If you were staying in a small fairly rural Airbnb- one large lounge kitchen, bedroom, bathroom - and the kitchen had a double hob and air fryer but no oven would you think that was okay?
it would be clear in the description.

You can't just cut it into slices & cook as much as you want if it at a time.

Don't be daft, who is cutting up frozen pizza to shove it into a tiny air fryer? It's OK for heating up leftover takeaway pizza but frozen pizza needs a full sized oven.

hahabahbag · 23/03/2026 16:45

Depends if there were adequate eating options in walking distance. If it was rural enough to need a car to reach a suitable place for dinner I wouldn’t book anywhere I couldn’t make dinner at the cottage (I typically would take a casserole from home if no pub nearby)

hahabahbag · 23/03/2026 16:48

4 burner hob and single oven plus standard microwave, toaster, kettle and ideally coffee machine or cafetière. Never used an airfryer in my life, oven is just fine.

if you opt for no oven and have a pub nearby with good food I’d be just as happy but I would be looking to pay no more than a hotel room as it’s not fully equipped

If you are taking notes. Please can I add appropriately sized pots and pans. If you are only hosting couples you do not need giant pans for the hob. I've stayed in too many 1 bed holiday cottages that seem to only have absolutely gigantic pans. I need a couple of decent size frying pans but I absolutely do not need 3 of the largest pan in a pan set.

Oh yes! The gallon-sized saucepan when all you want to do is boil an egg ...

Twoshoesnewshoes · 23/03/2026 17:31

Got it
a small medium and large saucepan with lids

If it's just a one bed place for short stays I think that's fine. But I've never used an air fryer and actually would prefer a microwave for ready meals which is what I would usually eat in this kind of place.

OhDear111 · 23/03/2026 17:40

@TwoshoesnewshoesOne big one for pasta and a big frying pan. Small and medium casserole dishes with lids and a set of saucepans including a milk pan. Don’t stock with mismatched rubbish you are chucking out. Decent cutlery, crockery, glassware and cooking equipment are appreciated. Plus fast toaster, microwave, kettle and pod coffee machine are good. Guests like them. Well equipped places get repeat business. If you are couples only size, add in a suitable welcome basket and nice bed linen and fluffy towels.

We run a holiday let. Competition is fierce- you need to have a proper oven and hob, plus a microwave. Also a coffee maker, kettle and toaster. We don’t have an air fryer (I’ve considered it, but been put off after several reports of fires caused by people using them too close to overhead cupboards and the difficulty of cleaning one on changeover )
At least 3 saucepans with lids (sm, med, lg) a good non stick frying pan, mixing bowls, measuring jug- pretty much a fully stocked kitchen.
People may say they only ever eat out, but forget to put in a roasting tin and you will get a bad review!
Oh- a plenty of matching crockery, glasses and cutlery.

@averylongtimeago that’s so helpful, thank you 🙏

I probably wouldn’t book it. I don’t use air fryers.

Shinyhappyapple · 23/03/2026 19:54

Is the microwave a basic microwave, or is it one that acts as an oven as well? I’ve been confused by these in rental accommodation before.

OhDear111 · 23/03/2026 20:11

@Twoshoesnewshoes Would you like my full inventory?

Miyagi99 · 23/03/2026 20:12

Yeah, wouldn’t bother me, if it’s small the air fryer is basically a small oven.

Paaseitjes · 23/03/2026 20:31

Most of the apart hotels here have those combi oven-microwaves. They're actually pretty good, once you've deciphered the buttons.

Yes we've stayed in similar, sometimes they have a combi oven but its always clear on the details what amenities people have. Is this what you are renting out?

TheOnlyAletheia · 23/03/2026 20:35

I have an airbnb (one bedroom) and a full kitchen including an oven and it’s used maybe 1/15 visits which is great because I don’t have to clean it!

SemmaLina · 23/03/2026 20:39

You say small , so only sleeping a couple ?
Sounds perfect to me , I don’t cook much on holiday anyway
Kettle , hob , if I had a choice I think I’d prefer a microwave instead of an airfryer
Make sure you have plenty of nice crockery , cutlery and glasses ( not 2 or each ! )

likelysuspect · 23/03/2026 20:40

You can get combi ovens that are also airfryers so saving space that way

Alwayswonderedwhy · 23/03/2026 20:56

I wouldn't stay somewhere without an oven unless it was just for the night and I was eating out. Plenty of people seem to love air fryers though.

ClashCityRocker · 23/03/2026 21:02

I potentially wouldn't book as I don't know how to use an air fryer, and don't fancy spending my holiday learning how to use one (after a weekend trying to get my head around an aga....)

I mean, if it was the perfect place in the perfect location I would work round it - especially if there's restaurants or takeaways nearby - however only for a weekend break I think. But if there were other lets nearby that had an oven, I'd pick one of them.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/03/2026 21:04

No oven would put me off, unless the trade off was a very nice house at a very good price. You can’t put a pizza in an air fryer.

Bikenutz · 23/03/2026 21:07

What about an air fryer microwave combi? You can buy one with fairly simple controls in John Lewis for around £150.

Coconutter24 · 23/03/2026 21:07

If it’s a one bedroom place then the maximum people staying would be two so as long as it’s perfectly clear it would be ok

AtomicBlondeRose · 23/03/2026 21:08

Fine for me - we took our air fryer with us last time we went to a cottage! I never use our oven at all. And we cook pizza in it all the time - cut into slices and it takes half the time it does in the oven so there’s always a hot piece waiting for you when you’ve finished your last slice.

I do. Two quarters propped up, then while we're eating those the other two are cooking.

If the absence of any oven was made clear it wouldn't bother me.
