Mid Blue-Grey for Narrow Edwardian Hallway. LOSING MY MIND

I have had several A4 swatches up for a week. Of these my favourite was Little Greene Juniper Ash, which is a deep blue/grey. I bought it even thought it was by far the strongest/darkest, but now I think it's too dark for the hallway which is narrow and has shit light. I have put the paint aside for another room but could still be persuaded to just 'go with the dark'. Maybe...

I have also got swatches up of:

LG: Bone China Blue - maybe - but bit wishy washy
LG: Celestial Blue - quite nice but too close to the F&B Dix blue which it runs into in the bathroom on the first landing.
Farrow and Ball: Parma Grey - too blue/wedgewoody
Farrow and Ball: Oval Room - too green
Craig and Rose : Steel Pole. Too Grey, too dead, sucks the light out.
Dulux: Denim Drift - don't like - again seems to be look a bit dead

I am attaching two images of the kind of colour I'm after (they are allegedly 'down pipe' - which I don't believe for a minute and 'Oval Room' but oval room on my wall is green).

The third picture isn't my hallway, but it might as well be. Very similar in size and with the same moulding on the ceiling.

I am off to buy more tester pots tomorrow and would love some recommendations please!

@MrsElijahMikaelson1 allegedly F&B Oval Room - but completely green on my wall.

@TiddleTaddleTat - completely beautiful - love the Lupin colour and might use it for the living room which has big sashes and lots of light. But I think it will absorb too much light in the hallway. It seems to be a similar shade to Juniper Ash but with a little more white in the base. I love!

@TabbyStar. Oh no! Was leaning torwards this today - what happened when it went on?

@InfiniteSheldon I have Dimpse in the hall at the moment. And the kitchen. It's lovely - really light reflecting but I'm over it now. I want something that is a bit more of a colour.

I can't tell anymore. Everything looks the same facepalm

As a complete opposite what about dulux oyster cove 2

fruitpastille · 11/07/2020 16:04

Craig and Rose Morris blue?

TabbyStar · 11/07/2020 17:34

It just looked blue, no grey tint. It is a really light room. But my BF made the same mistake in her kitchen.

Paint and Paper Library Steel II

SwedishEdith · 11/07/2020 23:22

Oo, bought a Swedish Blue tester today. For a door in my hallway. Think I'm going for it. There's definitely a very slight grey in it. Look at Dulux Heritage Copenhagen Blue.

GiantKitten · 11/07/2020 23:36

We have a narrow hall which is fairly gloomy for most of the day - I was looking at blue-greys for below the dado rail but didn’t like any of them on.

Decorator suggested a sort of pale chocolate colour below, and off-white above, and it looks much nicer than I’d ever have thought. Probably all wrong for what you want but this is it.

The LG bone China blue isn't at all wishy washy. It really lifts my north facing lounge and goes with everything.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 12/07/2020 13:27

These are in various parts of my hallway.
Dark colour Parma gray; light colour skylight.
Not convinced with either...looks really blue in some and grey in others

The problem with blue/grey is that it is a cold colour that can be harsh , I prefer warm undertones in my house (west/east facing rooms) so have gone for warmer greys, lilacs and blues -
LG slaked lime, slaked lime dark and mid
LG pale lupin
LG dash of soot

LivingInTheBackOfBeyond · 12/07/2020 16:11

To anyone that has Pale Lupin, does it look quite purpley? I had considered it but rejected for that reason and settled on Blue Stone. I actually like the idea of purple but DH, less so. The room is large with high ceilings and south and west facing windows, so can probably take most colours. I got the current colour wrong and still dislike it a few years later, so when we repaint need to get it right this time. as I won’t be allowed to do it again Smile

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/07/2020 17:12

No I don't find pale lupin purpley at all, just a very soft almost lavender blue in some lights.
Recommend a sample!!

@MrsElijahMikaelson1

Parma Grey is really chameleon like. This is my Parma Grey front door (utterly outing so will delete later). On the piece of A4 in my hallway it is a cool grey with hardly any blue at all.

Good to hear @PickAChew. Definitely leaning towards it.

TiddleTaddleTat - thanks, I do already have a sample pot, so I may revisit it.

I really like LG paint, we have a stairwell painted in Hicks Blue and it still looks like new after a year, even though we have two small boys. Otherwise, we have Farrow & Ball colours mixed with Crown Extreme Clean Matt, which seems to be pretty indestructible.

LivingInTheBackOfBeyond · 12/07/2020 18:24

Slightly jaded, I love your pathway!

LivingInTheBackOfBeyond · 12/07/2020 18:26

“Grey Stone” not Blue Stone!

caringcarer · 12/07/2020 18:29

I would go with a light Primrose lemon in a dark area to brighten it up. Not keen on dark blues.

onlinelinda · 12/07/2020 20:18

@giantkitten what is the colour above the dado?

GiantKitten · 12/07/2020 22:15
@giantkitten what is the colour above the dado?
I think it’s nutmeg white, linda

It was over 5 years ago, & the decorator had the colours mixed in trade paint, so the tins didn’t have the proper labels on, but looking at the Dulux charts nutmeg white rings a bell, and that colour looks right in the images from google.

Pretty sure the darker one was soft truffle.

AnnaNimmity · 12/07/2020 22:18

I have F&B DeNimes in my victorian hallway. It looks fab!

I have black floors (Railings).

cozycat1 · 13/07/2020 22:48

How is the Blue search going? I am interested to see what you end up with. am currently possibly looking for a blue to paint over a wall colour recently done, but don't like. Its good to to see what the colours look like on paper.

I think I have fallen in love with the colours of Paint and Paper library, after seeing various shades in magazines, but not yet ordered any. Usually go for Little Greene. Check out the blues at P+P library. Blues Blue?

Someone mentioned the Paint and Paper Library and I received some samples today. I'm really liking Porcelain 4 or 5.

I'm also thinking that the OP may like their Sea Nor Sky which I'm also considering. It's a lovely, moody, blue grey.

SlightyJaded · 14/07/2020 19:39

Ok going to do a Paint and Paper sweep tomorrow and then THAT'S IT.

Going to add Porcelain V, Sea Nor Sky and Blue Vein to the shortlist.

Will update....

Add Ice 5 by Paint and Paper as well!
