Off to Melbourne soon ,recommendations for days out/ visits please.

Hi everyone. Am visiting Melbourne in two weeks and son will be working during the days. We have planned trip to Sydney one weekend and great ocean rd trip another weekend.
Can anyone recommend ‘must go to ‘places in and around Melbourne whilst son working.
I have been researching but any experiences that are not to miss would be great.
Happy to get train/ trams ,boat trips etc and even include overnight trip.

Hi lovely people. I got back from Australia 2weeks ago 😢So worth the journey to spend quality time with my son .
Absolutely loved Melbourne and trips to Philip Island,GOR , Warrendyte seeing the Kangaroos in their natural habitat.
We had a long weekend in Sydney,went Ferry Hopping to Manly,Watson Bay ,Double Bay ,long walk from Bondi to Coogee ..absolutely beautiful walk and reminded me why I have fallen in love again with Australia again.
Absolutely cannot compare the two cities…both wonderful .
My other son just on his way,landing in Melbourne in a few hours to see his brother and watch the Cricket ..🤦‍♀️

My sons have banned me from mentioning the cricket 🤦‍♀️!! The reason my youngest has gone to see his brother 😳

There will be a lot of tourists wandering around tomorrow who thought they were going to the cricket!

Am guessing they will be getting up now ! Forcast looks good so hope they all go off exploring..so much to see.

I second the Puffing Billy trip. We did it in a day combined with a few wineries (I especially remember the Chandon one).
