Choose my front door colour

Can anyone suggest a colour for my front door? Have talked dp round into is getting a timber front door instead of composite so I can have it painted any colour. I am normally ok with things like this but I really can't decide.
The house is a little 300 year old cottage by the sea. The exterior paintwork is off white and windows / gutters and pipes are all white. Two small facia boards and log store at front all dark grey. Lots of people round us have sage green or dark grey but I want something a bit different. I was thinking pink but not sure I am brave enough. Any suggestions or photos of yours would be great.

I suggested a pink door which has sparked a tea time debate. DD has said blue because it’s the only colour she knows. DS is adamant it should be orange with blue spots. This won’t be solved quickly

That's so sweet 😀

This would be nice as well. I'm thinking of painting my hallway raspberry pink, but worried it might be a bit overwhelming.

@Chasingsquirrels

one way to find out 😂😂😂

but I think it might need to be lightened right down, so it's not too overwhelming, I guess it depends how much light it gets.If it's only from the glass in your front door, you might need a light on, pretty much permanently!

Indeed and with a room I'd maybe try it out, but the hall stairs & landing is a big job and I'm getting someone in to do it - so don't want to try it & see.

I agree, I think it would be too dark.
There is the glass in the front door plus a 60cm wide but basically floor to ceiling window at 90° to the front door. So that bit is light, but not the rest. And no windows on the upstairs landing.

It is currently sage green, and has been for 20 years. I like it but I've since had a sage kitchen and recently painted the conservatory in a herby green, so feel a different colour or neutral would be better.

Perhaps I should have painted the conservatory raspberry 😄

Oh! That might change my mind from raspberry (which neither OH or DC want!)

The most important thing is the colour of the stone, brick , slate or whatever it is that your cottage is made of. You need to take it into account.

Our terrace house is London Stockton yellow brick. Im finding it difficult to pick a colour tone that complements it. Please may someone post pics of their front doors if they have the same bricks? The choices I've made for our house that I'm happiest with are the bold choices. I painted the nursery yellow including the ceiling and skirts because when the children opened their eyes in the morning I wanted it to look like sunshine. The UK doesn't have enough light to make grey and cool tones look the way they do as houses in L.A or Byron Bay - they can use cool colours because they have sunshine coming in every day, we don't in the UK so consider that!
