underneath it says 'Tarde Winds Table Ware' . I've googled and cannot find the same one anywhere though! I was going to suggest Denby, Sainsburys or John Lewis might have a square bowl.

BlurMeUp · 27/08/2023 19:10

She has specifically requested square. And definitely not white...

Awkward (and 85 so I'm not going to argue with her!)

Must be deliverable as we live 600 miles apart...

The Denby is lovely for colour but not shape. The Villeroy definitely the wrong colour. (Sorry)

Le creuset tend to be weirdly un stackable...

Those Denby ones at Harts would be brilliant @PriamFarrl - if 5 times bigger!

So not white or beige?

BlurMeUp · 27/08/2023 19:23

Yes - white or beige but must have a beige / brown trim of some kind.

Plan B would be plain beige.

Plain white as I'm entirely white a definite no.

By beige, I mean beige, linen, light sand type colour...

What about a local potter?

HeyMicky · 27/08/2023 20:17

Not properly beige but not really white either www.homestoreandmore.co.uk/dinnerware-collections/abney-and-croft-square-linen-6%22-cereal-bowl/099598.html

I like the eBay ones but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want a dark interior.

I think the square request is going to be too tricky. Those catering ones have no description- and are very cheap for a gift - could be melamine or plastic - you wouldn't know!

Those Abney & Croft ones are pretty much it I think @HeyMicky - but not available for delivery.

I'm not sure I can justify a long trek to central belt Scotland for £30 of bowls. (Much as I love my mother)
