Inflammatory question but can you use a Nicorette inhalator on a plane?

I’m going on a very long haul flight and currently trying to stop vaping using the inhaler.

As it doesn’t emit a vapour etc can it be used on a plane?

The airline only states that vapes cannot be used, for obvious reasons, and doesn’t mention the inhalators.

Anyone have any knowledge?

Well I have and never had an issue

Isgooglebroken · 08/07/2026 15:22

If you start to type that question into Google the answer comes up immediately, along with advice.
I don’t understand why MN is a first choice to ask things like this

DreadedInn · 08/07/2026 15:23

I always do this yes.

@Isgooglebrokenbecause the answers are not consistent on Google

Don't do it when any crew can see you, just in case they think it's a vape.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 08/07/2026 15:35

@oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriendsbut does that matter if it’s allowed?

Ring the airline and ask

Catsandbooksaremybag · 08/07/2026 15:42

I would say yes, as there is no flame, vapour, smell or emissions from it, nor does it contain a battery. Google search says the same.

Agreed. I was on a flight where this happened to someone.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 08/07/2026 15:46

@Darragon eeek! That’s my fear. How embarrassing 🙈

I believe it depends on the airline. I believe you cannot use one on a Virgin Atlantic flight for example. You should read the FAQ pages of the airline you are flying with. You could also have the issue that staff just think it’s a normal vape.

Have you never read a MN thread before? 😀

7238SM · 08/07/2026 16:52

Have you considered using patches instead so you have consistent nicotine rather than a sneaky hit every so often?

twiddlingthumbs69 · 08/07/2026 16:58

@7238SM that was going to be my back up plan

exLtEveDallas · 08/07/2026 17:21

DH has always used one, numerous flights, numerous airlines. He's pretty obvious about it as well - if anyone says anything you just say that it's NRT, same as patches.

walkingmyway · 08/07/2026 17:24

You could do patches and lozenges?

Yes, in case they don't know the difference.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 08/07/2026 21:31

Just asked emirates. They don’t know either. They have no policy on them and say it’s up to the discretion of the cabin crew 🤔

OP posts:
Indaloo · 08/07/2026 21:33

Of course you can. If anyone says anythig you just explain its nicotine replacement not a vape or cig

why not try it now before your flight?

I think using the patches would also help you break the habit of 'using' something.

Well, that's helpful.

NOT

twiddlingthumbs69 · 08/07/2026 21:49

@FWC2026. Yes, you’re right. I’ll get some now to try. I feel like I’m trying to find a way to smuggle illegal goods 😂

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 08/07/2026 21:51

You could always use it in the toilet. If it doesn't emit a vapour it won't set off the smoke alarm.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 08/07/2026 21:59

Ring an airline! For this! It’s undoubtedly on their website.
