Avoid On The Beach. Loads of add ons

Oh I booked an on the beach years ago , landed up in what I would call the dumping room, I told them get me moved now or get me a flight home , they gave us a room in the new part of the hotel, never again

KookyRoseCrab · 19/10/2025 17:46

This year we went with TUI last year EasyJet and Jet2

wizzler · 19/10/2025 17:47

I try to book Jet2 as their customer service is so good

Figgygal · 19/10/2025 17:47

Easyjet holidays have always worked well for us.

KookyRoseCrab · 19/10/2025 17:49

Daughter was a travel agent and she gives us advice

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 19/10/2025 17:50

I always use love holidays 😬 never had a problem and they’re easy to use.

MissyB1 · 19/10/2025 17:51

Jet 2 will be your best bet.

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 19/10/2025 17:51

My mum only books with jet2 and also never had a problem. I hope I haven’t jinxed it 🧐

I can believe it! They let us fly out of Stansted with our suitcases even though they weren’t paid for! What I mean is, they hadn’t given dh the option to book in cases when arranging the holiday. It was only spotted at Lanzarote airport on the way home. At least the cases went on the plane out there for free though

notatinydancer · 19/10/2025 18:56

I just book all trips myself.
Book flights then look on Booking.com or similar for accommodation.
Book transfers the other end.
Do you know where you want to go? @Spicepie

I also like Jet2, can I ask why you recommend to avoid using on the beach or love holidays? I’ve used them both a fair few times with no issue just curious to know for the future as am looking at holidays again now x

If something goes wrong you don’t want to spend your time arguing with an AI bot. Jet2 employ actual humans and they are there at the airport and in the hotels to help you!

TUI were absolutely dreadful when we encountered an issue once. I do tend to book everything myself these days but I understand any risks I’m taking.

Cynic17 · 19/10/2025 19:05

Depends where I want to go. For Europe, I find the most convenient flights and book them, then do some online searching to book my hotel. I usually know exactly what I want, so my track record is pretty good.
If you don't feel confident, OP, you might do better with a package - Jet2 have pretty good reputation.

KookyRoseCrab · 19/10/2025 19:06

I tend to book with my local high street travel agent then if something goes wrong they know it

Avoid On The Beach. Loads of add ons

I use them all the time, you don't have to buy the add ons!

DevaneyRob43 · 19/10/2025 21:01

Avoid Onthebeach

isitmyturn · 19/10/2025 21:16

TUI have started using other airlines. I am looking at a holiday from East Midlands and all the TUI holidays are using Ryanair so I will go with Jet2.

Lifeisnotalwaysfair · 20/10/2025 19:22

Jet2 for a weeks package holiday, otherwise organise it ourselves. Jet2 have a good website, once you've selected a date and hotel, it will show you how much the flights would cost on nearby dates which can save you a lot of money.
If the coach to hotel transfer is fairly short, I'd recommend pre booking a private taxi to avoid waiting for ages in a coach for stragglers or another flight.

raininginlanzarote · 20/10/2025 20:05

Independent travel agent.

weediva · 20/10/2025 20:48

I would say for the first time to go with an independent travel agent who is ABTA and ATOL bonded. That way you are protected but it also means that they can book things individually but put it together as a protected package for you. It means that you may be able to fly with different airlines etc. Also if you book with an agent they generally check you in and print all documents and boarding passes and if there’s ever a problem or flight cancellation or you need to change the booking the agent will deal with it all for you (I certainly do that for all my customers) It takes a lot of the stress out of it especially when you send yourself crazy looking at so many options!
