Dulux Timeless (again) or Jasmine White

I’ve just bought a flat for investment purposes and although it’s less than 10 years old, it needs a bit of TLC with a repaint and freshen up. I want to keep things neutral and the same all the way through - the existing colour, although it doesn’t show it - is a sort of mushroom colour and as the living room is 20’ x 20’ with the only natural light from French doors, I want a shade of white to brighten but not PBW. The whole flat’s lighting is LED down lights too. Any thoughts on Timeless vs Jasmine White vs Orchid White? I don’t want to stray into any of the more expensive paints as I want a colour that is easily accessible if it needs subsequent refreshes! Many thanks. 😊

I like Timeless personally. I'm sure we did a tester for Jasmine White & it was very purple & not what we were looking for at all.

My husband has just thrown Dulux Almond White into the mix too! I’m conscious it might look a bit ‘griege’ but I want to add some strong colours when I accessorise.

I've got dulux almond white and it looks very fresh, it doesn't have a look of greige at all!

DramaAlpaca · 19/06/2020 19:03

Orchid white is very yellowy, I wouldn't choose that myself. We painted our first house in orchid white thirty years ago so I consider it dated.

I don't think you can go wrong with timeless. We've got other samples before and been determined to choose something different before choosing timeless ahah.

RaggieDolls · 19/06/2020 19:06

Again!

Comefromaway · 19/06/2020 19:07

I bought a jasmine white tester for the kitchen and didn’t like it.

Charliebong · 19/06/2020 19:08

I use Dulex timeless in the lounge...there have been occasions when Ive fancied a change ....I try various shades of white...always go back to timeless!

RhianFuckingMorris · 19/06/2020 19:12

I have Jasmine White. If it has any hint and I mean the tiniest of hints,I would.say green definately not purple.
Although it's just a soft white really imo.
Orchid white was a bit too yellow when we tested it..
Timeless was very similar to our Jasmine White when we did a tester patch. We did thebyesters twice because we couldn't tell the difference. It was size of tins available in Homebase thatbswung our decision because they were so similar.

We have just had our entire downstairs plus stairs and landing painted in Almond White and we really like it. It is a very light yellow my cream. We agonised over jasmine white, timeless or almond white. We have then painted our bedroom in Timeless and that has a very slight tinge of green and is cooler than AW.

Asiama · 19/06/2020 21:16

We tried all of those out and went with Jasmine White for the living room. I think we took timeless for the landing. The lighting in your house will have a significant impact. Jasmine white was perfect in our living room where we get lots of light, but too yellow in the landing.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 19/06/2020 21:23

Another vote for timeless - got it on hall, stairs and landing.

whereorwhere · 19/06/2020 21:28

I love both but I think timeless is slightly less yellow and more neutral

Cannotcope4223 · 19/06/2020 21:28

Gorgeous flat by the way... it looks well as it is!

Thank you, that’s very kind. 😊 We’re very pleased with our purchase but the photos are quite flattering of the state of the walls. Only cosmetic, but a lot of grubby marks, dinks and holes from previous wall decorations. I’m not planning a radical colour change, just an update and refresh.

I just love jasmine white, it's a very soft but bright white and I don't get a tinge of any other colour in my quite light bedroom. My favourite white Smile

Been in touch with a recommended decorator and he has shown me a Dulux trade colour called Jabot. Looked very similar to Timeless. Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of that one? Many thanks! :)

@2389Champ Jabot is my go to colour for ceilings and woodwork. It is however really, really similar to Timeless. If i were you i would use Timeless rather than Jabot for a rental because you can walk into any DIY store and buy a tub and do any touch ups you'd need to do, quick and easily. Jabot has to be mixed.
And honestly there is hardly any difference.
In my hall I've jabot on the ceiling and Timeless on the walls and they look the same colour. I once accidently touched up a bit of the Timeless wall with Jabot and only in certain lights could you see the difference.

Thank you, that’s certainly worth knowing - much appreciated. :)

Just finished painting our master bed in timeless for the walls and ceiling and coving. Woodwork is f and b Wimborne white.

Obviously hard to tell from pictures, and currently no direct light on the walls.

It's a nice shade. I've heard it described as a dirty white when next to pure brilliant white, hence pairing it with the slightly warmer white for the woodwork

Timeless - definitely. It’s a warm neutral that looks good in all light imo. Jasmine White had definite hint of green (in north facing room) and I don’t say that in a positive way!

verybritishproblems · 26/06/2020 19:09

We’ve just done our hallway in Misty Moon, it’s a very light and bright creamy white. We were umming and ahhing about that and are putting Timeless in the bedroom as it’s a cooler white and and Misty Moon is a lot warmer.

verybritishproblems · 26/06/2020 19:10

that and Timeless*

That’s interesting, I’ve seen a few comments online saying that Timeless tends to pick up surrounding colours, that’s why it’s a very good all around choice. I can see that from your pictures, so it will stop me fussing about trying to match paint matching existing fixture and fittings!

Has anyone tried an alternative to Wimborne in a really dark (but quite big) space? I have a practically windowless space which must be painted in Dulux as I have a replacement voucher.
