Any suggestions for a light grey with warm tones, for a loft bedroom? I bought lots of testers today from farrow and ball and little greene and none are quite right! The little green ‘Welcome’ comes closest...
Anyone know of eg nice dulux greys?

Thanks!

Do you want a soft grey or a bluesy-grey.?

hamsterwheel · 16/05/2018 21:11

We have chic shadow by Dulux and its lovley.

IpanemaChica · 16/05/2018 21:13

We have f&b ammonite in our north facing hallway and I find that reasonably ‘warm’.

mrsmonkey14 · 16/05/2018 21:15

Thanks I’ll have a look at that one.
oldhag1 I think I want a ‘soft’ grey? I thought F&b peignoir would be good but it looks very dark/pinky now I’ve painted a swatch.

ipanema thanks that’s interesting - ammonite is one of the swatches I’ve painted, will look at it again in different light. The bedroom is in a loft, southerly facing. (But if I find a nice grey I might also put it in northerly front room as losing will to live on choosing stuff, ha!). The whole house is being renovated so it’s a building site which makes it all the harder to choose as tricky to properly see things in situ! I’m awaiting the glass to go in the loft window so I can pin my swatches up (currently looking at them in house where we’re staying whilst work being done)

I tried the full farrow and ball and little greene ranges of greys and eventually went for Fired Earth Pearl Ashes. It's maybe slightly lilacy. Gets lots of complements

CVLB · 16/05/2018 22:12

We have ammonite is south facing lounge and in bright light the walls almost look white!!

We have varying shades of this paint throughout the house https://www.paintandpaperlibrary.com/lead-v

Lead v is one we have in our bedroom (south facing) and lead III In hallway, stairs and landing. I really like both colours. You can pick up testers from Brewers.

Good luck Smile

We went for dulux goose down in our new loft conversion. It looks slightly blue tinged in certain lights (that might be due to the bedding we have though!). Really pleased with it and the coverage.

penona · 16/05/2018 22:18

Sanderson paints are nice colours. We have Grey Birch and it’s a lovely soft warm grey. Also have Lead shade colours mentioned earlier (paint and paper library) but that looks very blue.

BusyBee27 · 16/05/2018 22:22

Try Dulux Egyptian Cotton - it’s lovely! Smile

MissMarplesKnitting · 16/05/2018 22:22

I have ammonite in loads of places, it's definitely a greige.

Clay white by crown in bedroom which I have to say I love. It's really light, the room feels bigger and calm.

mrsmonkey14 · 16/05/2018 22:40

I love you lot - this is all super helpful! Thank you!

Dulux just walnut

No blueness

mrsjackrussell · 16/05/2018 22:46

Wilkes have a lovely very light grey. Can't remember the name though

LadyGrey66 · 16/05/2018 22:49

Dulux polished pebble is lovely.

namechangedtoday15 · 17/05/2018 00:12

The Wilko Best Flat Matt paint has recently beaten some of the high end brands in blind tests. We've just used a grey one but helpfully can't remember what it's called.

We also have Laura Ashley Dove Grey in other parts of the house and Dulux Pebble Shore.

mynd82 · 17/05/2018 09:21

We recently did a loft bedroom and were faced with the same question. Our first choice was Dulux Polished Pebble, but when it went on the wall it had a noticeable blue tint to it, particularly in good natural light. We instead went for Dulux Egyptian Cotton - we've had it before, and though it isn't the most exciting, it's a nice safe colour that's warm, light and not too grey. Ticked all the right boxes and contrasts really well with white furniture.

Hi have you got a tester of Farrow and Ball Purbeck stone? We painted our hall this colour and I love it. It's a lovely soft grey. I'll attach some photos but the light is fading here so they're not great.

Have a look at Dulux Wishing Well, we still get compliments on it even after 4 years!

bathildab · 17/05/2018 21:35

Little Greene welcome is a good lilac grey

The LG French Grey range is a nice warm grey. Mid is much lighter than FG itself.

slithytove · 17/05/2018 22:18

Came on to say dulux chic shadow

mrsmonkey14 · 17/05/2018 23:04

Thanks very much for all your messages. I’ve been diligently going through all the suggestions with my paint charts in front of me!! I think I don’t want anything that looks beige/ cream/brown at all. Or green.
So I guess that pushes me over to the lilac-y side of greys?! Been looking again at the testers I painted and the Little Greene welcome is the only possible so far (not yet been to buy further sample pots on strength of this thread - that’s a job for tomorrow!)

namechangeforakitchen thanks for the photos - your hall is lovely! I haven’t tried purbeck stone yet. My place is very early 30s style, some Art Deco features. Not yet decided on hall colour!

I got a Wilko flat Matt grey called blotting paper, it’s gorgeous.

namechangedtoday15 · 17/05/2018 23:12
