Travel Highchair

Hello
Can anyone recommend a good travel highchair? Ideally it could fit in a suitcase! We have a 7 month old boy who is a real wriggler!! Thanks

We have something a bit like this one althoughs ours do not swivel. They are great as light and easy to transport (we have twins so really don't want to take proper big chairs around with us).

Only problem is they wont screw onto every table (but are fine on most).

hang n seat

This is similar to one I carry around in the car boot with me, but it's a lot cheaper than mine(can't remember the name of my one). Will see if I can find it for you. It's great and the only draw back I have found is that you can't remove the straps to wash them.

EldonAve · 27/04/2009 13:02

We have a baboz fabric one

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 13:03

here it is The Handysitt

cornflakegirl · 27/04/2009 13:17

We have a Handysitt, and they are great. Don't fit every restaurant chair - some chair backs are just too high, but ours has been really useful for visits to grandparents etc. They're very light and pack pretty much flat.

andiem · 27/04/2009 13:19

I have a handysitt as well and love it I think it is a bit safer than the ones you screw onto the table

cornflakegirl · 27/04/2009 13:20

(I'm sure they were nowhere near that expensive when we bought ours though - maybe £50. I'd maybe go for a second-hand one - ours is about 4 years old, and like new.)

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 13:53

Yes they are £49.99

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 13:57

'Mine' actually belongs to my friend and she bought it 7 years ago at the Baby show(one of them)in London and it was £50 then.

I have been known to pile telephone diectories under it to support the bottom when the seats are too tall at the back. It's ok as long as you keep an eye. Also, if the backs of chairs are oval/rounded, they can slip off.

They are adjustable though Loolallama, so do go fairly high/long anyway.

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 14:00

Should say that they were £49.99 in a shop called Katies Playpen last year. So it must be possible to still find them for around that price? Failing that, the first link I put on here is a similar seat for £29.99.

cornflakegirl · 27/04/2009 14:02

Didn't notice that one Solo - I'd actually probably go with that - not so hung up on wood that I wouldn't save £20!

Tommy · 27/04/2009 14:23

we've got this one booster seat. It's really good - I would recommend it completely. It deflates down to quite flat so would fit into suitcase no problem (and it's lighter than a wooden one!)

Loolallama · 27/04/2009 14:28

Hello
Thanks so much for advic everyone!! That's a massive help. Love the look of the Handysitt but can only find them for 75 plus. Will have to try ebay but am rubbish et it and always seem to be outbid!! If not will try the hang n sit.
Thanks a million
x

Thanks Tommy - does yours attach to a chair?

OP posts:
cornflakegirl · 27/04/2009 14:49

Loolallama - our friends have got one like that. They do attach (think you can see the strap on the back near the top. But they don't boost as high as a normal booster seat (so better for an older child imo), and they can be a pain to keep clean - stuff gets in the crevices and you can't take them apart to clean properly. (Probably not such a thing if it's only for adhoc use though - my friends use theirs every day.)

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 14:52

Loolallama what area(ish)are you?

Loolallama · 27/04/2009 16:23

Thanks cornflakegirl

Is this any good for you?
this
Have used this for both my children (the youngest being a wriggler too) and it is great.

nappyaddict · 27/04/2009 16:35

The only problem with the handysitt is they outgrow it quite quickly. DS did by the age of about 2.

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 16:59

Ok, so you are not nearby me then. That's no good.

You could maybe ask on Freecycle, even if it was just to borrow something suitable? worth a try.

cornflakegirl · 27/04/2009 17:27

nappyaddict - we didn't find that at all. We used it with DS till he was 3.5 - and he's tall and pretty hefty. Although I guess it depends on the design of the dining table - how high their knees can go before they hit something.

cornflakegirl · 27/04/2009 17:30

Nellie - I'm always confused when I see something like the totseat. I get that it stops them escaping - but aren't they still too low to reach the table properly? Or am I missing something?

Tommy · 27/04/2009 17:34

yes - ours does attach to a chair - straps go underneath and behind. We bought it for a caravan holiday last year and now always take it when he go to other houses for dinner or whatever

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 27/04/2009 18:54

I thought that too cornflakegirl. I wondered if you would still need to prop baby up with a cushion or two under their bottoms.

I don't find the HandySitt size a problem either. Dd is very tall for her age(2 but as tall as a 3yo)and so far so good.
