I've got ones from Oka, really pleased with them, quite pricey, my bunch were about £130 but feel worth it

CrystalMaisie · 28/12/2020 15:46

I’ve got some hydrangeas from TK maxx, lots of people have thought they were real.

Bluntness100 · 28/12/2020 15:47

I have a few different arrangements from bloom Uk. They aren’t cheap but they are lovely.

Peony
They have their own website, also sell on qvc
They have an outlet shop close to where I live and I buy mine from there

NotDonna · 28/12/2020 21:46

Ooh Bluntness & nanasue some of those are really lovely. Thank you! I’ve been looking at blooming artificial sleepismysuperpower1 so it’s good to have a recommendation that they look good in real life. It’s always hard to tell online.

Abigail Ahern- beautiful single stems and pre-tied bouquets.

Is it possible to have lovely faux flowers?
No.
Not in my opinion.

I’ve yet to see any genuinely lovely examples.

Toilenstripes · 29/12/2020 06:45

No, I don’t think so. And why bother? You can pick up fresh flowers easily and relatively inexpensively. You don’t need a massive bouquet, just a few stems from a local florist.

EL1984 · 29/12/2020 06:47

Oka have a great faux flower range

Yes, becayse everyone is running to the local florist every few days during a pandemic,,
Swaddlemeinplants · 29/12/2020 07:43

Most supermarkets sell cut flowers.
Pick up a cheap £3 bunch with your weekly shop? 🤷‍♀️
I’m not really into cut flowers myself though knowing they are dying.

The bloom link a PP posted has orchids in vases for eye wateringly stupid amounts of money.

Phalenopsis orchids retail for less than a tenner, I’ve often seen them reduced as low as £1 in the supermarket because the flowers have died.

Orchids are reliably perennial and live for many years and flower for up to 6 months of the year.

Google their care, get a couple, pick up a cheap fishbowl vase from Poundland, add some sphagnum moss off eBay to disguise the orchid pots.
Much nicer and considerably cheaper!

Geraniums flower nearly all year indoors, as do Streptocarpus and African violet.
All easily ordered online and a fraction of the price of those hideous plastic flowers.

edgeware · 29/12/2020 07:46

Neptune do some lovely ones BUT I tend to prefer preserved flowers now! I have some preserved eucalyptus, some moss, and a bouquet with hydrangeas. It looks real because it is real but still doesn’t go off.

SimplyRadishing · 29/12/2020 07:47

No.
My mil has an array of eye wateringly expensive ones all covered in a layer of dust Envy (not envy)

Cleverpolly3 · 29/12/2020 07:52

Aren’t they just dust magnets?
Those prices on the second link are simply extortionate

Sway19 · 29/12/2020 07:53

No, it isn’t. Fake flowers are dreadful

Lots of reasons. Mess, allergies and a danger to some pets to name a few.

OP I have a gorgeous huge bunch of faux lilies from M&S in my entryway. Everyone comments on them and are surprised when I say they aren’t real. You will need to spend a bit to make a ‘believable’ looking arrangement though. Possibly £80+

ouchmyfeet · 29/12/2020 08:11

The number of people who ignore the OP's very specific question Confused

I have a lovely fake orchid that I got from Costco. It was about £50 but it's the only realistic looking fake I've ever seen, have given up trying to keep the real ones alive!

SavoyCabbage · 29/12/2020 08:15

I don't have a local florist so I can pick up a few stems. If you want a vape shop or a kebab then that's no problem.

NotDonna · 29/12/2020 10:08

@edgeware where are you getting your preserved hydrangeas from please? That’s what I’d like plus some grasses. I think.

I can’t have real flowers in the house due to severe allergies, but I have managed to pick up some faux hydrangeas and roses etc from the range. The bouquets are a bit naff, but I typically buy singles stems and make an arrangement myself with some faux foliage. Pretty cheap in comparison but it’s your luck of the draw as to what they have

HasaDigaEebowai · 29/12/2020 11:43

I have a fake succulent bowl which everyone thinks is real and a very expensive fake orchid which does look real (but partly because its supplemented with real stuff. Most fake flowers look fake though, you do have to spend a fair bit to get decent ones.

The current trend is dried flowers though. I use Shida, their arrangements are lovely and last up to a year. I blow dry mine on cold on a very low power setting to remove any dust. The arrangements with eucalyptus are particularly lovely since they smell wonderful too.

edgeware · 29/12/2020 21:14

@NotDonna My hydrangea bouquet is from Shida Preserved Flowers, but I’ve also seen some on Etsy that I was going to give a go. My other ones are from Dowsing and Reynolds (eucalyptus, and some sort of grass). Very pleased with all, I’ve had them since may and still perfect. The Dowsing and Reynolds ones you can’t even tell are preserved.

cheezy · 29/12/2020 21:18

I don’t think faux flowers can ever be nice but some dried flowers can look great eg alliums, astrantia, Chinese lanterns.

grownup2 · 29/12/2020 21:37

This tip is for next year I guess, but an arrangement of good quality cut hydrangeas with sprigs of eucalyptus will preserve itself if you give it a bit if water in the vase initially but then let it dry out gradually. Mine was an autumn bouquet from Arena flowers subscription (highly recommended BTW).
Re faux flowers, I think faux greenery can work well, and I like a few stems I got from Bloom, but I sent the flowers back as unreal and creepy.
