We're thinking of doing a short 4 night break here in March. Would love to hear people's exp of the site and the surrounding area. We'll be going with our 3yr and 1year old sons.

Hi Ruby, did you have a good time? Is there an indoor play area? What was the children's club like - was there decent play equip/toys etc? What was good to go to for days out? TIA

Thanks Ruby. Is there not a beach near Wild Duck then? We'll be in our car.

Great Yarmouth is a typical seaside resort - a bit tacky and full of tat shops.

You could venture further along the coast to Southwold which is lovely.

gorleston is your nearest beach, which is where I grew up. It is lovely. Prob be very quiet and desserted in March, but lovely for a walk.
There is a big indoor soft play in gorleston too if you get a wet day, off englands lane called House of Fun. Or in Lowestoft there is a rtather nice coffee place/restaurant on the seafront in what looks like a giant greenhouse which also has a soft play.

if you are plannign on visiting the broads, Oulton Broad was a favourite of mine with toddlers. There is a nice park on the side of it, for the kids, and often motorboats to watch too. Mine used to love it, the park, a boating lake, feedign the ducks, etc.

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 12:28

you can easily do lowestoft in a mornign then on to oulton broad in the afternoon, it's jsut past lowestoft.

fab! Looks like there is lots to do to fill four days - we plan to spend one of them at the dinosaur park - is it far?

OP posts:
ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 12:31

about 25 miles.

It's not actuailyl that good. We were dissapointed. Make sure you take wellies - it gets very muddy there.

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 12:32

disappointed

Fimbo · 15/01/2009 12:32

Transport Museum

It would probably take over an hour maybe more depending on traffic to get to the Dinosaur Park.

Africa Alive is run by the same people and will be closer I would think - will find link.

Holymoly321 · 15/01/2009 12:32

good tip chops. Ds1 is mad on dinosaurs tho so would prob love it anyway!

THanks again. What about Thriby Hall Safari Park (i think that's what it's called). Is it far and is it good?

Ruby did you not think the Sea Life Centre was a bit well grim? The cafe area is grotty.

Fimbo · 15/01/2009 12:36

You could do this Museum on a wet day.

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 12:37

africa alive is very good, but a lot of walkign for very little ones.

thrigby is perfect for toddlers as it is quite compact and just a good size for them to see it without getting bored. Mine loved the monkey walks. Thrigby is quite close too, prob abt 6 miles maybe?
