Which sofa?

I'd really appreciate any thoughts you have on these sofa choices. As per the name I am fairly useless when it comes to interior decoration and in fact this is the first sofa I'm buying! I can't say I have a specific, defined style but generally I prefer a minimalist look but I also live in a Victorian (terrace style) home so I feel I should also nod to that. I've been told I have a mid-century style Grin

I'm looking to buy a sofa for our bay window. It's a fairly narrow one, so the sofa needs to have a fairly small footprint. Ideally I'd be looking to spend around £400 but I'm worried that this is too cheap and it won't be a solid long-lasting piece. These are the ones I've shortlisted - considerably over the target budget but I do feel it's worth spending more if it will be a better quality product and tick all the boxes.

Oliver Bonas luna love seat
I've not managed to view this in person and sit on it which is putting me off. I'm not sure there is enough of a seat back to be able to sit comfortable and have sufficient back support. Delivery time is 2-4 weeks which is ok. I'm fairly boring so was thinking of the light blue which will match the mid-blue curtains behind it. On the other hand I'm tempted to be a bit bolder and get the dusty pink, which sounds lovely. I do have young children but they're generally ok with not getting furnishings mucky (I may live to regret saying this).

Sofa Workshop 2-seater
Delivery time is 18 weeks!! Not really happy about waiting that long but otherwise I've managed to see it in person and it feels comfortable and satisfies our requirements. The original price seems very high? Not sure if this is indicative of quality or just over-pricing.

Any thoughts?? Or other suggestions?

The Sofa Workshop one for me. (Neither are proper loafing sofas though!)

ponkydonkey · 09/02/2022 09:27

I'd get the sofa workshop one

Can't you buy a matching arm chair to the sofa you already have?

cluelessaboutinteriors · 09/02/2022 09:31

Thanks! I'm going to replace the sofa that I already have but I thought I'd tackle the small sofa before the main one. I'm keen to have a two-seater rather than an armchair in order to have a decent amount of seating for when guests visit.

Oliver bonas for me,,,

LiveFromNewYork · 09/02/2022 09:33

I agree the Oliver Bonas one looks like the back is too low to be very comfortable

Fiddlesticky · 09/02/2022 09:36

We have this

Not sure if would be too big looking at your other choices, but that website is good value and has lots of other options. It's pretty comfortable too!

cluelessaboutinteriors · 09/02/2022 09:51

Unfortunately that one is a bit big but I've had this recommended and it looks like a good option - and a bit cheaper too! John Lewis Archie II

Are you me?! I have just bought a small victoria workers terrace with a bay window so had to replace our sofa and we just got the perle sofa from sofology for the wall opposite the window. It's not that minimal but I love the art deco look and they do a love seat.

Other contenders were groucho from John lewis, natuzzi placere and zinc from dfs. Believe they all do love seats and are more minimal.

My preference is the Oliver bonas chair if it's comfy have you considered a chaise longue? We need to get something for the bay and they are often cheaper than love seats

cluelessaboutinteriors · 09/02/2022 15:35

I’m not sure about a chaise longue, it feels like quite a strong design statement that I’m not quite feeling Smile

Not sure you would comfortably sit two people on such small sofas, nice though they all are. How about two smallish armchairs instead, with a small stool/side table in the middle? Bit more versatile IMO.
Look on FB marketplace for preloved? Or local BIgC shop?
Or something like this?

Of those two I’d go for Sofa Workshop. The back of the OB looks way too low. I’d recommend sofa.com Harper for a similar shape with a normal height back

cluelessaboutinteriors · 10/02/2022 12:02

@LauraJayne15 thanks for the link - yes I think that's too wide and a bit too bright for me but I can see lots of other good options on that website so will have a browse.

Oliver bonas ❤️

buckwheat · 11/02/2022 11:01

OP which one fid you go for? We need a bay window sofa too. Currently we have 2 chairs and a table but it’s too snug.

I also like this one www.oliverbonas.com/furniture/flora-pink-velvet-loveseat-sofa-253523?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping%20UK&utm_term=1271348&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm_7Y_r739QIVEpftCh1OuQwAEAQYFSABEgI8EfD_BwE#selection.color=26931

I’ve still not managed to make a decision Blush

AnnaSW1 · 11/02/2022 12:54

The second one. The back on the OB one won't be comfy.

LadyEloise1 · 11/02/2022 16:37

The OB one doesn't look comfortable.
Nor does the Sofa Workshop one - there is nowhere for your arm to go - the arm rest is too high. But I do love a seat with an armrest. Smile
M&S do a pink loveseat.

KylieCharlene · 11/02/2022 16:42

I like the sofa workshop one.
I laughed when I saw the OB one. It looks ridiculous with that non-back.

Frazzlerock · 11/02/2022 16:49

You've got a fair few suggestions which are lovely, but have you tried Loaf? We got ours from there and love love love it. You can get all sizes, fabrics, and colours. Ours is the cinema 4 seater in velvet. It also cleans mega easily, no idea how. We have a 15 month old and its always covered in stuff which just wipes off.

FWIW I prefer the Sofa Workshop out of your choices Smile

cluelessaboutinteriors · 11/02/2022 17:43

I’ve looked at Loaf but it’s so expensive! After I buy the small sofa I’ll be getting another big sofa so I really can’t be spending more than £1k on the small one

OP posts:
LauraJayne15 · 12/02/2022 08:06

The thing with Loaf is that they always have a big footprint due to the depth. They’re deep sofas designed to snuggle up on

How about the Mia Loveseat at M&S? www.marksandspencer.com/mia-loveseat/p/fhp60501312?Cushions=03750636&Legs=08665683&Fabrics=03068830

cultkid · 12/02/2022 08:07

Oliver bonas looks a lot nicer but it has a low back doesn't it
