Peppa Pig World or Legoland

4.5 year has asked if we can go, it would only be to one of them. For those that have been, which would you say is better for whatever reasons?

Would likely try and book a night close-ish but budget. Any recommendations gratefully received!

If Paultons, stay Premier Inn at Southampton Airport it is just off M27 so easy access to Paultons and the motorway.

LadyGAgain · 05/08/2026 06:12

PPW is amazing. Lego land is tired and we were very unimpressed TBH.

HeatwaveHoratio · 05/08/2026 06:17

There’s a hotel very close to Paultons but loads around the cruise port in Southampton about 20 minutes away which would give you lots more options for food.

DitzyDerbyBabe86 · 05/08/2026 06:21

Legoland is 💩

PolkaDotPorridge · 05/08/2026 06:34

I loathe Legoland. It’s better in good weather obviously but I have never liked it and would never go back. Not even with our grandchildren when they’re old enough. Not been to Paultons park for a long long time but it was always good so I imagine it’s even better now.

principalskinna · 05/08/2026 06:43

I've done both this year (teacher)

PEPPAPIG all the way

principalskinna · 05/08/2026 06:43

And they let you go back to the car to get picnics

itsgettingweird · 05/08/2026 06:45

Paultons at 4.5. We had seasons tickets from when ds was 3 until 6 as we are local.

From 7yo we had leholand season tickets as he’s a huge LEGO fan. Legoland is great but not so many small rides and they really need to be into LEGO and want to spend hours ages looking at it.

If you’re looking at staying over in a hotel Romney Rapids is local and another good activity so you can make a monk break of it.

Alternatively New Forest park or just visiting New Milton or Lepe country park and the beach.

principalskinna · 05/08/2026 06:58

Or moors valley which is lovely

I love Paultons but my answer would entirely depend on WHEN.

If you’re going in high season I’d say Paultons, because the queues at Legoland ruin it. If you can go off peak - say on an inset day in September - I’d say Legoland. Simply because Legoland rides are not much fun above age 6 or 7 imo whereas there are good rides at Paultons when the kids are older so you could easily do that when dc is 9+ years old.

If you do decide to stay at Legoland I recommend staying in Wokingham town centre premier inn. It is about 30 min drive to Legoland and next to a park with a playground, lots of nice restaurants, and an Aldi adjacent. A family room is often <£50 a night (plus £5 for WiFi and cost of parking if you need that).

I went to Legoland on an inset day after half term this year and it was so busy that for the first time ever, DS asked to leave just after lunch. Hour ling queues.

Paulton’snall the way.

TweetTwewt · 04/08/2026 20:12

Agree with all the above. Unless you go on a random rainy school day the Legoland queues are horrendous and they have no entertainment.

Also, your DC is unlikely to like Peppa for much longer, so make the most of this stage!

They have shows at LEGO Land!

Doyoumisswordpaperclip · 05/08/2026 07:34

Another vote for Paultons! Take swimwear as they have two splash parks. Lots of places to sit and have a picnic if you want to save cash.

We live close to legoland and have been 3 times - we still havent managed all rides due to the queues. It's also quite run down in places and very few places to sit if you take your own food. Car park is a bloody nightmare.

I prefer the longer drive and extra cost for Paultons, it's just a much better day out.

notanothergecko · 05/08/2026 07:52

Paultons was a brilliant day out. So much better than Legoland.

TweetTwewt · 05/08/2026 08:26

Roulette29 · 05/08/2026 07:02

They have shows at LEGO Land!

Oh, I thought they'd stopped them. Went at easter and they had nothing.

Dozer · 05/08/2026 11:43

My DC really enjoyed an overnight stay at a hotel for Paulton’s, was premier inn or similar, they seemed well set up for DC visiting for that purpose.

Treetreetreetree · 05/08/2026 11:44

Peppa Pig World.

principalskinna · 05/08/2026 13:13

A mates daughter was peppa for a bit
met Christina Aguilera, who was a bitch

notwittywithusernames · 05/08/2026 20:42

Thank you for all the positive comments, Paultons/Peppa is booked and two nights in a Premier Inn. She squealed so much when I told her it was done. Now just the week and a half of her asking if we go today....🤣

Secretly glad not Lego - cant stand the stuff and I know my bank account would be RINSED in the shops for what she needs and is her favourite!

Paulton Park. We go every year for my youngest birthday. It clean, is not crowded, the kids can go on most of the rides and there is lots of other stuff to do as well.

We actually have merlin passes and do all the theme parks but PP is my children's absolute favourite.

mumofsevenfluffs · 05/08/2026 20:48

Paultons park staying at sandy balls half hour up the road. Both brilliant places

CoodleMoodle · 05/08/2026 20:56

Paultons is definitely the right choice! We go every year, there's something for every age. My 12 and 8yos still love it as much as they did when they were little. DH and I always have a great time as well. Whenever we go to a different theme park we all sort of wish we'd gone to PP instead!

nothingcangowrongnow · 05/08/2026 21:31

I didn’t like Paultons but Thomas Land at Drayton manor is good and we liked the rest of the park which includes a small zoo

notwittywithusernames · 15/08/2026 08:11

Well I've had a week ish of do we go today do we go today (on repeat!), have extended the premier inn for another night, its the one just off the m27 as recommended up thread, Thank you) and as she asked to go to the seaside have tickets to the aquarium in Bournemouth. Bit of driving but I dont mind, gives us time to chat.

So today she will be having a sleepover with nanny and pappy, i have time to get the packing done without any 'helpful' hands and then off we go on our jolly very soon

Thank you all for your comments about experiences of both ☺️

You may need to abandon the Bournemouth plan due to the A31 closure (due to wildfire damage) - definitely check routes before setting out.
Instead you could try New Forest Wildlife Park, or Longdown Activity Farm.
Or go across to to the Blue Reef Aquarium at Portsmouth. (Though M27 isn't an enjoyable road.)

Failing that there is Romsey Rapids, and we have a nice small playground in Memorial park.

Oh you'll have the best time! We went last week and it was really great! We liked Legoland but loved Paulton's Park. The staff at Paulton's Park were nicer and the rides were better staffed. It is also beautifully maintained, and the queues are shorter and feel better designed. There are so many rides and some great shows too! Oh and dont forget to pack swim things as the puddle park is great!
