I work for 50 weeks a year.

I have a week in August (booked Southwold)

And a week (or just over) in December from 24th til the day before they go back to school 2nd (Tues - I think)

Would like reasonably warm, prepared to spend a bit

Help.....

You might struggle with availability in August (peak time, and you are late booking). We booked yesterday and our options were limited. Managed to find a villa in the Algarve - not our first choice, but looks pleasant enough.

How come your holiday entitlement is so rubbish (just 2 weeks per year)?

We also booked our holiday via Thomas Cook (we were being lazy and don't have time to do a lot of the leg work ourselves)

I'm looking for December and only get 2 weeks cos S/E and would loose too much income

That's like my dh - he will only take a fortnight off for that reason (also SE).

Oh yes - just read your post again - have now noticed that you've said you've already booked the August week. Doh!

sarahu lives in phuket so she may be able to help you find a good deal, and come to think of it i know someone who has a lovely house to rent privately in phuket, 5 min drive from the beach i am staying at, it's beautiful, huge, think it has a pool, and reasonably priced. WOuld you like me to email them?

The hotels in Mauritius are fab - all have free childcare and teenage clubs, and lots of watersports which are free, too - as well as trips in glass bottom boats etc etc.
Very multicultural island.

Sri Lanka is desperate for people to return there - there are some absolutely lovely hotels on the island, including boutique style hotels, private villas with staff and other luxury hotels like The Beach and Spa in Negombo, and the Lighthouse in Galle. cheap when there, great for the lovely people and amazign culture, amazing wildlife and nature reserves. direct flights with Sri Lankan airlines, you'd have to speak to GP about jabs, but no more need for jabs than anywhere else in S E Asia.

I really fancy the Nile cruise - thank you all for such great info and advise - but the Nile seems such a good idea

On a ship there will be a kids club and plenty of culture/history if DD wants
Also lots of food
Shorter flight
No innoculations
Less time difference
(and cheaper)

Thanks again everyone
KMc

Ooh, Nile cruise - wonderful! I can't wait to take our boys when they are old enough. We went pre-kids and it was fantastic, despite being mid August (so hot, the sweat evaporated immediately from the skin).

Enjoy

Puff are the ships very crowded?

I can get claustrophobic (slightly) and DH is a bit concerned

It didn't seem crowded to me KM, but we went in August when only the mad would go to Egypt !

Katymac · 11/07/2005 23:49

I'll do a bit more research I think

Thanks again everyone
