I was wondering if anyone has used this colour?

I love it when I see it in blogs and tried it today and it looks purple!!!!

I’m not sure what direction the room is but it is a cold room.

I need a faint pink to go with skimming stone and navy.

I don’t like more obvious pink colours and want something subtle.

I tried calamine and it reminds me of the colour my bedroom was when I was six years old, far too girly and pink.

I don’t like any shade of peach either so setting plaster has been ruled out.i know I need to try lots of testers but I really don’t want the additional cost esp when it’s for a tiny room.

My bedroom is peignoir. I love it. Doesnt look purple to me but maybe depends on the light. It looks pinkish mauve-ish grey to me. Toom 3 coats to get coverage though.

babysnowman · 15/08/2019 21:12

I used it on one wall in a room that gets relatively little light. It definitely pulls quite lilac during the day but with a light on you see more of a pink.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 15/08/2019 21:41

Thank you for your replies.

Yes I see more lilac than pink too.

The thing is I detest lilac.

Can anybody recommend a F&B subtle pink grey please?

Has anyone tried sulking room?

Is it too deep for a small room?

The sample I saw today wasn’t what I would call ‘subtle’......

Great white might be more what I’m looking for...

I’ve used F&B pink ground and I love it. Although maybe not subtle enough for what you want

I have it in our bedroom and it’s beautiful. Our room faces west. I’ll see if I can find a photo...

Shadowboy · 15/08/2019 22:09

This is it just painted...

Your room (and curtains particularly!) are fab. Where are the curtains from please?

It looks lovely in this room. I've concluded the room I'm painting is north and it is definitely more lilac. There is a very bright light in there too which doesn't help but is needed unfortunately.

I was just researching pink ground and had made a note to myself to pick up a sample. I'm worried though that there is a hint of peach?

The three colours I dislike most are lilac/peach and yellow so I'm trying hard to avoid any hint of these.

Do any of the 'whites' have a pink hue?

Does it have to be F&B? Little Greene's Dorchester Pink matches your requirements I think.

Most of the room (bar the oak bedside cabinets) are Laura Ashley. We had the curtains made up in 2017 so it’s not a current colour way but the fabric is very very thick- it’s on a double curtain pole with an off while voice behind that I shut when I still want light but some privacy due to the floor- (almost) ceiling window. Light fitting and bed frame are Laura Ashley - probably 2015?

Shadowboy · 15/08/2019 23:11

Voile not voice. That would be creepy.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 15/08/2019 23:25

It is lovely Shadow

I have a peignoir bedroom. It doesn't read lilac to me at all.

It's pink/grey but not pink. I guess I'd call it mushroom grey/pink.

I love it! Also the paint was virtually odour free which was wonderful.

threadneedle · 18/08/2019 00:55

Dimity is a neutral with a pink hue.

Henlie · 21/08/2019 16:15

Op - try Elephant’s breath.....it looks great in north facing rooms, as has warmth to the colour....

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 21/08/2019 17:59

Thank you everyone. I used Elephant’s Breath before and it was very purple. I really disliked it as I’m just not a fan of purple unfortunately. I really wanted something with a subtle pink but everything I’m trying with a shade of pink looks purple in the room. It is frustrating as i can’t seem to find a suitable colour. Even the pinks look lilac toned.

That is amazing thank you!

Which do you like?

I tried F&B calamine and it looks like pink candy floss in bright light and lilac in dimmer light. I have dimity in a small bedroom and like it but it is quite beige. A warm beige. The room needs to be repainted and I’m going to do it in a lighter shade.

Is pink ground very peach? The Frugality painted her child’s room in it and I thought the lighting in her room might have made it look peach but in the paint shop this week, I thought the board sample was peach too.

I love Calamine, I have it in a couple of rooms, but it is different in every one and it's not right for this room I think. Pink ground is definitely peachy, I think in a dark room it would look like plaster, in a bright room it's a bit orange to my eye.

I'm not sure if Colourtrend paints are available in the UK (I'm in Ireland), their Beag, top left is lovely, i think it's my favourite and I have been loyal to Calamine for years. It's corally/peachy without being orange.

Here's pink ground and calamine side by side

Another which I was considering is Little Green light peach blossom, might be worth looking at that

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 23/08/2019 14:47

The Beag is lovely. Are there lilac tones to it though I can’t see lilac in the kitchen photo?

I’m trying to avoid peach and lilac and every colour which has the slightest tint or tone of either. I rrented for years in my twenties and they were the go to colours for landlords. They left a bad impression on me 😀

It’s surprisingly difficult to find a pink without purple or peach undertones.

I found pink ground very...flesh coloured. We have Calluna in a north facing bedroom and it’s amazing-peaceful, grownup, dreamy. But you hate lilac so...

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 23/08/2019 22:01

I went back today and spoke to the F&B lady who said all F&B pinks have either lilac or peach undertones. She said she doesn’t see peignoir as a pink at all. It is lilac. She held the samples under warm and white lighting.

I’m very embarrassed going in at this stage.

I brought home some other sample pots in two different shades. Fingers crossed!
