FREE - HOLIDAY IN LONDON (Aug 6-20) AT OUR HOUSE

It's that time of year again when we go on holiday to Italy and need someone to water the plants and feed the goldfish while we are gone. Last year two different lovely mumsnetter families came and stayed in our house while we were gone and had a great time.
We have a really nice large house which is, of course, child friendly. It's a no pet, non-smoking house.
All you have to do is water the plants every day and cover the cost of the cleaner once a week.
We're gone Aug 6 - 20.
Any takers?

i would have considered it if you had a muscley gardener - about 19 years old - who likes to garden with shirt off.

misdee · 25/07/2005 19:59

Acton to harefield? anyone know?

bumpylump · 25/07/2005 20:18

hi, have just checked with DP (who's still on the motoway, bless 'im) we'd love to do the first week, if your happy with splitting the time up? It would be a lovely break for us in the big smoke

NotQuiteCockney · 25/07/2005 20:22

What a lovely idea, SofiaAmes. We're already in London, and away then. But ... can I ask ... what is your kitchen counter made of? Very pretty ...

ok, here I am.
Looks like bumpylump is doing the first week and giraffeski the second. Why don't you both CAT me and we can organize details.
www, the house is big enough you could probably stay too if it is close enough to be helpful to you if bumpylump and giraffeski don't have dozens of children each!!

NQC, the kitchen countertops are terrazzo (the real stuff). They are hands down my favority countertops I've ever had. They never ever look dirty.

OK, I've redone the photo album name so my address isn't showing, which breaks the link.
Here the new link:

WOW! Your house is absolutely beautifull - I am very jealous!

chicagomum · 25/07/2005 21:38

lovely house but the address is still visible on a couple of the photos

magnolia1 · 25/07/2005 21:45

Oh wow!!!
Dh says no
I think he is worried I might get to like such a nice house

sis · 25/07/2005 21:50

Oh it is just as lovely as I remember it!

dot1 · 25/07/2005 22:12

Arrggghhh!!!!! We've just been let down by someone in London and were looking for somewhere to stay from August 6th - 8th!!! I know it's probably too short a period of time, but if it's available can you let me know?! (was trying to cheer myself up with a quick Mumsnet blast!)

tatt · 26/07/2005 06:39

wow. Missed this, unfortunately and its too late for me this year. However if you're going next year I'll be first in the queue

noddyholder · 26/07/2005 07:28

Could you keep me in mind if you ever need someone again xx

WideWebWitch · 26/07/2005 07:31

Thanks sofia, I'll look at the journey and see. You 2, would you mind sharing with me? We'd be fighting over the pc/mumsnet of course, har har! I assume you have broadband Sofia?

dejags · 26/07/2005 07:39

Sofia,

Wow what a beautiful house! We are coming to the UK but later on in the year . Can't you postpone till later on in the year [hopeful].

If you ever want a holiday swap, we'd be more than happy. We have a 6 bed house in Cape Town which is gorgeous too.

bea · 26/07/2005 08:41

Ye GAds SofiaAmes.. what a gorgeous house!!!! how do you keep it clean??? i think i really am the worst housekeeper in the world, not to mention our clutter and mismatched furniture!!!!

Does everyone have a house where all their furniture and wood matches????

feeling depressed now... at my lack of style, cleanliness and organisation!!!!!

ebbie22 · 26/07/2005 09:04

Keep me in mind for next year, its lovely, though that doesnt do it justice...

SofiaAmes · 26/07/2005 09:31

Sorry ladies, but the house is up for sale/rent and we are off to California on sept 1. BUT I do have an equally lovely house in la, so we can always do the same again there!

Dejags, CAT me with your info and when you are going to be in the uk and if we don't have tenants or buyers at the time I'd be happy to help out.

bea, CLEANER CLEANER CLEANER. And if you look carefully, none of the furniture is matching. The secret is to just have nice thought out things. They don't have to match and they don't have to be expensive. Most of the furniture in my house was bought 2nd hand. And of course it is a handy that my dh is a builder and when I want something a little different, I can use my womanly ways to bully him into making it for me.

bumpylump is having second thoughts, so the first week may be up for grabs still.
dot1, we may be able to help you out after all.

Twiglett, sorry missed your post earlier. We have an "invisible" splashback behind our hob. There is supposed to be one, but I am still waiting for dh to make it. I think that there is more than one rotten potato behind there as I've accidentally sent a few down the gap...
