Blush pink - what can I put with it that is not too girly?

So I have got some blush pink linen curtains I inherited from my DD room - she hates them. They are fine and I hate to throw things out so will use them in my room. Then I went and bought a blush pink feather lampshade from Laura Ashley (I know! which I am really not sure about......because I'm not really a pink person) So I need your help. What can I put with it which is not too girly girly! All I can think of is grey and white (white duvet, grey throw/bedspread) but DD has that colour scheme and I don't want to copy. Would citrus lime bedspread look ghastly? or maybe a strong peacock blue? i would like to aim for vintage/french feel if poss!

Dark inky navy looks nice with blush pink. Maybe cream if your room is dark already?

Chattycatty · 15/01/2019 23:19

Ohh navy so nice with pink and maybe copper accents

CosmicComet · 15/01/2019 23:21

Dark green, navy or charcoal?

danceyourselfsilly · 15/01/2019 23:22

that's a good idea - I love navy - thanks !
walls are white, built in cupboard white carpet grey - so it is a blank canvas at the moment - I haven't got much money but was thinking of going bold with painting one dark blue or grey wall or the built in wardrobe but never been that bold with paint before because used to live in a very dark cottage and couldn't face making it darker. have you got any dark coloured walls? I saw some when I looked round some houses in the summer and they looked fab

Dark green looks amazing with blush pink imo. Have a look on Pinterest if you have it.

danceyourselfsilly · 15/01/2019 23:24

Pinterest has lovely ideas.

Chocolate? Especially chocolate leather.
Blue would be nice but peacock blue might be too green

danceyourselfsilly · 15/01/2019 23:28

just back... love the green and pink combo - wasn't sure at first image thought it might look like a bad old peoples home but then i saw some gorgeous examples and I could go emerald green velvet which I am now very excited about! I love navy too so will have to see what I can buy/afford....

let me know if you spot any lovely dark green throws anywhere and would you use white linen/cotton duvet or coloured one? I once bought an expensive grey linen duvet and it always looked a complete mess - Took forever to iron and next day it looked horrible again - but maybe I just have no taste

I think burgundy would look really nice, and then some white/grey to neutralise it slightly.

pinkground202 · 16/01/2019 11:54

I have pink all over our house, it looks much better with white than cream. White, blush with gold accents is my favourite. As others have said navy, dark green, charcoal are good with it, I also love deep raspberry, greyish blues and olive green with blush.

I avoid anything yellow/orange toned - yellowish creams, or coppery colours, they don't blend well with blush to my eye.

Iamneverfull · 16/01/2019 12:11

Rose gold, white and grey? Look at h&m home or zara home

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 16/01/2019 14:25

Emerald green is lovely with blush, white, and gold/copper accents!

Plants will also introduce green into your scheme if you're going down the accessories route rather than wall colour Smile

Mustard

FloatingthroughSpace · 16/01/2019 14:45

Ponders if it might not be cheaper to buy new curtains and lampshade in a colour OP likes

greenpinkroom · 16/01/2019 14:52

Name changed, but I've just done green & pink in an open plan house and I really like it!

Blush pink - what can I put with it that is not too girly?
danceyourselfsilly · 16/01/2019 15:51

green and pink - lovely ! It's a combination I would never have thought of before but now.... love it
i do know where you're coming from floating but I am going to embrace the new blush pink/green me! Might splash out on a beautiful velvet bedspread when I can afford it but otherwise, bit of paint and maybe a roll of wallpaper/some nice prints and plants should do it for me

I have a blush pink wall in my bedroom and the other three are moonstone grey - just takes away the mega girlie ness

norrismcwhirtersfridgemagnet · 18/01/2019 20:59

Toast have a stunning dark green velvet throw which would look amazing with blush pink. Also agree navy and very deep grey.

danceyourselfsilly · 18/01/2019 23:01

thanks moondancer - I am thinking one blush pink wall - although the lampshade makes the wall look pink already! and grey wardrobe doors (it is a built in wardrobe folding door type with quite nice old doors so think might work) Am I thinking moonstone grey is not too dark - do you know where you got it from?
norrismcwhirter - yes saw that lovely toast one too and heals have a beautiful one also......

I would put a taupe type colour with the pink you describe. Elephants breath or skimming stone, something like that. I have f and b dimity in the spate room with blush pink accessories and bedding which I think looks nice.

danceyourselfsilly · 19/01/2019 11:06

thanks for the suggestions bluesheep - just had a look and I think I agree with you! I love the f and b videos - haven't used their colours for ages but love
the bedroom in current house is north facing so I do think the taupe would be less "dark" than grey
I love dark colours in other peoples houses but not sure if I could live with it - I do get affected by low light
