We're in the process of decorating our hall, stairs and landing. The hall is south facing, has light from the glass panels in the door (quite a lot of glass) and landing has no window, so any light is from bedroom doors left open and from front door at the bottom of the stairs. It's actually quite light. We're having a new carpet, a speckly brown kind of colour.
Am desperately trying to find a light grey with beige undertones. We have similar combination in our living room, but the colour is slightly too dark for the hall. So far, I quite like Egyptian Cotton from dulux, but it's maybe a little too dark or a little too beige.....
Any recommendations???? Please!!!

Egyptian cotton is a beautiful colour
When I was pregnant we spent about a hundred pounds on tester pots, I sat in the nursery sobbing for hours
Wasn't 100% but we were running out of time so we used Egyptian cotton and i fell in love with it straight away!
We moved and we are thinking of doing the hallway in it!
It goes with so many colours aswell!!!

Ah, thank you user. I can sympathise with all the tester pots, though we've not reached the £100 mark yetShock Nice to know you were pleased with it.

Egyptian Cotton is a nice colour, Hicks & Weatherburn's Drystone Wall is similar if a tad lighter. Their Malham Cove, Sulber Nic & Herdwick Grey would be worth a look at www.hicksandweatherburn.co.uk

I found a beautiful “greige” colour for my last house. Will definitely use again. Called Collonade Grey by Sherwin Williams

I'm planning on using wilkos ivory tusk for my bedroom.

We've used Egyptian Cotton in our hall and its definitely more 'light beige' than greige in our house. We have F&B Elephants Breath in the lounge which is similar but have heard lots of people say thats more grey in different lights. We also have Dulux Pebble Shore which is definitely grey (rather than beige) toned and lighter than the others.

Shesaysso · 31/01/2018 21:28

Elephants Breath is a definite greige in my house.

Thank you so much everyone - there's quite a few there to look into. I might hit that £100 tester pot milestone yet Wink
shesays I always thought Elephants Breath could be more lilacy, so had discounted it. Hmmmm....
Back to the shops tomorrow!

F&B skimming stone is a beautiful pale greige

bluesouper · 31/01/2018 22:24

Dulux rum caramel 5 is a dream

We have Nuage - a Leyland trade paint throughout our whole house. It's a warm grey off white. It's perfectly neutral. Really pleased with it.

Another vote for skimming stone f and b, I had it copied ad it's a true greige imo

user1499786242 · 01/02/2018 17:24

It's such a hard decision isn't it?? First world problems I know but still stressful!
We have baby number 2 soon and the tester pots have been bought! Only 3 colours to pick from though as I had to be sensible!
Good luck!

marmitedoughnut · 01/02/2018 19:32

Are you in the UK? Sherwin Williams is not available here yet.

Strongly recommend you look at Benjamin Moore, the paint is far superior to F&B and other so called 'good' paint

I've got Elephants Breath in my sitting room. Not a hint of lilac....definitely greige.

ThankYouGillian · 01/02/2018 22:13

Thanks so much everyone! Lots to consider - I will make some notes.
Bluesheep - how did you get the Skimming Stone copied? I've just picked up a tester and it looks promising, but we need quite a lot of it Shock

User - good luck with baby number 2. It's funny how being busy (e.g with small children) can focus the mind! I think I need to increase my work hours, I obviously have too much time on my hands Grin

Cornforth white by farrow and ball is a lovely warm grey with beige tones.

godricshollow · 02/02/2018 15:30

Surprised that nobody has mentioned Little Greene French Grey yet...

Bluesheep8 · 03/02/2018 08:35

Hi thankyougillian, the decorator got it done but you can go somewhere like b and q or dulux decorator centre to have it mixed. According to the decorator who has worked with f and b paint, skimming stone is the most accurate copy he got done for us. Others we have are clunch, dimity and slipper satin.oh and elephants breath. Skimming stone in the lounge is my favourite. I'll try and post a pic.

Bluesheep8 · 03/02/2018 08:45

Here it is (hopefully!)

Please recommend a 'greige' paint

If you're paying a decorator to put it on, you may as well buy the real thing (F&B, LG, Zoffany, H&W etc). The amount you save on the paint will be peanuts compared to what you're paying the decorator and they may well fob you off with some cheap stuff if you let them get it for you!

Minko8990 · 06/02/2018 06:11

We had skimming Stone colour matched by valspar on the advice of our decorator. It’s wipeable whereas F&B isnt. Also goes on in less coats apparently...and half the price!

CrabappleBiscuit · 06/02/2018 06:30

Would any of these work particularly well in a north facing room with big windows?
