and would like to share it with me? and [anal retentive emoticon]

[lazy emoticon]

Of the driving to France with lots of kiddy kit kind. The kind of kit I can't possibly forget otherwise we're gonna have to drive back 800 miles or spend a HUGE amount of Euros replacing pushchairs etc.

And while I'm on... Best exchange rate gamble please? Buy some Euros now? Wait a coupla weeks? Buy em in France?

Ta. Now if you could just come over and actually DO my packing I'll lick your face.

I don't have a list. I panic a lot. Perhaps this thread could revolutionize my life. Just about to make my virgin hot holiday list.

ellerman · 24/03/2009 13:26

For me, I have a list of what we need for our very rural Scottish Holidays, where we rarely find garlic, ginger and spices in the small local shop cum Post office. Also wet day activity stuff. The biggest problem without a list is the constant interuptions that break your train of thought...a list helps avoid that.

mm22bys · 24/03/2009 14:16

I've got a list (I guess it is a spreadsheet as it's on Excel, so much easier to use than Word), two actually - one for summer holidays and one for winter holidays. It's not complete though, I am sure each holiday I end up adding the same things.

I find it's essential though... (and I am not a list person!)

mm22bys · 24/03/2009 14:41

OK, just read rest of thread. My attempts are pathetic. 31 lists?

We are going to Australia for an indefinite period on Friday and I have so many lists, but thanks to this thread I've just now done one of the most important things that is actually on all my lists - get DS1 and DS2 added to travel insurance!

I also put all my docs in the order I think we'll need them. Didn't really work last time as we had booked the car for the day after we arrived in Grenoble.

Not too worried though as so long as we get ourselves to the airport on time with our passports we can get everything we need wherever we go (generally...).

Lancelottie · 24/03/2009 14:41

I think I need a 'WTF to leave out so there's room for the kids' list.

Somehow our finely judged art of packing forgot to allow for the fact that children GROW, so every year there's less and less room in the boot.

I didn't get it bunnyrabbit - busy mamama @ gmail dot com (no gaps, obviously)

Thanks!

EustaciaVye · 25/03/2009 19:23

Thanks bunnyrabbit. Just had to dig it out of my spam folder but it looks great.

wiggletastic · 25/03/2009 20:23

Bunnyrabbit, please, please could I have a copy too? I am a list virgin and just about to go on holiday with DD for the first time and after reading this thread am having a major panic about forgetting loads of vitally essential gear!! - eleanor @ elle dot org dot uk.

bunnyrabbit · 26/03/2009 10:34

Superbunny I resent it to you. Let me know if you got it.

Left some more personal things on there from when I was BFing and just after birth but thought they might be useful and we are all adults... well physically if not mentally.

Wiggletastic. Will send to you as soon as I go back into my hotmail.

It's not exactly perfect and there are repetitions and some older stuff but I find it useful for cut and pasting as I make a new list for every trip.

SuperBunny · 26/03/2009 23:30

Got it, thank you Bunny. It's a great list - very comprehensive.

Am v impressed and am a bit disappointed that I am going out now - I'd quite like to stay home a fiddle with it but I will save that for the weekend.

As you can see, I lead a most exciting life

SuperBunny · 26/03/2009 23:32

I love that swords are a vital part of your holiday!

wiggletastic · 27/03/2009 07:39

Its fabby! Although DH doesn't seem quite so impressed. He started muttering under his breath (bad words!) and went off for another glass of wine when I showed it to him. Not sure what his objection is and not going to ask.

bunnyrabbit · 27/03/2009 11:31

Glad you got it wiggle.

LOL yes swords and at the moment transformers.

We're not away again until the beginning of May, by which time no doubt this will have changed. However, I believe swords will be a vital part of our luggage for at least another 6 or 7 years (DS2 is not quite 1 year). We seem to collect a new one every time we got to a castle, which is quite often.

CaurnieBred · 27/03/2009 15:21

Loving the Pivot chart idea - not tried that one yet. I am not a list person per se, but find I do need to make lists for going on holiday. Otherwise I dither and dither about what to pack. With a list it is much easier, plus I can delegate DD's packing to DH (which otherwise he would refuse to do in case he missed something out and it would be "his fault").
