Any suggestions for a light grey with warm tones, for a loft bedroom? I bought lots of testers today from farrow and ball and little greene and none are quite right! The little green ‘Welcome’ comes closest...
Anyone know of eg nice dulux greys?

Thanks!

We used crown smoked oyster- it has lilac undertones and changes colour as the day passes.

We have Duluth Engraved Locket. It's a proper pale grey rather than green/brown/blue grey.

I'm not a fan of lilac-greys.

We went with Dulux Grey Steel. It comes in 4 depths of colour, which makes it easy to vary shades depending on the light in different rooms, and/or for feature walls.

I have also used Dulux Night Jewels in another house which comes in approx 5 depths of colour.

Both are true, clean greys (IMO).

Another one who's used dulux chic shadow,in living room and I find it cosy(not a dull grey) although if you want to be sure,I'd get loads of testers and see which one you love Smile

Dulux Chic Shadow here. I found Farrow and Ball's Pavillion grey too greeny.

That looks dark though I think Op is looking for light grey

mrsmonkey14 · 19/05/2018 19:40

Clearly this is a question many of you have pondered! Thanks so much. I have today bought 9 more tester pots and busy painting swatches!
That chic shadow looks gorgeous, I suppose I was really thinking of a lighter grey. Worried a darker grey may not work in loft room??
Those with loft rooms, have you painted ceiling white? Just wondering with the different slopes etc whether the ceiling should be same colour as wall or if that will just look weird?

freda is that your blog?? I love it - so stylish.
Had trouble getting hold of some of the suggestions as some colours they can’t mix a tester pot for / makes me wonder how people choose them? Do you just buy a big pot and try it?!
It will be a decorator doing the actual painting and he will be using trade paint I think, and colour matching to whatever we choose.
I realised I forgot to get f&b purbeck stone. Aargh.

This is a dulux white that has a hint of grey. Pic show headboard of bed, wall and white coving. If interested I’ll find out what it’s called. Local decorators merchant made a tester pot on the dulux mixer.

We have Dulux White Mist in our living room. It's a very light grey, slightly lilacy in some lights.

It looks very similar to what PP has mentioned above.

mrsmonkey14 · 20/05/2018 10:14

That’s lovely bouncy yes if you do remember what it’s called that would be great

It’s dulux trade wishbone white on the walls and pure brilliant white on the coving. Two coats on walls. It’s a lovely soft grey and we have it with a soft grey carpet.

Thank you bouncy

Did you try F&B Cornforth White? Pale grey, quite soft, I have it in the spare room.

I have chic shadow in my hallway and spare room. I could post a pic if you like? My hallway is quite dark but but the colour looks great.

I've used Dulux Polished Pebble before. It's a light grey with no lilac undertones.

Davros · 02/06/2018 17:24

We've just used F&B Drop Cloth because I chose it randomly due to free tester pot when buying 4. It's very nice and wasn't on our plan at all.

notangelinajolie · 02/06/2018 17:45

Don't do what I did with Dulux Polished Pebble. The tester pot I bought from B&Q was the perfect colour but I needed a lot of paint so I went to the Dulux Decorator Centre and got them to mix up a big pot. When it dried I was gutted to discover it was not the same and quite blue compared to the tester pot. When I went back to complain I was told that the 'slight' variance is because it isn't mixed in the factory. It cost £80 and it ended up as a very expensive undercoat.

Sirrah · 02/06/2018 18:24

notangelinajolie I'm not sure the premixed polished pebble would have been any better! We had the easycare tester pot, and it looked perfect, so we painted our living room with it. Definitely seems a different colour, more blue, fortunately we still like it but it's not what I expected.

mrsmonkey14 · 23/06/2018 13:31

Hello. OP here, thought it would be polite to come back and let you know what I ended up with!
After rather a lot of tester pots and using up all the kids finger paint paper to paint my samples, I went with the Little Greene Welcome 109 for our south facing loft bedroom. It’s gorgeous!
In our north facing hall and front room we’ve done F&B Blackened, which also looks lovely.

Thanks everyone for your help, much appreciated.
