What era would you say this textured beauty is from? Pink with blue splashes. In a bedroom cupboard.

Late 80s, early 90's, without a doubt.

I can even name it - it was called Anaglypta. And you could press your finger nail in it and leave satisfying marks behind.

My nan and grandad had wallpaper like that in their hallway when I was a toddler. I remember this because I liked picking at it and pressing my nails into it. Blush

So do we think definitely from the later 80s or could it be early 80s?

Don't think it was early 80's.

Are you trying to track down some matching rolls?

fwiw it's blown vinyl, not anaglypta - anaglypta was pure paper, no plastic.

I couldn't tell you when it was first introduced but we bought our house in 1983 from an oldish anaglypta-type couple & there was no blown vinyl in it.

We put some up in about 1987-88; I guess it had been around for a while then.

You could pick it with your nails in the study whilst avoiding doing homework. Then get a major bollocking.

My Dad decorated our whole house in this in the late 80s...I remember!

My grandparents moved into their house in 1985, so they decorated in that year or soon after.

at least anaglypta was a brand - used to be paper only - they might have done some blown vinyl later Smile

Oh alright, I stand corrected. Anaglypta was what my gran called it, she had it all over the shop. Definitely mid to late 80s.

Sounds like blown vinyl. I worked in a design factory late 80's and more and more of this shite was brought in which was a bastard to hand reproduce the art work. I left shortly after and still get a twitch so I'm thankful there are no pictures on this app Grin

Anaglypta - the bubble wrap of wallpapers

Even now as an alleged adult, I wouldn't be able to keep my mitts off it Grin

I worked in a wallpaper shop in the early 90s and the books were full of samples very similar to that.

traditional (paper) anaglypta is lovely - I've had a sort of tulip design in my hall/stairs/landing for over 20 years & it will outlast me Smile

It disguises any faults in old plaster & once it's up you can change the colour any time

Bastard blown vinyl. My ex's parents loved it. We moved in together in 2004 and they insisted we buy it as it "looks so nice". Fucking horrible. Nearly as bad as woodchip.
