Taking overnight oats, yoghurt and chia pudding through Bristol airport security

Mummyslittlegiraffe · Yesterday 15:11

Has anyone taken overnight oats, yoghurt over 100ml or chia pudding through the new airport security? I’m flying from Bristol, so know they have relaxed the 100ml rule for hand luggage, but can’t find anything about this sort of food.

They would now after everything that happened
In fact, pret would probably be your safest bet

It’s still a no.

Pret! Nobody with an allergy would buy food at Pret. Especially not in an airport.

This with bells on!

Never ever ever.

I tried to do just that at Gatwick and they chucked it in their bin. Yoghurt counts as a liquid and the whole overnight oats thing can’t go through their liquid analyser so even if you are allowed liquids, they have to be clear.

They don't have to be clear. Moisturiser isn't clear, conditioner isn't clear, ,sun cream isn't clear, toothpaste isn't clear (yes, I know there's currently a thread about Colgate).

which ones in the uk don’t now allow 2 ltrs?

I flew from Newcastle but I thought it was only a few airports who have changed to 2l rather than only a few that haven’t to be honest. I’ve also flown from Heathrow this year and they obviously have changed over.

So Newcastle didn’t allow it?

Me too. 🙄 fortunately we had a small one in the epipen bag. You can only take a proper bottle with a prescription, it’s nothing to do with whether it’s open.

Based on past experiences with Bristol airport, no I wouldn't unless I fanced a full body pat down and my hand luggage emptied in front of everyone.

was fine at Birmingham but not at Glasgow

Well no, that’s what I am saying. According to .gov these airports may allow you 2l bit its not a guarantee. Birmingham, Bristol , Gatwick, Edinburgh, Heathrow, teeside, and Belfast.

These airports still have the 100ml rule. Aberdeen, Bournemouth, Cardiff, East Midlands, Glasgow (both of them),Inverness, Cardiff, Isle of Man, Leeds Bradford,Newcastle, Norwich and Southampton.

So most of them.

That’s all I asked… which airports didn’t
thanks for clarifying

They still prepare in an open kitchen so cross contamination is always a risk that someone with coeliac or severe allergies can't be prepared to take.

so Never eat out or buying any food item from a place like Pret whatsoever?

bothydreamer · Yesterday 18:22

I do this all the time in Edinburgh which now has the new gen scanners, which I assume Bristol has too? Totally fine. Tripped a scanner once, and the guy even said 'overnight oats?' I'm a frequent flyer and wouldn't waste my money on those tiny Pret pots when I want a proper breakfast! Fine for a snack but expensive. I just take an old jam jar then rinse and recycle. Easy.

Not when you are going on an aeroplane.

I feel like people are saying perfectly normal things in this thread and then you are cross examining them.

When I told you I had flown from Newcastle, why did you feel the need to ask if they ‘didn’t allow it’ when that was the entire point of what I was saying?

No person with an allergy or with a child who has a child with an allergy is going to buy food from Pret in an airport before going on a flight.

For some people, that's life, yes.

I took opened calpol in hand luggage in Bristol recently. They tested it and let me through with it.

Crumbylentil · Yesterday 15:37

Have you flown this year?
They have eased up security massively
2 litres of liquid and nothing needs to be taken out of luggage
it’s brilliant!!

It still varies by airport.

AgnesMcDoo · Yesterday 18:43

Luton don’t allow.

And London City

Nopenousername · Yesterday 18:49

And London City

Isn’t Luton the only London airport that DOES allow it? Stansted does not but I thought Luton had the new scanners?
