I didn't want to hijack someone's similar thread but could do with some help please.

We're looking for a paint that's the palest possible cream/white - ie white with the slightest touch of warmth. We have curtains with a pale linen coloured background so I don't want these to look dirty. The room is dark, despite being dual aspect to the south and west.

I've tried F&B Wevet, Wimbourne White and All White as well as Dulux Timeless (among loads of other samples we already had in the house) and they're all still too beige. Any thoughts please?

I personally come in these threads to rave about All White, but have you tried Crown Sail White or Milk White? They are both v v pale.

Utini · 16/08/2020 23:59

We have Dulux white cotton in our kitchen and one of the bedrooms, I really like it. I'd say it's quite a neutral white, softer than pure brilliant white. Definitely not beige.

ToyKitchenSink · 17/08/2020 00:44

I'll def give those a go. Thanks. Suspect from the pics that Milk White might be too creamy though. Any other ideas gratefully received!

This may sound odd, but try Dulux pure brilliant white. Light from the sun and your light bulbs will soften the colour.

Will give it a go! Thanks.

Piano white Dulux.

Annny27 · 17/08/2020 23:20

Almond white dulux:)

Annny27 · 17/08/2020 23:21

On reflection almond white is probablt a little bit too beige for what you wanted! Sorry

gingerbread88 · 17/08/2020 23:22

Dulux- Timeless?

AlwaysLatte · 17/08/2020 23:23

We love Hardwick White here!

Lund · 17/08/2020 23:25

We have Dulux Jasmine White which is just a very subtle hint of off-white. Much paler than Timeless, which is almost Magnolia in comparison.

Deardonkey · 17/08/2020 23:27

Dulux pure brilliant white is not brilliant white it’s softer - I second the poster who advised you to try it.

onlinelinda · 18/08/2020 22:02

Dulux trade white is softer but pbw is not: it has blue in it.

Jasmine white has a yellow tint to it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll pick up some more samples shorty.

I also suggest trying piano white 61YY85050.

ToyKitchenSink · 20/08/2020 21:13

@onlinelinda thanks. I'll add it to the list. Where do you buy dulux trade paints from? And is there any benefit (and cons) to them vs what I can pick up in B&Q?

Another vote for Dulux Jasmine White, very slight hint of cream/yellow in it.

Bowerbird5 · 20/08/2020 21:33

We had our kitchen cupboards painted in F&B Dimity. We were going to have Wimborne but changed our minds after seeing the undercoat plus first coat. They painted four layers.
The trade paint company confirmed it has a little touch of pink which makes it ever so slightly warmer but other people have also said this.
Worth a try with some match pots.

minipie · 20/08/2020 22:22

Second Trade White! Johnstones trade white is a nice, slightly warmer than paper white. Little Greene Shirting is similar (at a higher price )

Little Greene and Paint and Paper Library have some lovely whites generally. If you want something a tad warmer than Shirting or trade White, Loft White by Little Greene might suit.

Crown trade snowdrop is one I like.

You need to go to a crown outlet rather than retail shop

ToyKitchenSink · 21/08/2020 14:06

Thanks again for all the tips. Can you buy tester pots of trade paints?

OP posts:
onlinelinda · 21/08/2020 14:55

@ToyKitchenSink yes you can. I'm not sure where you can get trade paint but most places with a mixer do it. Eg B and Q. Or check on the Dulux website for your area? It's way better than Valspar etc. Thicker. I have been using trade diamond Matt recently, which is washable. I even dilute it a little. I can definitely recommend the shade 61YY85050. I've just used it and it is gorgeous, and has really lightened my dining room. It isn't too pink or brown or yellow. It's most similar to Wimborne white from F and B.

onlinelinda · 21/08/2020 14:57

Most trade colours are the same as all Dulux paint colours. The shade I recommended is one you ha e to have made up, but they do testers in it for £5.

Daftasabroom · 21/08/2020 17:44

Another one for Dulux Pure Brilliant White, but be warned the bathroom specialist paint is much bluer/colder.

ToyKitchenSink · 21/08/2020 19:41

Thanks so much for all the tips. Will be heading to pick up some samples next week. I'll keep you posted!
