Quiet Dublin accommodation

Hi, I think I’m looking for a Unicorn.

We are attending and event in Dublin for 2 nights at a weekend and need 2 double rooms and 2 single rooms. 6 adults. The 2 singles can’t share a twin.

We want to see Dublin but also have an event in Gormanston.

Mostly we want something quiet. Thought we had found it but reviews say lots of traffic noise in centre.

If we stay outside the centre taxis are looking at over £250 for the weekend.

Anyone local or who have been recommend anywhere?

If you are at something in Gormonston would you stay in the Citynorth hotel itself? I can only assume this is where your event is as Gormonston (Meath not Dublin) has very few venues :) There is a coach right outside that hotel that can bring you into dublin city centre within about 30-40 mins depending on the times you leave.

Similarly if you wanted to stay in dublin city and commute to Gormonston you could book The academy hotel which is just off o connell street and the coach goes from directly outside there to Julianstown where the citynorth hotel is. Gormonston is not far from there which is why I am using that as a focal point as such.

Letsgetreadytorhumble · 16/06/2026 09:08

The coach incidentally goes from dublin city centre out towards meath not specifically gormonston itself but not far and it is 20euro per adult return or 18 with a leap card. Teens are 8euro return if that is any help at all.

Letsgetreadytorhumble · 16/06/2026 09:09

If you want to pm me actual names of hotels feel free as I know the area fairly well :)

BettyscakeShop · 16/06/2026 09:37

Thank you. I looked at the city north hotel but it appears to be dorm rooms which are just not suitable.

I will look up the academy hotel.

thanks the info in the buses is really helpful.

I thought booking this would be simple - hard when you don’t know the area and your guests have specific needs!!

Actually another fairly quiet hotel about 7-10 mins from the citynorth is The glenside hotel and is also close to that bus/coach.
Rooms - The Glenside Hotel

Dublin city centre has hundreds of hotels but it being the city it would be that bit noisier.

Rooms - The Glenside Hotel

We take pride in offering a variety of beautifully appointed rooms that provide a perfect blend of comfort and elegance.

BettyscakeShop · 16/06/2026 12:40

You are right! I got it mixed up. It’s pretty expensive (but then everything is!).

The Glenside has no availability on my dates.

Thank you for your advice.

What do you think of here?

That just brings me to a whole list of hotels! Is it dublin city centre you want to be in? Central like?

watchingthishtread · 16/06/2026 13:27

When you say quiet, are you looking for something in the countryside? Roganstown hotel is quiet and is about halfway between the city centre and Gormanstown. It's not on public transport.

Gormanstown is on the Dublin/Drogheda train line. Perhaps you could stay somewhere like Malahide or Portmarnock which would allow you access to the DART into the city and the commuter train to Gormanstown.

It’s more quiet as in no noisy traffic or over pubs. Doesn’t have to be countryside.

I will look at those options @watchingthishtread thank you. It’s so much easier getting help from those with knowledge!

Bath avenue is a lovely area.

palana · 16/06/2026 19:08

I stayed in the Grand Hotel Malahide a couple of years ago. Was great. The little town of Malahide is a seaside delight, with a castle and lovely walks, cafes, pubs, restaurants etc.

The DART goes into the city from there so it's very handy. I'm not sure, but I think the commuter line stops at Malahide and serves places near Gormanstown. Others will know.

Letsgetreadytorhumble · 16/06/2026 19:21

Yes you get off at Malahide and there is a train that goes from there to Gormonston and further up that way etc.

Miyagi99 · 16/06/2026 19:25

It’s a city, maybe take silicone earplugs? That’s what I use if I stay in London, those or charge up my cozi and fall asleep to an audiobook!

Normally would but due to disability and playing in a tournament really want to minimise sleep issues as far as we can.

The citynorth is not dorm rooms? They are a hotel with the usual single, double, deluxe and family rooms : Accommodation Meath | CityNorth Hotel, Meath

Id give this one a swerve, it’s a hotel in the
middle of nowhere, nothing but fields around it, by the main Belfast Dublin motorway. Handy for Gormanston but a bit too far out from Dublin city.

This is a lovely area and easy access to city centre but it’s on south side of the city whereas Gormanston is north of Dublin, look in areas on the train line north of the city - Malahide, Howth. Sutton al lovely villages and easy access to the city and Gormanston.

BettyscakeShop · 16/06/2026 20:55

I think there is stuff going on the weekend I’m going as looked at all those places and just nothing in budget. All over £2k.

Is Dalkey a contender? It’s the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel.

again a lovely area, but it’s south Dublin and a good 70 kms or so from Gormanston - your giving your self a good 1.5hrs or so travel to Gormanston.
What weekend is it ?

palana · 16/06/2026 21:00

Is there anything in Drogheda, that's a big town further North and has train connections back down to Gormanstown as said by pp about the commuter line. I was looking at the map and thought of it.

I will look at Drogheda

The Village Hotel | Boutique Hotel in Bettystown, Co Meath

Small quiet hotel near Gormonston and near transport. I would avoid Drogheda if possible. I am not even sure there are any hotels there now anyway as the one they had is now an iPass and there is really nothing in Drogheda now either.

Citynorth to be fair nothing there just that bit quicker into Dublin and closer to the airport.

The Village Hotel | Boutique Hotel in Bettystown, Co Meath

The Village Hotel is a 16-bedroom hotel, just a few minutes away from Bettystown Beach in County Meath. Our boutique hotel offers the perfect base for romantic escapes, family breaks, or festive weekends by the sea.

Fully booked! It’s actually a bit mad. I’ve googled and can’t see that much going on!

im actually considering the Dublin airport premier inn as at least it’s got rooms available!
