We have never done this. My kids are 14 and 16. Is it too late?

Boys if that makes any difference. no worries about looking stylish by the pool, just like being out and about swimming etc

My 14 year old DS loves a good water park as does his 16 years Dsis.

Overthebow · 31/01/2026 10:05

Surely never if they like that kind of holiday. I liked it as a kid, teenager and now adult.

HolesInTheAlbertHall · 31/01/2026 10:06

I love it now!

Justdancevance · 31/01/2026 10:10

It depends on the kids and the waterpark.

Im booking one for 14/11 year old while 16 year old is away at a camp (language & watersports like surfing/sailing)

We’ll just do a few days in Tenerife with younger ones as elder Dd would get bored after 2 days and want shops 🤯 The youngest hasn’t been in years (rowing schedule)

But we are looking at waterpark city mix for all of them, we’ve brought them to the giant indoor park in Berlin, we took them to Florida and they had no interest in Disney / universal and wanted to spend their time in the water park luckily we had multi park tickets 😆)

Never if my three boys are anything to go by - they continue liking the water park, table tennis and crazy golf etc and add in enjoying the all inclusive beer…..

Thunderdcc · 31/01/2026 10:13

My two are 11 and 13 and we have done French campsites with waterslides for years. Last year they did get a bit bored with it by the end of the week - but not the underlying principle just the fact that there were only 3 slides. Previous years that has been more than enough for a week with swimming as well.

So I'd say they're not too old as long as it is a decent sized waterpark - or a decent sized pool to mess around in as well.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 31/01/2026 10:14

I’m 46 and haven’t grown out of it!

Lochalvie · 31/01/2026 10:16

Thanks. I think I just need a big enough park then. The older one loves this sort of thing but not if he is the only 16 year old there. Would need a good mix of ages

My boys would still love this now - and they are in their 20s. In fact, my 23 year old is thinking of going to Turkey with his girlfriend, to a hotel we went to twice when he was in his teens.

IndieRocknRoll · 31/01/2026 10:51

Never! Just choose one where you can nip out for boat trips or to a nice town. The bigger places usually have football pitches, tennis courts etc so look at what else they offer

Bjorkdidit · 31/01/2026 11:06

Well I'm 52 and love a water park for a day or two of a holiday.

But I also like the sea and beach, walks, eating at different restaurants, visiting local towns, cities, villages etc so I'd not do all inclusive but rent an apartment or villa in walking distance of restaurants, beach, supermarket and bus stop etc so we can eat out daily and stock up with drinks, snacks, easy food and ice creams etc. Plus a good water park nearby that we can go to once or twice (many have an annual pass for not much more than a day ticket if once won't be enough).

With DC those ages you can put them on washing up duty and they can go to the shop for their own ice creams, drinks, crisps and even pizzas etc to cook so it's not like you need the convenience of AI which is always a bit shit unless you pay for a la carte IKOS level.

ComtesseDeSpair · 31/01/2026 11:18

Your 16-year-old certainly won’t be the odd one out - AI resort holidays are popular with older teenagers taking their first holiday alone with friends. Many resorts are in areas where there are also other things nearby, you aren’t confined for the entire week if you fancy exploring the local town, taking some walks, and finding new places to eat.

Octavia64 · 31/01/2026 11:26

I’m 49 and I still love a good waterpark.

mine liked them as teens. Your teens may vary

gototogo · 31/01/2026 11:40

At 16+ they like it even more because most European countries allow drinking from 16!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2026 11:46

The last time we did it was age 15 and DS still enjoyed it. Happily went on slides with DH (though not as much as two years earlier). I think he’d happily go again if it was on offer. He liked the whole all inclusive aspect, being able to go off and get a drink or a snack without asking for money etc. We’re not bit all inclusive people, and have only done a couple of times. It was a nice resort, not too many young kids, no groups of teenagers, and all of that suited us.

Usernamenotfound1 · 31/01/2026 11:51

Dh is in his 60’s and still loves a waterpark.

i’ve got into them too. What’s not to like, you can stay by and chill, swim, or enjoy the flumes and whatnot.

older adult dd will spend all day on the slides. Younger is more sun and bikini but still very happy to come with and will go on the slides a couple of times.

the only thing I would say is check the food outlets before you go. Some are good, some ok but quite a few are not great at all.

Lochalvie · 31/01/2026 12:02

Can I ask where this was? Sounds perfect.

I think generally Turkey and Tenerife are popular for this. I am also looking at Crete. But we never done it before so not really sure. Wondering about a resort in Rhodes and going to water park in falaraki also

I don't think you ever grow out of waterparks. You seek out bigger ones.

I love Siam Park in Tenerifwe. Brilliant for teenagers and the food was surprisingly good too. Not exactly an all in one holiday, but you can find an AI hotel nearby and tack on watersports or mountain trips as well.

pteromum · 31/01/2026 12:08

My kids are younger so we are still at the water park next door stage. Can go for a while then be by the smaller kids pool. Majorca and menorca.

I don’t think we will ever grow out of it. Love a water park as do they.

Really enjoyed the AI as well. Plenty selection and choice. I wasn’t sure but was pleased we tried it.

OSTMusTisNT · 31/01/2026 12:10

I don't think boys/men ever do if they generally like pools.

Would be my worst nightmare though, all those screaming kids.

I'm a woman, not a young one at that.

I love waterparks. I will keep going as long as my legs can haul my ass up the stairs.

TheCurious0range · 31/01/2026 13:42

Surely it depends what else there is to do. We do AI with pools/slides/the occasional waterpark but we don't stay there all of the time we usually have a hire car and get out and explore. I don't see teenagers objecting to that. However I see some families in the same spot by the pool all week, I can imagine after a few days teens would be bored.
