we are hoping to take our daughter ( turning 10) in March.
She has only ever been to a couple of small UK theme parks.
recommendations or suggestions welcome!

We have been several times but it's been a good few years since we were there, but yes its absolutely worth it, and at 10 she is the perfect age for it!

TheMateofOphelia · 04/01/2026 14:59

We went for our summer holiday last year and really enjoyed it.

There is a new frozen world opening in march so check dates before you book so you don't miss it.

Kelkoocode · 04/01/2026 15:05

We took our 10 year old for her birthday and we all had a great time. I found the FB groups for first time visitors completely overwhelming.
I would recommend reserving a spot for the fireworks. Otherwise, go with the flow of what your daughter wants to do.

Placestogo · 04/01/2026 15:12

We went on the cheapest ticket we could find (early jan a year ago). It was fantastic. We stayed in a disney hotel just outside and the kids loved it too (pool, all you can eat cafe, super king size bed)
Food is awful but there is a FiveGuys just outside the park and it was great - cheaper and “better”

ParallelLimes · 04/01/2026 15:13

My biggest tip is take a ton of savoury snacks because it's nonstop ice cream and sugary milky junk, get your favourite rides in first thing in the morning because the queues go absolutely ridiculous in the afternoon, and lower your expectations massively compared with what the infomercials on the front of every Disney video used to sell to us when we were little. It's just barely more interesting than Alton Towers, and I'd put it below Peppa Pig World in Southampton for my kids' age group. We won't be hurrying back.

Isobel201 · 04/01/2026 15:19

We've been to disney in Florida and once in Calfiornia. I think Disney does a lot more rides and attractions that are friendly to those who don't like big rollercoaster rides (like me), so I'd definitley do Euro disney if you can.

Enchanted82 · 04/01/2026 15:36

And how long did you go for?

OP posts:
Placestogo · 04/01/2026 15:39

Two days, one night

Cyclingforcake · 04/01/2026 15:39

We are thinking of going for one day while on a trip to Paris. Tickets don’t look like they cost much more than a UK theme park but not sure whether it’ll be worth it for ‘just’ one day.

stolenpromises · 04/01/2026 15:47

It is worth doing but if only going for one or two days you need to plan otherwise, you could find yourself wandering around and not being able to get on any rides.

bumblebee1000 · 04/01/2026 15:53

Is this the one in France....outrageous prices, all junk food and heavy security checking bags for any food brought in...we took students there for an animation event, not for the theme park....we loathed the place !

tinyspiny · 04/01/2026 16:05

We’ve been going since it opened , done Florida as well a few times , they are totally different . My advice would be definitely try to stay in a Disney hotel and for a first visit I’d do at least 3 nights /4 days .

GoBackToPartyCity · 04/01/2026 16:10

Is she a Disney fan? Would she like the character breakfasts etc…? If she’s not that fussed the I would look into Efteling or Europa Park. Europa was my 9 year old’s favourite park by a country mile.

We brought loads food and drinks it. Bags obviously have to be checked in such a crowded place but they had no issue with snacks being brought in.

miamo12 · 04/01/2026 16:11

Take bottles with you to refill (with super concentrated squash drops of plain water is an issue) little packs of haribo are good too. Book close by, we stayed in the park as you get in an hour earlier. We ate in the huge McDonald’s in the Disney village mostly as everything is €€€ and not good quality.

Did you find Efteling cheaper. It's coming in roughly the same price for us to stay in their wonder hotel as we paid for the Marvel hotel last year and flights are much dearer to Amsterdam so think we will just go back to Disney because there seems to be much more there to do.

I must look into Europa.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 04/01/2026 16:16

Never found it any more expensive than any other theme park

i just don’t stay on site

we in London so get Eurostar or drive and always stay in euro camps or some sort of other accommodation and shuttle bus in each day

the tickets last time were less than 50euro each for the day which is reasonable.

took our own food and drinks.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 04/01/2026 16:17

The restaurants are shite, not worth the money at all. H walked out of the castle one and queued at McDonald’s for an hour. Kids were over at the end of day one, day two we went to the pool and they loved it. Stayed at sequoia, think it might be under refurb now.

GoBackToPartyCity · 04/01/2026 16:17

@Martymcfly24 I’ve just had a look through my emails to see what we paid 😂. It was €417 for one night, two days in the park staying in the Loonsche Land hotel (August 2023) we went by ferry and then stayed at TerSpegelt eurocamp for a week afterwards.

AgnesMcDoo · 04/01/2026 16:21

We love and are booked to go a 4th time
this June

my tips

Monday to Friday are quieter than Saturdays and Sundays

avoid English and French school holidays if you can (we go in Scottish school holidays or term time)

we prefer to book an onsite hotel to get the extra magic hour in the morning (park is only open to hotel guests so queues are shorter) and so that it’s close by if we want a break during the day.

we fly to Charles de Gaulle and stay overnight there then get the train (10 mins) early in the morning to get full use of park tickets on day one and then on last day get the train back when it closes and again stay at an airport hotel and fly home the next day

we book and pay for our meal plan early which means we can book all our meals early. The best themed restaurants get booked months on advance

we splash for premier access tickets on our last day

frozen opens end of March so if you want to see that go after (but it will be busy)

age 10 is a brilliant age to go

JimsBeam · 04/01/2026 16:25

We just got back on Wednesday. Went on Boxing Day as a Christmas surprise for the kids. It’s our second time going and we love it. I would never go at that time of year again as it was so busy. We did three nights and four days and even with a priority pass didn’t get everything done. Our girls are 6 and 4 but plenty to do for a ten year old. The
shows are really good and not sure if she’s fussed on meeting characters but would recommend a character meal if she is as it saves the queuing when they are around the park. We are planning to go back in 2028 when the lion king part opens and potentially try California next year!

Thanks so much for that.
That's very reasonable but that hotel is booked out for our dates in the summer.
In Ireland so have to fly . Must look into that Eurocamp too.🙏

This is just rubbish , there is no issue with taking food in you just are not allowed cool boxes also there are plenty of reasonable food options that are not fast food . There are security checks but you need them to keep everybody safe .

Clefable · 04/01/2026 18:30

We thought the Efteling was a much better park, way smaller queues, rides were better, much cheaper, but neither of our kids are big into Disney IP so when we went to Disneyland they weren’t massively wowed by characters or anything. If she’s a big Disney fan she will enjoy it for sure.

I left DP thinking I’d done it and wouldn’t be in a rush to go back, but we left Efteling having already booked our next trip!
