If you were staying in a small fairly rural Airbnb- one large lounge kitchen, bedroom, bathroom - and the kitchen had a double hob and air fryer but no oven would you think that was okay?
it would be clear in the description.

Fine so long as I know in advance.

I have a few double occupancy holiday lets as well as a couple of single occupancy ones (the most popular)
In the majority of them, due to size, I have an airfryer, a 3 ring hob and a combi oven (microwave/grill/oven).
It's made very clear in the listing and I've only ever had one couple who questioned it - they had brought a HUGE assembled but uncooked lasagne that was in a HUGE roasting tin, the plan was to cook and have it last them the 4 days they were staying!!! the tin was too big to fit in the oven. I just brought it to mine and cooked it for them.

If everything else was top notch I wouldn't discount it.
Assuming it's just for a couple I wouldn't have a problem with two rather than four rings on the hob but I would miss an oven.
If I'm in the UK on holiday I like to take a couple of ready meals with me and they are usual cooked in the oven rather than "ping" meals. I've never used an airfryer so I'd probably not want to try it for the first time on holiday.

I think in it depends on the quality of the accommodation, the price and how long people are going to want to stay there. I stay in a bunkhouse in the middle of nowhere sometimes that just has a microwave and a single plug in electric hob plate - I’m happy heating up a tin of something because I only stay a couple of days and see it like luxury camping, and for £25 a night it’s great value. If the accommodation is cheap and basic and you’re upfront about it I think it’s fine - but if it’s good quality accommodation and you want to price accordingly I’d definitely put a small oven in.

My dh and me are always two people staying and we cook! Why does everyone think couples don’t cook? We could go out but it’s nice to have evenings in at times. Restaurants don’t open every day of the week in many places out of season and I like to cook. Is not rent anywhere without 4 rings, an oven and a microwave. It’s just basic.

I would rather have space to be honest, a lot of these airbnbs are very small

So Id be happy with 2 rings and an airfryer that you can fit things in properly, like with an oven tray

Not cheap obviously but some of them dont have the microwave element to them and are cheaper.

See, things like this are annoying to me in rental cottage type places - I find it v annoying to have to read a (usually poorly written) manual to figure out how to put the oven on to 180, or heat something for 5 mins in the microwave. I vastly prefer it when the kitchen equipment is super simple to use with very few options! I’d prioritise simple useable stuff.

I can see why it looks like a good idea but if you have to read more than half a page of instructions to use it, it’s annoying for a few nights stay!

Well it was just one example, there are some very simple little combi ovens you get on amazon, cheaper than that one but dont have the microwave element to it and they're just ovens

We find no matter what the cooking arrangements we can never fathom it, we dont have electric hob at home so never understand how they work to be honest, each one seems so different

My preference would be a built-in combi oven/microwave and more worktop space over an air fryer that I wouldn't use. I am unlikely to use the over either, but the microwave bit might be useful. In a small kitchen an oven means compromising storage space, but an Airbnb doesn't need masses of cupboard space for food so that's fine by me. It does need worktop space for a toaster, coffee maker and kettle, and space for putting together snacks and drinks.

Air fryers are ugly, bulky things really and have stayed in small Airbnbs that, after taking into account the sink, a microwave, kettle, toaster and the welcome tray of tea/coffee/biscuits etc have virtually no work space left!

BertieBotts · 25/03/2026 12:08

Would absolutely avoid any kind of kitchen appliance from amazon unless it's a well known brand. The dodgy imported ones could be an absolute nightmare if it caused a fire or injury to anybody.
