All inclusive with no sun bed wars

Hello I’m looking for recommendations for an all inclusive hotel for the summer holidays next year where sun beds are in plentiful supply and we don’t need to get up early to reserve them. Budget up to £4k for 2 adults 2 children so unfortunately can’t afford Ikos etc! Thank you 😊

@Returnofjude Paid off? What has my house got to do with anything and who knows about my house which I rarely use. I don’t need your stupid advice thanks. It’s pretty stunning already! How bizarre you think it’s worth mentioning. And, by the way, you don’t censor me or anyone else. But anyone hating sunbed wars can avoid them. Come and use my pool! (Only joking)

you have mentioned your paid off holiday home countless times on mumsnet

Even on this thread… you plough in pissing over AI holidays when patently they really do work for some.

Head back to the Galápagos Islands maybe and quit joining holiday threads just to pee over them

These holidays seem stressful and not great. Who wants all this angst? There are smaller places with pools surely? Why AI? They are mostly huge and full of people who lounge all day. I’d be looking for a mix of activities and a pool day occasionally and definitely not AI.

Awesome

Because we all want to know what @TizerorFizz looks for in a holiday 😆

IstillloveKingThistle · 25/08/2025 21:17

This is why I prefer a villa. Own pool. No fucking stress of other people.

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2025 20:41

@GrumpyExpat If you don’t relish sunbed wars you avoid places where this happens! It’s fairly obvious really.

The idea that people don’t venture out of AI hotel is odd too. Obviously everything isn’t there. Local restaurants, culture, architecture, museums and art definitely aren’t there.

If I've already paid a small fortune for all the family's food & drink I'm reluctant to go & buy it somewhere else

Well it can be really nice meeting other people. I've met some amazing people on holiday. I just avoid the weirdos. Villas can work if there's lots of you but if you only have a small family it's nice to see other people & at AI hotels they often have lots of activities going on

I have done both AI, Villa and half board…. All Lovely

Not you @ConnieHeart ! Others

Just got back from Star Beach in Crete Z wanderer down to the pool around 10am and no issues getting sun beds .

Nectarines · 26/08/2025 08:10

We stayed at the Westin Dragonara in Malta and never had an issue getting loungers at any time of the day. Staff would help you to move safe ones together if you needed them to. Was a beautiful hotel. I am not sure if they do all inclusive but they do half board.

HelloHattie · 26/08/2025 08:11

Look at the bigger ones in Cyprus as they allocate beds, takes all the stress away if it’s got your room number on it.

Do you have to sit in the same place everyday? Do better rooms get better beds?

Needlenardlenoo · 26/08/2025 08:16

We had a lovely week in Funchal, Madeira once in high season with Tui, and while I'm not much of a sunbed sitter, there were always plenty of them. Hotel was Girasole.

Blueyshift · 26/08/2025 08:35

I know you want all inc but we have found smaller three stars with b and b much better as not so many people. Just been to the Orion in Rhodes. It was better than a 4 star all inc as there were always beds.

You can sit on a sunbed and watch your children? Toddler you need to be right by them, but from the age of 7 both my children has completed all the swimming levels and could play in a pool without me glued to their side, or course I would still watch them from my lounger 2ft from the poolside.

From 8+ the can go swimming without an adult in the UK. My DC would often go with friends.

Exactly this. Our kids are 8 and 11. We don’t need to be in the pool with them (we are some of the time) so we sit on our sunbeds and watch them

I see what you’re saying. Completely. My husband works abroad and we travel to see him in a hotel at least three times per year. May is usually gorgeous. August is vile: no space on any areas at the pool or beach.
I also don’t want to make friends on my travels. Other people love it . I don’t.
Horses for courses and all that.

Sani/Ikos resorts

Did you actually read the op?

tellmesomethingtrue · 26/08/2025 22:59

goplacidly · 24/08/2025 23:03

Depends when. On Sani holidays we had to bag sunbeds for two families by one of us getting up at 8am every day, Took it in turns and took a book. Four years in a row. Can’t be arsed with it any more. Not had the same problem with mark warner. Everyone too busy doing stuff to be sat by the pool all day

And what time did the two families arrive at the pool to use them?

I don't necessarily want to make friends but I love chatting to other people & finding out interesting stuff about them, having a laugh at the bar, finding out about how they're finding the holiday etc

I wonder what makes posters like this stumble in to such threads and think posters are interested in how they like to holiday. Bizarre @TizerorFizz

We went to Tui Blue Nausicca Beach in Cyprus.. you had sunbeds assigned to the room

Can I ask if you went with kids and their ages? We are looking at it for next year and my 2 boys will be 14 and 16.

They are 12&14. They loved the steps down straight into the sea rather than having to swim in a cramped pool. Younger DD lived parasailing (not part of the hotel, but 5 minutes walk) and we did a boat trip one day. Easy buses into Ayia Napa.

Edited to add... one bugbear was that the sofa beds weren't full length. Ours were OK on them, but if your s are adult height it would be uncomfortable.
