We're thinking of doing a short 4 night break here in March. Would love to hear people's exp of the site and the surrounding area. We'll be going with our 3yr and 1year old sons.

Don't be sorry I thought it was me being snobby!

Fritton Lake part of this is supposed to be good although I have never actually been

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 12:44

not sure I would go to fritton lake in winter. It's lovely on a hot day with a picnic and lots of strolling around.

That's reminded me actualyl of petitts - another animal park. It's in reedham, not far, and has lots of animals and things to do for children. They have a little indoor area in the event of bad weather too.

We do occasionally get nice weather in March

Holymoly321 · 15/01/2009 12:47

you guys are fantastic! That's the great thing about toddlers - they aren't too fussy! As long as there is something interesting to look at/do they are happy (and therefor sor are we!). If you can think of any other places for a toddler that are no more than an hour away from Wild Duck I will be more than happy to hear about them! Esp as the chances of it being sunny and warm are minimal!

Chops do you still live in Norfolk?

My ds loves the snails at Joyland

Fimbo · 15/01/2009 12:51

Lowestoft website

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 13:02

ooh the snails. I love them!! And the tubs!

I moved away 4-5 years ago. I still go back regularly though, and get very nostalgic whenever I see people talking about it!

Fimbo · 15/01/2009 13:05

He is pleased to now be 5 so he can go on them on his own!

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 13:10

But that means you don't get to go!! It's amazing they are still running. I can remember going on them when I was a child and being desperate to be big enough to go on the tubs. I'm probably taking my lot up there in the summer.

Fimbo · 15/01/2009 13:16

Dh refuses to go to Gt Yarmouth in the summer, so I have to take the dc on the train. My two love it.

Had a quick peek on the Joyland website, it opened in 1949!!

My friend and I used to love the wooden rollercoaster at the Pleasure Beach too.

You wouldn't believe I am from Scotland would you? . I spent many holidays in Gt Y though and now live in Norwich!

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 13:20

wow, i assumed you grew up there!

I'd quite like to move back, but not sure if I could cope with it any more. I'd miss being close to London, the lack of multiculturism, etc.

I've always loved the seafront, though it is tacky and so busy in summer. My brother and I used to go to Pleasurebeach each year when they started the wristbands thing, and sneak fish and chips onto the monorail and eat them going round!
