PLEASE can somebody take pity and help me - where on earth to go in Summer half term with kids aged 11, 9 and 7?

I'm really struggling to find somewhere and am hoping some lovely Mumsnetters can help me narrow things down. Criteria are:

warm enough to swim in may
swimming pool
grouped apartments or villas/gites but not too many
nice gardens to run about in
within 15 min drive of a beach
ideally something else to do on site like tennis/table tennis/boules etc

Any ideas??

oh my heart bleeds

goldenticket · 12/04/2010 22:54

Thanks for that . Some of us aren't very well travelled and can finally afford a week abroad. Sorry for being such a peasant.

Right it's you - I know you've got similar aged kids to me and you've travelled all over the shop, so why not help me rather than being snarky?

oh grr
rumbled
i am in a bad mood tonigh.

right i was thinking.... south of france

db went to a villa in corsica with simpson that was a group

goldenticket · 12/04/2010 23:00

What's put you in a bad mood? I've just watched the Restaurant failures catering for Duncan Bannentyne (sp?) which did for me.

Is the south of France warm enough in May?

God, that looks gorgeous.

I'm after the kind of place that will have some like-minded souls for ds (11) to hang about with (other two are dd's) - if he's happy, we're all happy

Gruissan is lovely and may tick some boxes for you.
There is a great wildlife park nearby too.

Passay · 12/04/2010 23:06

this site in the south might be ok

Ponders · 12/04/2010 23:06

we are going to S of France then & are banking on it being plenty warm enough!

how does this look? pics of shut-up villa not very appealing but complex looks fine

flights to Toulouse, Carcassonne, Perpignan, Montpellier

(no prices given though & apparent availability may be suspect)

goldenticket · 12/04/2010 23:07

I looked at Mousses after seeing a billion threads on here talking about them but got cold feet after some posters said they were good for little kids bit not so good for bigger ones. Had vision of ds surrounded by toddlers hanging off his ankles.

Any Keycamps you can recommend?

Passay · 12/04/2010 23:12

goldenticket · 12/04/2010 23:17

God I did Cap d'Agde for my first holiday with mates aged 17 - tiny caravan and lots of snogging IIRC.

Am serial name-changer but have been around in various guises since 2004

Ste Maxime

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 12/04/2010 23:27

Don't know what your budget is but Nielson are fantastic for kids.
Clubs for all ages and they go off and learn to sail and windsurf (so can you if you want), think they have spas as well now, and you come home totally relaxed.
Turkey would be warm by then I'd think.

Ponders · 12/04/2010 23:32

Nerja, Andalucia (aka Costa del Sol, but it isn't all Torremolinos!)

Flight an extra 45 mins or so, but billions of cheap flights to Malaga, weather normally reliably warm & lovely, car hire much cheaper than France, has a lot going for it.

(Only 2 bedrooms though - 1 would have to sleep on sofabed)

goldenticket · 12/04/2010 23:36

Ooh thanks ponders and ourlady, lots to look at
